I really like learning about Enneagrams but this is the first video I really didn’t like. I am a 4w5 and I was disappointed to watch this video and hear mostly negative aspects about both types. I think that every type has positives and negative and if you are going to make a video about it, I think it would be more beneficial to share more than the negative experiences you’ve had with people of that type, especially if you are trying to help educate people on the types. I appreciate you making videos and wanted to share how I viewed this video- hope to see more of the positives on the 4w5.

This was not at all negative? She even said sorry and even pointed out “ an unhealthy trait of 4” As a healthy 4w5 I say yes when I am unhealthy I can become arrogant/selfish I really don’t get these comments of 4 who are hurt from her observation. She’s very direct and clear. I appreciate her honesty and her perspective. I think this was a great video of the differences of 4w3 and 4w5. If you must hear positive observations why not share of your own?? You are a 4 Also very late comment and maybe you still dislike this video 😂

I really tried to get through this video, but I couldn't since all she was doing was ranting about these people she knew. It would have been beneficial if she took her own feelings out of the conversation and just focused on aspects of the 4 personality with each wing. However, you could tell that she is holding resentment towards these individuals because she took her experiences with them personally. And obviously the people she was dealing with were on a more unhealthy level of the 4 and wings.

I never relate to your videos about 4s... :/ for example, I'd never interrupt someone and say everything I know about something and why it's bad, same with the donut example. I would never spill everything I'm thinking. I feel like people don't listen to me, so I would never say that or even complain in an obvious way unless it was to entertain (make a joke) or to confide in someone who cares enough about me to listen. All of the 4 examples you give are nothing like this. They all seem to be incessant complainers and insulters - though they also seem to be male-heavy, and I honestly wonder if gender and gender roles play into these differences.
@jennywawa887 жыл бұрын
That happens. My examples here are certainly NOT to be 100% generalized to the population. That's one of my favorite things about people is how you can see sooooooo many people as one Enneagram type, but they all express it sooooooo differently.

I am not at all flamboyant, and don't relate to 3 at all, but I do seek "validation" in the sense of tritype 469. I am 4w5. I don't however relate to what you shared about 4w5 in your initial description of them. Also sounds kind of 6-ish the paranoia about doctors and "what they are pumping into our body" etc. Not that he isn't a 4w5 per se but just the description of it. I don't talk about how the "society is wrong" usually either, or anything political. I do have a strong intellectual/cerebral side though, but it's mostly just things I am personally passionate about and have read a lot on, as a consequence. It's less...political, more personal + intellectual.

Hello, I was considering some of the assertions you made about the 4w5. At first I thought you might be right about the secret elitism until I examined myself further. We have a much more egalitarian viewpoint of people in general than you expressed. We really think everyone has a special calling and a special purpose. It is the responsibility of each person to figure out how they fit into the world and belong. It is up to us to develop our personal worldview and understanding. 4w5s take this responsibility very seriously and do in-depth studies into the nature of reality. Thus, when they say they believe something, it is because they did the research and drew conclusions from a number of sources. It is still their opinions and viewpoints, but it is like saying that a neuroscientist thinks he knows something about the brain. Well, he studied the brain, so of course he knows something. It doesn't make him better than everybody else, but he has a specialty and this is what we 4w5s are like.

And that eating a low quality diet that contains ‘Dunkin’ Donuts’ all the sugar and chemicals pollutes your body and mind. Perhaps he meant they’re evil because they profit off selling synthetic sweets and treats?! It’s unfortunate that he was unable to deliver his point purposefully. Ps.. i am a 4w5 as well and I often wear cat ear headbands or faery wings on occasions.

I’m 4w5. I don’t care or even seek validation. I hate being boxed with those superficial “you are pretty” “you are smart” compliments, etc. Seeking validation is anathema to my being, and I also don’t like taking spotlight. It’s cringey. I look like a 5, but in moments of externally expressing myself I defeat all people in terms of clothing, confidence or what truly fits to what I know of myself, the best parts of it. The thing about 4s is we suck at rationalising what we believe in. So people take us at face value and form serious opinions (like what you are saying) about what we say, which is the 4s trap. Also, the donut thing is very unhealthy bizarre ideation. I also wonder why you’re taking what he said seriously and theorize elitism out of that. That’s a horrible example of looking into one’s psyche to represent a 4w5.
@Softening.into.His.Glory.6 жыл бұрын
I'm a 4w5, and I can tell you.... the idea of elitism is anathema to me. I think passion is more accurate, by far, for the 5 wing. And p.s., a lot of homeopathic medicine, and Chinese medicine, Is better. And I Do read medical journals. I can't even get through your video because of the rudeness in your voice. Making fun of people - anyone - no matter what their mental or emotional differences- isn't okay.

