How could Danny Ainge have forseen Gordon Hayward snapping his leg. How could Ainge have saw Irving ruin the team chemistry and Horford walking out. Ainge did everything he could to build a championship team. He signed 2 max FAs in Hayward and Horford. Traded minimal assets for Irving. Drafted two young talents in Tatum and Brown. He had a great plan. Ultimately, Hayward's injury completely wrecked the timeline of his plan and there wasn't anything he could do. Trading for AD would have left Boston with a 1 year window and a long rebuild afterwards. Celtics didnt have the pieces for Butler or George yet. Stephen A Smith is good at his job but he's wrong here. Ainge literally made no moves that crippled the franchise. It all fell apart by unpredictable circumstances.

I never liked that Kyrie trade to be honest. Not only because I like Isaiah, but the trade completely ruined the chemistry they had. He should've left it alone and brought another star or many role players alongside that original team. Sorry but he can't carry an entire team and he plays too much iso.

Where is Horford going? I heard something last night that it’s a “direct rival”. To me that says either LA or Brooklyn. He’d be a great fit in LA, but if I were them I’d spread my cap money around more. And if it’s Brooklyn, that’s interesting because it takes them out of the race for all the other big guys.
@mattpasta29875 жыл бұрын
Fritz G. Pierre interesting...didn’t think of them. Is that really enough of an upgrade over Brook Lopez for the difference in $ it will cost to get Horford?

Danny ainges job is to acquire talent. He did that in getting two legitimate stars in Hayward and Kyrie, signing al horford, and drafting Tatum and Brown. He has nothing to do with melding them together as a team, and had no control over Hayward's injury or the players ability to play as a functioning team. I blame Brad Stevens much more than I blame Danny Ainge for the Celtics shortcomings

Honestly I don't know why people are worried. They still have Tatum, Brown, and other good pieces like Marcus Smart. With a healthy Gordon Hayward this year, they could really take off. I am not worried. They had too much talent before and would have tons of cap room with Kyrie and Horford leaving. I love Horford, but 30M for him is a bit pricey.

What about Gordon Hayward for CP3? both trash contracts with upsides for both teams potentially.
@kathykelly59305 жыл бұрын
no, CP3 has more years left at higher value per year, by the end of Hayward's contract his number is going to be a big deal compared to what the new max will be by then. Plus Hayward is 5 years younger.
@WilliamLloydBevan5 жыл бұрын
My thinking is the young core could use those three years of cp3 style system play to grow and as a second or third option Hayward would be a better fit on rockets. Maybe even a Capella Cp3 for hayward and banes. They have kyrie and horford leaving and this would put them in contention in the east imo. +it would give rockets space to make a move for a big player in free agency too.
@kathykelly59305 жыл бұрын
@@WilliamLloydBevan well if capella is involved that would be tempting, but I bet they want to see if Hayward returns to form, whereas CP3 is on the decline for sure. Plus Stephen A is saying CP3 never asked for a trade, same with Morey.

You can't blame anyone in Boston for what happened to Gordon Hayward, and you can't make a good or reasonable assessment on him until at least midway through next season and see if he rebounds, gets back to form, or you know how to get as much value as you can in a trade. I agree that Ainge has been afraid to pull the trigger on top talent and has been getting lousy returns for his efforts. Don't get me started on his draft picks outside the top 6 ( Ojeleye, Yabusele, Melo, Young, Hunter, Sullinger etc...) But look what happened once he signed Hayward. What message does the situation in Boston send to small market teams about building up assets, developing players and having a championship run in mind when after six seasons of wheeling and dealing moves that everyone else is in awe of and commends Ainge for don't pan out and "stars" still want to leave the team? Boston hasn't tanked over the last 40 years, but you look at teams like MIN, NYK, CLE, DAL, PHI, PHO, CHI, LAC, SAC, SEA/OKC, (a third of the league) and wonder if those cities will ever win a championship without a Jordan, James or Durant caliber player. The last 40 championships have been won by only 12 teams (LAL, GSW, SAS, HOU, DAL in the West; BOS, CHI, DET, MIA, PHI, CLE, TOR in the East; 4 of which were one timers with all time great talent DAL, PHI, CLE, & TOR). "Oh, thank you for drafting me and paying me for all these years but this town sucks, but I can't say that so i'm going somewhere else, but I will blame the GM, ownership, coach, teammates but not the town or fan base" Even if NOP get success, the players will move on away from the team for higher pay or better surroundings

Are you people delusional, he still isn’t even playing, if you can have Kyrie for a player that has a career ending injury you do it 100% of the time, sports aren’t friendships dude it’s a BUSINESS.
