As an installer I love the fact they are 5kW & not 10. 10 kw batterys weigh a fu*king ton. More consideration needs to given to the people installing this kit.

I just bought my first one (to be installed soon). The only thing that ticked me off was finding that the handles I needed were not included and cost £200 (UK)!

Great information ! One question I’ve - how much power does a 5p typically consume during idle time or when it does nothing ? I’m reading lot of reviews that it requires lot of power for maintenance.

I had two installed with my solar system 2 months ago I would like to point out that you can only install 2 of these batteries on single phase power, to install more batteries you need 3 phase power, a bit of a let down as I would have liked 3,but as we are retired during summer we use the battery from around 7 -8pm till 1am the normal house runs all night and by 7am we still have between 40 - 50% charge left, however around tea time on a hot day I can riun my normal house supply, then turn on A/C, oven, dishwasher and TV and my system is 6.9 kw I start to use the battery as I draw 7.2kw, so overnight in summer you can't run the A/C and your normal home with TV because it will quickly drain your battery, ceiling fans when the sun goes down work a treat and you can still watch TV, boil a kettle, All up I'm happy with the job they do I have hardly used the grid since installing them, It's pretty shocking the new power company charges though, you pay by the hour even when you use only your batteries

On single phase 120/240 Volt power you can install (which 99% of residences are) you can install up to 80kWh (16 batteries). The battery does not currently work on three phase power (which is typically businesses and small commercial). The battery is designed for residential use and is applicable to over 99% of homes. Where are you located? And when you say single phase, do you mean you ONLY have 120V service and not 120/240 as in most homes? Your post is a bit confusing and leads me to believe either you have an extremely odd electric service or were simply misinformed. However, I'm located in the United States, so maybe this is something specific to Australia?

@@philbowden6371 When you say distributor, I assume you mean electric utility? WOuld like to clarify as distributor is typically referred to as the company from which the equipment was procured, versus an electric utility or Retail Electric Provider who is responsible for delivering electricity to your home (two very different things).

@@daniellejohnson6287 Woodcroft 5162 South Australia autumn here now and the sun starts charging about 8 am then by 4:30 pm its around .7 kw then nothing, this is based on grey sky with not much sunlight directly coming in, I can still have full batteries, but I need to cook with gas so stove top dishes no dishwasher, luckily we have gas heating and hot water plus gas cook top, this leaves me 35% charge till 8am just enough to get through

Someone asked about iQ7 series vs. available iQ8 series. If purely for ROI in the near-term, I understand saving money there and going with iQ7s. The iQ7A in particular are great microinverters for high wattage solar panels since they can handle 366VA loads, which is more than something like the iQ8+ can do. *But* there are certain features and future scalability reasons I like iQ8+ generation or later models: black-start (detailed in this video) sunlight backup creating "minigrid" (e.g. even if no battery, can have panels power items like house lights if sunlight is present), PLUS future options that Enphase is cooking up seem to ALL require at least iQ8 series microinverters as the oldest model to support them That all said, I'm waiting for newer options for bi-directional charging so I can have a wider array of EVs to choose from that can both be charged at home or use the car battery as a house backup which would be exponentially larger than a wall of iQ5Ps

Can you calculate what someones offset would possibly increase with adding 2 enphase 5p batteries to their solar panels system? Maybe 5.5 peak hours of sunlight?

My house in San Francisco has 9.1 kw of rooftop solar panels with the Enphase IQ8M inverters. I have measured up to 50 kwh/day power output on a sunny day, but I expect the average rate will be 25 kwh/day over the year. Since SF seems to have a number of power outages, I might add the 5 kwh Enphase battery. So, if the grid fails, I can expect to have some modest electric power during a sunny day and into the evening AND this could be repeated over several sunny days for an extended blackout. This modest battery could power over several hours my LED lights, OLED TV, modem + wifi router, and refrigerator (1 kwh/day).

With 9.1 kw the battery will be full in no time unless the weather is really bad or you manage to use all of the available power. Personally I have about two thirds of that, with half of it pointing in the wrong direction most of the day. For my home 5 kWh would fall just a little short to power everything in cloudy conditions, but on sunny days in summer it will be enough. As for peak power you may want two of those, just to make sure the big appliances can keep running and putting less stress on the one battery and making them both last longer if the cost is not an issue.

Only the IQ8 type have the ability to run during a Power cut - But they are currently not available in AU/NZ

@@unSTEVOED Funny about that I recently 3 months ago installed IQ8A micro inverters with 2 IQ5P batteries in Adelaide South Australia here's the thing the inverters only produce 6.9 KW power so no matter how many panels you have you wont get more power just shit loads to feed back to the grid, on a good day I can produce 56 kw and return 42 kw to the grid

@@unSTEVOED They are made in the US but suppliers have them in Australia, but as I found out don't buy the system from just a solar installer you have to get them from a Gold, Silver or Bronze Accredited Enphase solar company these ones have stock and specialize in Enphase only, not all solar companies have these 3 ratings and are not accredited installers