thank you Armonia for expressing what i wanted to write. She is very biased and subjective. For evidence - please watch 8 video and this video again. She never defined elitism, it's rather ridiculous to use a word to describe a type without defining it. 4s are the most conscious of all types and that's why their feelings are so deep and sometimes melancholic because that's the fundamental nature of human existence. Her dad sounds nothing like a 4.

Lady Gaga is a core 3 and so is Nicki Minaj. I don’t even think Minaj has a 4 wing lol. They are so obviously Assertive stance that it is sad to see people typing them as 4. Naranjo says it all. 3s identify with the image that sells, 4s identify with the defective part of themselves. Gaga is all about “the fame” as she says it herself. Celebrity, material possessions, money, success. All Enneatype 3 themes. 4w3s can be flamboyant kind of, but at the core they are always painfully self-aware of their defects and much more withdrawn than aggressive. Prince, Lorde, Morrissey and maybe Michael Jackson are all examples that come to my mind. A bit flamboyant but very withdrawn and shy in essence. Core 4s are prone to melancholia, period, and much more withdrawn than aggressively showing themselves off.

Agreed. I want to give her the BOTD, but the way she talks about us (like many people do) is a big reason WHY we feel so misunderstood and different all the time lol I didn't like how she talked about the deer antler lady. As if she was offended by the mere idea of her dressing outside of what is socially acccepted. But for Deer Lady, it probably isn't about shoeing off and shock value. She wasn't wearing those things to just say "Hey!! Look at me!! I'm different (and better) than all of you!!" It's more about her having a tangible way of expressing her emotions and self-worth. Indulging in her desire to wear those things probably makes her feel fulfilled and her most authentic self...perhaps it tied into her spirituality and she idenities with Deer as a soul identity. It must be very important to her. But most types think opposite to this. They see it as costumy, something that masks or covers up what's "really there"...when for a Four, it is a way for us to SHOW a peak into the window of our true selves. ...sorry that was a lot of words.

I'm a 4w3, but based off on your description of differences, I related to your take on 4w5 over 4w3 with at least 3 or 4 comparisons. If I come to you with an issue, I will definitely draw out you input and not just want validation. I can go explore without having all the 4w5 facts like you said is so with an 4w3. I'm in the arts, but must push myself to share it. I could go months as an 4w5, and go deep into my crafts, not leaving my house, only sharing my painting, songs, dance practice with myself. Then it hits me that I need this to be something where I share it and also sometimes people will take issue with this! I'm an INFJ. I do have a side where I can be in the limelight, but hard to maintain without burnout. My art isn't about recognition and success, yet its something that I want in the end, otherwise... I then wonder about my purpose with it is. I'm not sure if this is an enneagram 4 feeling, or issues with an ex. But, starting to wonder if I'm selfish to not share it? I could happily be a SAHM only. I am (with an art and dance studio and tons in instruments). I love fashion and will stand out - bright colors, patterns, shoes. Not very 4w5! I have to force myself to get some plain items.

He isn't irrational enough though to think Dunkin Donuts is possessed by the devil - that one had me rolling. I found your video because I've been having a hard time determining my wing. For a couple years now I've been going with 5 but I'm beginning to think it might be 3. I think maybe the 3 is only a little stronger than the 5 though. Your video helped describe the differences better than what I've been finding so far. Except the co-worker in the call center sounds pretty extreme too - I've worked in offices in the past and doing things like that wouldn't cross my mind, but I'm also very quiet, shy and introverted. So instead of feeling "weird" because you've got 2 sides that oppose, see it as a possibility to embrace mores sides of life. I can be both very sensitive and very competivive. What a gift :) When you look at it that way you really embrace all the best 4/3 qualities. Balance, and compassion towards yourself. Ps: It's very 4 like to feel like something is wrong. :)

