Anything i write would be an understatement. I've never seen this much footage of Enrico Rastelli. Thanks.

holy s#!t !!! such style, such grace, infinite creativity, and so long ago!! this is mindbogglingly amazing!!! i'm so glad the camera was invented before he passed... thanks for posting this!

Enrico Rastelli was working his one hour show in Germany,my grandfather traveled from Spain to see him,and brought back on a notepad tricks and techniques,soon he was working them on stage,skipping rope and ball,mouth stick combinations,two balls bouncing on his head etc...now these techniques are reflected in my act. like many jugglers from the past,Ernest Montego,Francis Brunn.Bob Bransom,Bernardo Egea,I concider myself a remix of history and Rastelli is part of my mix, for me one of the best.

This is such a great video. He performs tricks that few can manage today. Some of his stunts are just incredible and some made me stare on the screen looking stupid with my mouth open. Like the juggling of 6 plates while spinning a ring on one leg and skipping rope at the same time :) And that he did this in the 20th. Did he himself invented most of the tricks or were there a juggling scene already back then? Regardless, what a great man! Thanks for the video!

Before KZbin it was super rare to find someone with access to this footage. In fact, this is the first time I've seen it in it's entirety. You used to get small clips pasted into a larger video about juggling. Thanks so much for posting and preserving this. It took the juggling world about 60 years to catch up to the level of Rastelli.

this guy is bananas. the 6 plates w/ leg ring and jumprope is nuts. and the foot-sole stalls in handstand are unbelievable. anybody know what his mini proto-clubs are made of?

I was amazed when I saw this too and I couldn't believe it wasn't on the internet. I think this is probably nearly all the footage of Rastelli that exists. I'm guessing that it originally came from the Karl Heinz collection. There's some analogue noise that must have got there between conversion from celuloid to analogue and conversion from analogue to digital so there's probably a higher quality version somewhere.

Not sure if he's still the world record holder but I remember him being in the old Guinness books (around 1980) for multiple world juggling records for balls, clubs, rings, etc. I wonder if any of those records were videoed? I'm amazed that I still remembered his name and decided to search for him on youtube! Thanks for the footage! Closes yet another gap in my memory.

I probably wasn't supposed to upload this so I put it on youtube but I'll think about providing a download version.
@peterbone13 жыл бұрын
@shanilmisra I think that the footage in this video is pretty much all that exists. Also, I think some of the records listed for him by Guinness aren't true. It is not known whether he juggled 10 balls or simply flashed it (big difference). Guinness don't always make the distinction.

at 1:04 he twirls a stick and a ball while something is making the stick on the mouthstick turn. is it a spinning ball or did he start the spin with his hands?

He had an infection in his mouth,from juggling with his teeth,and traverling around working with this infection the peleciline that he was supposed to receive to cure the infection did not arrived on time,allthogh he was the best paid juggler in those days,peleciline was hard to get,and the post I imagine that it was quite slow at that time, this is the version I have been told from old rastelli fans.

It’s crazy how a human can juggle like this. my 13 year old son is a juggler and he can only juggle 4 balls but not clubs and he is learning on how to do 5 and he can do tricks too but not these kind of tricks and he can’t juggle 4 very low either but he can juggle 3 very low. He almost juggles with every object he finds.

I heard eight plates(which were probably soft) and ten balls. To do this you throw 4 or 5 in each hand,(2) at the same time. He also bounced a ball on his head at the same time. Anthony Gatto was also able to do this.
@peterbone16 жыл бұрын
I find this unlikely as he died in 1931. You would have to be at least 80 years old to remember seeing him. If so then you're probably one of only a few living people to have seen him in person.

He didn't know the cascade, did he? Because he always juggled 4 or 6 objects and when juggling 5 he did 64.
@alexeim19663 жыл бұрын
He liked to cascade sticks. Mabie because the sticks looked better that way. With 4,6,8 and 10 objects he did up and down. The slightly easier rhythm of this gave him time to do crazy balancing tricks while juggling.
