I would imagine you are limited to a different depth with each one by the drill point to where the threads would start because if the threading starts before the drill has gone all the way through the material it would want to put to much force down on the point and either strip the threading as it starts or break the drill.

I've used them quite a bit to drill and tap holes in large beams, etc using a mag drill and they work very well. The metal cannot be thicker than the length of the drill part because once the threads engage it will drive it too fast for the drill.

Oh and I believe the mag drill turned at 450 rpm?

Thanks for sharing. I bought the Dewalt brand of these and have used all of them to great success. The Dewalt brand cone step bit is a game changer and that’s why I went with their drill taps also. I’m glad the drill pro is a good one too.

These are ideal for use with variable speed drills, so you can spin them up to get the drilling started, then back off the speed (quickly, now !) to do the tapping part...i always use cutting fluid with these, unless somewhere in back of beyond, where you might have to get a couple of drops of oil from your vehicle's oil dip stick...

never had any luck with these. Possibly running too fast in my cordless drill. They stripped threads or broke in the the hole after binding on a chip
