@@TGLReacts It is true! I have an edition of the manga that has little interviews at the end & Araki stated that he had based their designs on Arnold & Sylvester in it. Looking at the characters with that knowledge now makes me feel almost silly for not noticing. Also, if you pay close attention, there are bunches of musical references throughout all of the anime. For example, Ogre Street (episode 2, where Jonathan fights that guy with the bladed hat) is a reference to Ogre Battle by Queen, or Dio Brando being a reference to the band Dio & actor Marlon Brando.

In addition, when this part was originally being serialized, it was the era of "muscles" on the silver screen - guys like Schwarzenegger and Stallone... I wanted Jonathan to have a similar look to him - a look of unstoppableness." Here's a quote from the mini-interview at the end of the third & final volume I have of the manga; "People always love to compare who's cooler. Part 1 is slow but you don’t notice your first time

Just some Information for the future, JoJo's has some after-credit scenes which are often crucial to the plot. The Following Episodes have After Credit Scenes (If you watch it on sites like Netflix, Part 3 was released as 1 Season, so Season 2 and 3 are combined): Season 1 Episode 3 (Part 1 Episode 3) Season 1 Episode 26 (Part 2 Episode 17) Season 2 Episode 3 (Part 3 Episode 3) Season 2 Episode 24 (Part 3 Episode 24) Season 3 Episode 2 (Part 3 Episode 26) Season 3 Episode 20 (Part 3 Episode 44) Season 5 Episode 6 (Part 5 Episode 6) Season 5 Episode 13 (Part 5 Episode 13) Season 5 Episode 19 (Part 5 Episode 19) But i'd recommend that you always check after an Episode, to make sure. Which isn't that bad, since the Endings are really nice. Also, after finishing Part 5, you can watch the OVA's which are called "Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan".

Word of advice while watching, this isn't a big problem until Part 3 and beyond: The subtitles for certain names have to be changed due to copyright. As you know, a lot of JoJo has a bunch of musical references that becomes much more obvious in later parts, such as Green Day which had to be changed to "Green Tea". It would be appreciated from us (as well as possibly yourselves) to find versions of the episodes that have "correct" subtitles that aren't changed for copyright. And, in my personal opinion, some of those fan-made subs are better than the official subs.

Since this is the start of the journey, I'll try to reference the many music and other references araki put in his story writing (mostly music) for each of the episodes you watched ^_^ Dio's name partially comes from the heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio, founder of the supergroup "Dio" Erina Pendleton's name is possibly a reference to the Clive Nolan band Pendragon The name of the street they go to called 'Ogre Street is believed to be a reference to queens song 'Ogre Battle' The university where Jonathan and Dio studied is named Hugh Hudson Academy. This is likely named after Hugh Hudson, a British film director, known by the masterpiece movie Chariots of Fire. The concept designs of Jonathan and Dio came from Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose films were popular at the time. Jonathan is vaguely influenced by Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star. Dios surname is possibly named after the actor Marlon Brando. The name Jonathan came from a local restaurant called Jonathan's that Araki used to visit frequently. When Dio is unsure of Jonathan's survival and seen drinking on the street he is seen to be drinking from a bottle. The label on the bottle reads both "Cronenberg," a reference to the Canadian director, David Cronenberg as well as "Dead Zone" a Stephen King movie adaptation Cronenberg had directed.

If not, then you will most likely hear it, especially in Part 4, because they used alot of names which were copyrighted in the censored version. Then they will say a very obvious Band name, whilst the subtitles say something completely different. As long as that doesn't happen, it's all right.
