Ensiferum are a true powerhouse when it comes to folk-inspired melodic death metal, something they hammer home more resolutely than ever with eighth full-length "Thalassic". The title translating from ancient Greek as "of or relating to seas", it's a suitably huge and wide-ranging collection that incorporates orchestrations and traditional folk instrumentation alongside the roaring guitars, bass, and drums. "I think we managed to take another step ahead musically and we also utilized the best parts of our old sound," states bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka. "There are lots of Ensiferum's trademarks: beautiful folkish melodies, ass-kicking riffs, a nice mix of different vocals and great singalong choruses."

It's beautiful but a 15 years-old boy will link this scene to old school guys. I talked to a 14 years-old boy not long ago. I'm 38. I asked him what he thought about rock bands in general. He answered: my father likes rock but not many teens I know are into rock. Well, it was clear to me he considered rock for older people but not for him and his friends.

Well, most teens I know are stupid as fuck, but me and some of my friends love metal ( I'm 16). This isn't for normies, but I would be happier too if there where more people in my generation who can appreciate this kind of music.

This is actually true. There are many rock/metal musician who switched to play electronic music as they could not generate enough interest with rock/metal.

@@minbari73 My comment is based on personal 1 to 1 interviews where they explain that they want to rock, but in order to stay in business they had to move to playing/making electric music as rock does not sell anymore. Who goes to Blues, Rock n Roll, Rockabilly etc concerts anymore? Genres die over time. This is the norm.
