Embrace of the Endless Ocean has been my favorite Amon Amarth song ever since I picked up the album when it first dropped in 2008, it was also my late brother's introduction to the band, and he was hooked from day one. Whenever I hear the chorus, I can't help but think of sitting around with him all those late evenings with a couple drinks and joints showing him what I've been listening to and seeing his excitement every time I brought out the Bluetooth speaker. It hits a little differently these days since he never made it home that unfortunate evening coming home from work, but I still listen and play it with him in my mind.

a little storytime here. some background first i'm named after Thor. at one point in my life, i was suicidal. in a talk with a friend, i said to him "i only fear what my death will cause to my friend and family, not death itself". in return he gave me advice that stuck with me until now "you know, everybody fear death. it's what people fear the most, the end of the road, the eternal darkness. but you said you don't fear death, so what else that life offer that can be more scary than death? so live your life to the fullest, because there's nothing else for you to fear". now, everytime i felt a weakness in my heart. i play Twilight of the Thunder God. i imagined myself in Thor's place. fearlessly riding to his death until the end. to remind myself that i don't fear death, thus i shouldn't fear whatever it is that trouble me currently. i couldn't count how many times i cried to that song. there were times i did it every couple hours, every day, every waking moment. that song is my strength (some context again, i have an avoidance issue. i ran away from problems in my life. so giving me the impression of riding fearlessly toward death like that is giving me strength to face my fear)
