Easily the most underrated game I've ever played. The combat may be simple, but once the upgrades kick in, it becomes quite enjoyable. The story is one of the most well-paced and emotional I've ever seen in a game. Some people complain that ending is disappointing, but frankly, I like that they didn't end it with Hollywood clichés. Frankly, when Monkey says "Turn it back on." after she cuts off the headband, that says all you need to know about how their relationship has developed. It's subtle and so much more satisfying than a kiss.

Kevin Manrique It needs to happen. Aside from the prevalent hand-holding that is in most games these days, it was a breath of fresh air. It was bright and colorful, whereas most retail games these days are brown, black, and grey. It has facial animations that are excellent even by today's high standards. Music to rival some of the best in the industry and fun team dynamic. Sure, there are bugs, but they don't happen every time and most are just aesthetic or audio glitches, nothing game breaking. It's just an overlooked gem and that needs to change.

twistedtick I first found this game when I bought an xbox magazine, it was one of the games on the demo disk and as soon as I played for five minutes it quickly became one of my favourite games of all time. I have lost count of how many times I've played through this and I still enjoy it every time.

twistedtick nah, I'd of liked a kiss. I think the reason he wanted to keep the headband on is because he didn't trust himself to stay, not because he wanted too. If he truly wanted too, he would have just removed the headband. He knows himself that the wasteland has turned him into a savage survivor and therefore incapable of sustaining relationships after spending so much time alone.

In a way though he kind of did? Like, she turned it off and was totally prepared to let him go. He was totally free to walk away if he wanted to. Instead, he found a way to tell her, without words (because he's Monkey and words probably don't mean that much to him), that he would rather risk death with her than survive without her. He wanted her to turn the headband back on because it was his way of saying "I care about you so much that if you die, I want to die with you". It was about tying their lives together. I mean you're not wrong, he definitely could have thrown the headband away and followed her without it. By choosing to keep it on, though, he is making a very clear statement about his feelings for her.

Whenever I saw the commercial for Horizon Zero Dawn, I was actually really pissed that it wasn't a sequel to Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Fuck do I love this game, and I've been playing it since it came out. Now that Horizon Zero Dawn is out, Enslaved may never get a sequel due to criticisms of it being too similar.

Seems like the people in "Pyramid" were in the "matrix". Monkey and Trip really were able to see the world the way it really was; pain and suffering..enslavement. If you "know" what i "know"...it was no coincidence this game didn't get much praise from reviewers... They say often people tell you the truth through jokes...apparently truth is being told through video games as well. I really enjoyed this game, it was simply amazing and easy to grasp. I never seen the ending because i got stuck on chapter 8 on hardest difficulty...smh not enough health. A great play! Hats off to the Devs, they truly made a precious jewel that has gone unnoticed.

i played this a while back because i heard it had great storytelling altho i knew the gameplay probably wouldnt be my thing. and its true, while the platforming is decent, apart from the occasional camera issues, the combat really isnt much to write home about. and since combat and platforming is all there is to the gameplay, thats not a positive feedback to give. but the story - tho nothing innovative of course - is beautifully told. characters are believable and likeable in their own way, and the game just manages to be genuinely funny or sad on many occasions. the people who scripted the cutscenes, as well as the voice actors, have done a tremendous job on this. still, i probably wouldnt play through it again, at least not if one can just rewatch the story like that. not sure what that makes for a final verdict for the game as a whole -.-

Using the philosophy of "don't dwell in the past, make a future beyond destruction/despair". I know, the way they build the character is so interesting tho. Especially Pigsy, a side character that I actually feel emotionally attached when he died. I felt the desperation to seek another human being, the struggle to survive in the desert, the way he speak shows how much despair and pain he have gone through. He told story of himself helping every stranger pass by but they never comes back, that's why he decide to follow Trip. He willing to gave up his life for the other because he is tired of watching other disappear in front of him, and also wanted to seek an excuse to selfishly disappear from the world that already fallen into calamity. The unbreakable bond by Trip and Monkey is so unique, I felt a sense of closure from Trip as I play as Monkey. It's funny how he play the role of Tsundere until her scream and tears imprint into his heart. In the end he just gave up his reasoning and survival instinct for her. She is like a child who see the beauty in every aspect of the world, even corruption itself. And slowly open his broken soul. Danm I need to play this game again T_T

I have heard Monkey's voice before, I can't quite place it though it reminds me of Satan from Splatterhouse. But now that I think of it he sounds like Bigby from The Wolf Among Us, or Andy Saint John from The Walking Dead.

+dairo1 but it's not real and it was going to end sooner or later, plus the actual world needs people to get back to its "pyramid days". I don't think there was a good or bad thing to do, some people will reject the real world and maybe even suicide, while some other will see the positive conseguences of Trip's decision in the long run. it was a really good ending in my opinion, but not many people seem to agree.

y'know what humans treasure above all other things? our freedom. no matter how desperate or noble Trip's reason, she took away Monkey's freedom. she may have said she was sorry, but I guarantee she's not. if I had been in Monkey's shoes, the second I was free of that headband I woulda spent hours strangling Trip till the light left her eyes.
