This remastered version adds more tension to the scene, which I can't help playing it in my head, as Van Cleef, Wallach, and Eastwood were walking the barren ground, with each measuring his steps and calculating..... The fact that this is REmastered added more immediacy and tension.... The remastering really added to the sweaty situation. Bravo!

I just listened to this for the first time, and it's one of the few pieces of music that made my hairs stand up. I've seen the movie a couple times, loved it and the soundtrack, especially Ecstasy of Gold and the main theme. But when I listened to this track, I actually got chills a few times during that trumpet solo, right around 4:35 for example. So powerful. I'm so glad I finally watched the Dollars trilogy.

I am just 24 years old, but because of his Timeless pieces, I feel delighted listening to them, despite people my age dismissing them as oldies. Most of my top favorite film scores were composed by him: Cockeye's Song, Deborah's Theme, GBU Main theme, Ectasy of Gold, Soldier's Theme, Man with the Harmonica, Cinema Paradiso, Gabriel's Oboe etc. Good he was able to win the Oscar before he passed away, he should have won back in Sergio Leone's time.

Ennio Morricone, the great Maestro whom world has ever seen and his contribution to the famous film, the good, the bad and the ugly speaks volumes after volumes to the mankind until the film industry lasts. The b/g rendered at the end of this film is spell bounding and spine chilling, revealing emotions of the different three type of characters, distinctively.

As much as I like the trumpet solo in 4:33, I think the final version (6:53) fits well with the climax of the duel in the movie. The trumpet solo, in my opinion, can be a bit overpowering. The final version fits perfectly for me because it emphasizes the tension as it nears the climax of the duel very well
