In regards to Joseph's Stand, you're right, it isn't a fighting Stand. It's telepathic and defensive and it the literal physical form of Hamon. Araki said if you could see Stands in part one and two, you would have seen Hermit Purple wrapped around Joseph. It's the reason he was able to know what people would say before they said it and also the reason he got out of so many sticky situations...it was never luck, it was his Stand working without him realizing it. So remember, the things we loved about Joseph's fighting style was because of his Stand, so don't hate on it ;)

So, basically the concept of the Joestar birth mark was first introduced in the part 3 manga, when David Productions got to make the anime they fixed that and put the birth marks in Jonathan and Joseph to make it consistent. also, incredble video as always!

And just another thing, the painting scene with Kakyoin is purely flourish (just like the string puppet he was using with the school nurse), thats not what his Stand power is. people tend to not make the connection, in the old ovas it was better shown.

I actually have a theory regarding that power and his possession power. My idea is that basically because a stand is a manifestation of a user's spirit the flesh bud in Kakyoin's head which obviously affects him and makes him evil would also affect his stand, creating this "more evil" powers like possession and whatever. But it's just a little idea I like :)

Glad someone managed to say it earlier than I did-- seriously, I'm getting a bit tired of people saying "Well why didn't Kakyoin use this power in the later battles!?" Because no, it's just his Hierophant Green's tendrils becoming so very thin and near invisible to the naked eye (discounting non-Stand users because they already can't see Stands). That and he can genuinely make his Stand control other people when/if he has the chance.

Fun fact: the name for the visions known as Stands not only come from them appearing near their user, as in "to stand next to someone," but also from "Stand by Me." Source: part 3 manga, beginning of chapter 26, SJ advanced and ViZ media hard back edition. you can actually see joseph's stand on his part's opening as a little easter egg, one of the fan interpretations is that the way his personality is exemplifies his stand and his stand, even though dormant, shines trough him is when he predicts what his opponent is going to say so perfectly, he's smart enough to know how they will react, wich made "clairvoyancy" (of sorts) the main feature of his stand wich in turn helped joseph a bit by making his already perfect reading of someone's psyche into knowing what their next line will be, wich is also something other hammon users experienced in different ways

We've finally made it to part 3. New part, new JoJo! Jotaro's demeanor and character is based on Clint Eastwood! Araki is a really big fan of the actor. Best thing about this, is that Clint Eastwood himself officially shook hands with Araki and performed the famous Jotaro point pose alongside him for a magazine! Jotaro Kujo is not a nice guy. In fact, he is QUITE the asshole. I'll include a spoiler free interview of Araki's perspective on writing the character of Jotaro Kujo in a reply to this comment Jotaro does not always do what he think's is right, but rather he does what he wants. This is only just the beginning, but you guys should pay close attention to Jotaro's behavior as Part 3 progresses! But regardless, he will be our hero this time around. And he'll be getting some companions along the way as you see so far. Avdol and Joseph Quick fun fact for you folks: Mohammed Avdol's last name is actually Abdul. His name is based on the American singer: Paula Abdul! The manga of JoJo has a lot of interesting little tidbits about the characters and their personalities. When asked about how he wrote the character Jotaro Kujo. Araki says: "The idea to make the main character of Part 3 a Japanese person had been in my head since the beginning of Part 1. JoJo was originally planned to have three parts. It would pass through different eras to the modern age, where the main character would leave Japan to go and finish things. I thought that’d be a fitting way for it to end. But I didn’t want to make it a ‘tournament-style’ manga, which were very popular in Shonen Jump at the time. That’s when I got the idea to make it like a road movie, similar to Jules Verne’s “Around the World in 80 Days.” In later years, when a certain TV comedian traveled across Eurasia on a TV show, he followed a similar route. Just like how I coined the “Bizarre Adventure” term before the “Bizarre Stories of the World” TV show, I’d also like to say here that JoJo used that route first. (Laugh) Jotaro was modeled on Clint Eastwood, who I really respect. Jotaro’s pose with his finger out, which has become really popular now, came from one of Eastwood’s poses with a .44 magnum. Jotaro’s “Yare yare daze” quote also came from one of Eastwood’s lines, which went something like this: “Bank robbery? Gimme a break…” I took a lot of inspiration from the roles that Eastwood has played, right down to details like these. Perhaps because of that, Jotaro seems a bit mature compared to other shonen manga main characters. I think Joseph was a better fit for the Jump style of main character. But to me, Jotaro is a true hero. To me, heroes are solitary. They don’t seek value or praise for doing what they believe is right. In other words, their justice goes unrewarded. Sometimes, going down the just path makes them end up alone. Basically, I think heroes aren’t supposed to have allies. Jotaro never opens his heart and keeps his feelings inside because he’s a lone hero. Even after defeating enemies, he never goes wild and gets happy. He just says “Yare yare daze.” That’s all he needs. As of now, Jotaro is a representative character for JoJo. I based all the visual design of all later JoJos off of him to make sure that they would all be unique and different from him. It all came from the bizarre sensibility and fantastic among the everyday that was born from the idea of a young man in a school uniform traveling through the desert. And Jotaro isn’t just wearing a normal school uniform, but one with a chain on the collar, and two belts. I thought carefully about how to make him seem like a delinquent without ruining the balance. One image that comes to mind when you think of delinquents is how some boys attach chains to their wallets and hang them down from their pants. But guess what? Jotaro’s chain came first as well. (Laugh)"