Hi Jennifer, a really good video again, I'm really enjoying your series - keep it up :) This video oddly reminded me of my own Dad who I now feel certain is a 4. I actually had him typed as an ENFJ for some time - love of conspiracy theories, really demonstrative. But I could make a case for an Fi type, he's very self absorbed in that HIS emotion is the only one that counts, almost like there's no room for anyone else's. Anyway, basically what I wanted to bring up was how similar the 4w5 description sounds in relation to the stereotype of the 6. This adamant assertion that yes the big corporations are out to get us etc. My own Dad has recently taken to talking at length about how armageddon was going to strike this year because I think he'd watched it in a youtube video, without a flicker of self doubt. It's so bizarre. But yeah, his love of death and emotional volitility makes him a clear 4. Unfortunately his typing as a four only has me more confused as to my own type, as I always type out as four and yet I am NOTHING like him. Thanks again for all your contributions :)

Your tyranical friend sounds exactly like my dad lmao he has such strange, radical, elitist ideals that, in retrospect, makes absolutely no sense (although he is quite weird in most ways). I'm always 99% sure Im a 4w5 (and I am 100% an INFP-T) but I have learned to keep my radical or srange opinions to myself, seeing how people have reacted to and talk about my dad. But my 3 connection comes out in how I dress...I am a lot like your dad in that I wear very wild and strange things. Usually fantasy-based outfits (elf ears, renaissance fair type fashion, goth fashion, an other alternative looks) but I dont like getting attention..I just like to bring the fantasy world inside my head, to life. There is a line I stop at, but I dont do it for the attention at all. I dress the way I do for myself. But I definately have elitism as a trait. Not in a "I am better than everyone else and I know best" kind of way, but more in a "I have a different perspective that is more in depth than everyone else and theyll never understand" kind of way. Also the deer antler woman sounds like someone Id be best friends with 😂😂😂 ALTHOUGH!! I want to raise the question: what exactly is "looking prfessional"? What does it really mean? Her coming in looking that way probably helped to inspire her to truly be her full authentic self in all aspects of her professional life, and therefore for her that was her "professional attire". Wow, this is so not a reflection of 4's. I think anyone who is self-absorbed and under-developed could identify with this... I have met so many people like this who range in types... sounds like it could gel with the fear of a 6, the opinioniated aggression of an 8, the arrogance of a 3. You should think twice about airing your dirty laundry and using KZbin to have a bitch. I'm a 4w5 and I hope you have a better experience with this type one day.

The only problem is that you can't empathize and so you can't clearly see the reasons.. Deep down it seems like you're trying to hurt us on some lvl. The examples you give doesen't help the average to high health levels.. And with the statement at the end it seems like you were doing it on purpose. I might be wrong, I might be just too sensitive.. But I might be right and you might have a problem with some people in your life that gave 4's the bad reputation in your eyes. (not my problem, so I wish you the best!)

HAHAHA YOUR DESCRIPTION 😂😂😂 I'm not surprised. There was alot of flak from fours in another video describing them because the person was claimed to be 'sniggering' How do we know if a 4 is integrating to 1 rather than just being passionate (whether or not rational) on this certain issue? I have met a type 4w5 at work who is so easily angered at something or anything. She's convinced her way is correct. She can be very nice and accomodating to others. She also does her job very well. I struggle to see whether what she feels is actually justifiable which can be frustrating because of how set in their ways they can be. Is it something they do even when integrated to a type 1?
@jennywawa887 жыл бұрын
For Enneagram type 4, all it really means when they integrate to type 1 is that they are in a healthy enough place now to bring up that doing function. Enneagram type 4 is feeling dominant, and thinking supports their feelings. In other words, they have an emotion, and then they mentally dwell on it to intensify it. The problem is that Enneagram type 4 is what we call doing repressed which means that they feeling, then they intensify the feeling with thinking, but they don't actually get up off their ass and DO anything about it. So naturally the number that they would need to integrate to on the Enneagram is a doing type, and not just any doing type, but one that does with precision and intention because this is what Enneagram 4 lacks. In short, when a 4 has integrated to 1, they have come to a place where their emotions, thoughts, and actions are equally balanced. They can feel and they can process the feelings in an intellectual way without having to stop life in order to do so. They are capable of doing what needs to be done regardless of how pleasurable it may be because they understand the value of action and prioritization and in considering unemotional perspectives and answers. It could also means too that they learn how to harness their passion and emotional intensity into something that they can actually apply themselves towards that could make some kind of difference in the world. For example, a really good fictional representation of a healthy Enneagram type 4 would be Belle from Beauty & the Beast. She has ABSOLUTELY integrated to 1. I would say that if you want to know whether or not someone is either just an average passionate 4 or a well developed 4 who has integrated to 1, simply ask yourself, "Is all of this just talk for the sake of talk, or do they actually DO something to back these feelings up?" Case in point: I used to have a friend who was a 4. Very passionate individual. VERY. One of the things that just really got her going was how pushy OBGYN doctors have become in the practice of modern medicine today and how mothers are not feeling as if they have as many choices for their births in hospitals because doctors are forcing these modern medicinal approaches to labor and childbirth. I mean it just pissed her off. She would go on for HOURS about it. She would go on and on about how she was going to become an OBGYN and change all of that and all of her patients could have the birthing experience that they wanted and she was going to support the poor women who don't want a traditional hospital birth and so on. I've heard her give this speech like 20 millions times. Each time she would lay out a plan for how she was going to get the money to go back to school, how many years she thought it would take to complete her medical degree, and so on and so on. So right there were have feeling (the passion for mothers) supported by thinking (the plans to go back to get school and the calculations to get the finances to pay for it), the problem is she just hasn't actually DONE anything. To this day she is still a stay at home mom and when you ask her why she hasn't applied for college yet she'll have some excuse like, "I think I need to be a mom to my kids and make myself available to teach them and homeschool them because I don't want the schools that we have here to do it. Their gonna teach my kids all these crazy things and try to brainwash them to be little mindless clones and my child is too good for that." Or she may say, "My husband is having a hard time at his job right now and I want to be available at home to him because he needs me right now. I can always apply next semester after things with his job calm down." And so on. So it's a lot of talk about the passion, but nothing is actually be done. It's 10,000% emotion, but 0% action. I can tell you right now that the person you're describing at work is absolutely NOT integrated. Now they may 1 in their tritype, but the description you provided to me is not of an integrated 4. That's a tricky one though and I understand your confusion because when you have 4w5, that types tends to be one of the most "know it all" types on the Enneagram. I actually used to know another person who was 4w5 (his tritype was 4-5-1), and he made a passionate argument one time about how he believes that absolutely all cancer could be cured simply by eliminating sugar from the diet. He had even gone on to say that doctors who claim that cancer has genetic properties to it, are crazy. I'm sure that you can image that I had to keep the look of shock off of my face because I wanted to know how in the world you could have talked yourself into believing that cancer isn't genetic. There's only like decades of research supporting the idea that cancer is largely genetic. So I said that to him and he became even more passionate, infuriated even, that I would be so stupid as to allow myself to be brainwashed by the doctors and the pharmaceutical companies who are "selling me that idea so that I'll spend money on expensive drugs and surgeries.". If you get a chance to do some in-depth tritype study, what you'll find is that the 4-5-1 tritype is actually credited with being the most "know-it-all" tritype. They are passionate, people who need to feel intellectually competent, and when that's threatened they can became very angry. And so they are especially difficult to talk to and reason with. I won't anymore. I just kind of smile and nod. Saves me time and energy. I promise you that this person you're describing is 4-5-1. They have not at all integrated. On the contrary, true integration would result in a decrease of emotion and an increase in detached, pragmatic understanding of the realities of life. Which your coworker sounds like they are lacking.

Wow, this is describing me so well... I think I am 4-5-9. So for the sake of keeping harmony I don't tell many people about my "crazy conspiracy stuff" :P Only if I think they are interested and it will not disturb them (too much). And sometimes when I am angry or I want to feel better by distancing myself from others. Even though what I am so much craving for is connection... Sometimes I realize how self-contradictory I am and it confuses me so much. I feel like I can't trust myself, my emotions and my mind fully. I feel like my shadow is so big that I am walking around blindly and trying to figure out what is going on in this big dark room of life. Sometimes I am afraid of stating anything because I fear I might be wrong or someone with another perspective can't even figure out how I could think the way I do. And then I feel isolated. But if I don't state anything I isloate myself as well. It feels like a vicious cycle. Do you have any tipps for integrating as a four? I would very much appreciate it ♥

Hi, I've been watching some of your videos lately and I wanted to ask you a question. I'm INFJ and I've been wondering what my enneagram type is. I have wondered, for a while, if I was a type 6 because I have moments, in my life, when fear is debilitating for me, but type 4 fits me so much better. The last test I've taken gave me the result of 4w3 and I think I fit into it but I am wondering if I could also be influenced by the 5 type when experiencing these moments in my life when I am literally scared of anything (crazy weather ripping off my house's roof, road accidents, illness taking my partner away from me etc). Thanks for your opinon.

That story about the 4w3 is CRAZY ! It's sort of positive and fun, I think, but as a 4w3 living in France, that behaviour would be totally inacceptable, and few people would take you seriously. I guess workplace culture depending on the country plays a lot in the enneagram type's behaviour. If I want attention, I would look for a way to come up with really original ideas and creative opinions and expressing them in an efficient and theatrical way.

I hope you don't mind if I ask questions that aren't really related to the video lol Can you please explain a few things about preferring INFJ and being a type 6w7 at the same time? I want to know how dominant Ni with type 6 actually works.. what does it look like? Sixes are known for imagining the worst case scenarios in almost every situation.. It's similar to predicting. As far as I know Ni does the same thing but it's not as negative.. I'd like to know how to differentiate between a type 6w7 and an Ni dominant. I think it's easy to get mistaken as an Ni dom when you're type 6.. So how can I tell if I'm just acting like a type 6 or if introverted Intuition also plays a role with it.. Or inferior Ne in the ISFJ can also look like a type 6.. I've been struggling with this quite a lot lately, so I'd highly appreciate if you could answer it.
@jennywawa887 жыл бұрын
You may ask anything at all. And actually, your question is quite intelligent. 6w7 INFJ is not a common combination. I'll tell you what I've noticed about Ni + 6. I think having that dominant Ni function has, in many ways, served me well as a 6 because it helps to more accurately predict worst case scenarios and I find that I'm often more prepared for all sorts of things, even the bizarre, because I was able to use my Ni function to help me recognize patterns quickly and assimilate possible scenarios, and therefore applicable responses. I can tell you that I'm unquestionably the person you want to listen to if you need guidance about which direction to take, especially if stakes are high. On this flip side of this though, because Ni isn't really grounded in reality as it is (only as it could be), I have found that if I don't use my introverted thinking function, then I can get carried away with the worst case scenarios and it almost helps me over-react a bit quicker because my Ni function just shovels all these possible scenarios and predictions for the future at me and my little unsure 6 self is like, "Oh yeah that sounds really bad, what am I gonna do?!?!?!?" But as I've learned to use my Ti function a bit more, it helps me stay a bit more grounded and I can then say things like, "Ok, that may be true but do I have any hard evidence of that right now? No? Ok, well let's just put this idea on the side burner over and just ponder on it for a while and I get more information I can begin to build a more solid response or plan. I don't need to dismiss this, but I certainly don't need to freak out because that just renders the information pointless." Basically you've really hit the nail on the head, your supposition is quite right. And actually, the more that I think about this....The most I think topic is going to be it's own video. Hmmm. Stay tuned because I'm going to make a video for you to cover this because this be easier verbally explained I think. (Classic mark of an INFJ, LOL.)

I feel indifferent about your co-worker. "I'm a nutball?" Right? I didn't even frigg'n know her? Haha true. Though what your not seeing is that it's not so she could be "special" or "to draw attention"? That just happens to be a noticeable symptom as you being her co-worker. This is "Her Mask" so she feels safe, can hide behind, so She can earn a living. It has nothing at all to do with all of you!! It's a division of her professional self and her normal self. With her normal self being so heavily bombarded with residual emotion it's the only way for her to have some sort of split? This is a psychological method though necessary in every way.! You do what works for you. Fours definitely are Not Doing It to get attention? Fours can get attention whenever they want it! It keeps her happy, so she can Focus. And see it did the job. She not only excelled but mgmt also spoke highly of her. Ok I'm done now hehe

The Devil went down to Dunkin' Donuts. (Are there any in Georgia?) Managers on salary makin' that dough; he had some past[r]y 'souls' to steal. "Fill them with special Boston filling produced in Bavaria, and I promise you'll be cream of the crop." DD is Devilishly Delicious; how irresistible the taste of these Double D slogans must be. Anyway, why would he act like "eating a demon" is such a BAD thing? If the HCl acid in this commercial consumer's stomach completely dissolved a doughnut demon, that's one less so-called "evil" in this world to deal with--unless there are extra additives to such an extreme that subversively consumes the consumer to the point where all s/he can think about is consuming more DD products to where his/her own hedonism 'eats' him/her alive. Mwahahahaha Does he feel that way about other big highly successful mainstream corporations involving food/drink? Or is he just kookoo for Cocoa Puffs when it comes to DD?