Oh boi here we are. I even wrote the references up ahead of time for the start of part 3! To a journey of plenty of laughs, references, memorable memes and epic battles (also tears). This whole part araki decided to take a massive risk and implement a new power system where he could let his creativity go even further beyond. Part 3 truly changed the series of jojo and built the foundations of what makes jojo battles so great and bizarre with the introduction of stands ^_^. Now, onto the references ! References for episode 1 and 2! Araki mentions that some of the inspiration for Jotaro's character comes from Hollywood actor, Clint Eastwood. Muhammad Avdol is named after American singer Paula Abdul. Magician's Red may be designed after Uriah Heep's song "The Magician's Birthday" Kakyoin's favorite musician is Sting. Hierophant Green's design may being inspired from C.C.R's album "Green River" Jotaro's absent father Sadao Kujo might be named after Japanese jazz musician Sadao Watanabe Though not a reference, I just wanted to say that you can actually spot Joseph's Hermit Purple in the part 2 opening for a split second :P was a cool ass Easter egg. Also the 'Jojo but really really fast" spoiled how Dio came back, so now you can watch parts 1 and 2 of that whenever ^_^. Memorable jojo memes! I dont know which episode it would be, but I can almost guarantee that jotaro says his catchphrase "Yare Yare Daze" (Good Grief) Episode 2 - ORA ORA ORA! Araki being the clothes trender he is always wanted to be unique. So instead of having pants with chains hanging off it, he instead had him have a chain on his trench coat jacket instead. He got 2 belts because he just got drip I guess, and don't even bother asking about that bloody hat because us fans of jojo don't know how the fuck it works either 😂 you just accept the hat. When you asked "why didn't joseph use his stand to fight" It made me want to comment that stands don't just come as humanoids but in all shapes and sizes depending on you as a individual. Josephs fighting spirit/stand is a representation of his history with his history of hamon ^_^. So technically joseph could fought jotaro instead of avdol, but I rather have bird man fight purple man instead of thorny vines :) Joestar birthmarks. In the manga this was never actually drawn in part 1 and 2, but in the anime they actually did put the birthmarks on Jonathan and Joseph before part 3. Just some quality of life details the animation studio did ^_^ Yep Dio survived by taking over Jonathan's body, but no clue if ya caught that the chest had a secret compartment in it at the start of episode 1. So technically at the end of part 1, Dio was right below Erina when she was floating in the sea before being saved :P. And only reason he couldn't leave for 100 years was because he didn't know if he could leave the chest without dying to the sun. So the whole reason dio is out and about now is because 3 idiots with super developed muscles wanted to become the next Nathan Drake. Oooooo they played jotaros theme! Jotaros theme is truly iconic and was THE jojo theme before part 5 came out. Totally recommend looking up jotaros theme and just listening the sick beats and adding to ya playlist along with the pillarman theme, Propaganda theme and joseph joestars theme ^_^

I wouldn't but too much stock into the stats because from what you have already seen some stands ability might not be power or speed oriented so someone with an OP stand ability can have trash stats and vise versa, someone with strong stats might lose instantly to a strong ability.

Haven't watched it but I'm going to point this out first, Joseph and other Hamon users all would have Stands similar to Hermit Purple. That's the reason why Hamon users, for example Zeppeli's teacher, Tonpetti, are able to predict futures, and that is mostly seen when Joseph predicted people's next lines, not just by intelligence or luck, but also by fate and mastering Hamon itself. That's why Jonathan has the same type of Stand, used by DIO later on. It's just that Joseph couldn't see nor control Hermit Purple before his Stand was awakened

The hype!! I will say this: This part sometimes gets criticism for "being too long" or having "unnecessary moments." But this part focuses on a journey, and you as a viewer, as part of this journey. Everything comes together perfectly in the end. If you enjoy it for what it is, you'll have an absolute blast with this part. Also, it was present before (R.E.O. Speedwagon, The Pillar Men, etc.) but some Stand/Stand user names are references to musicians/bands, and their names are copyright blasted HARD. For the proper names, try and listen for their real names rather than reading the subtitle names.

Hello from France! (One character in part 3 is French, by the way.) If you like the fact that each part is different, you're in luck. Each part is inspired by a movie style: part 1 is a cloak and dagger movie with vampires, part 2 is inspired by movies like Indiana Jones, and for the others, I won't spoil anything. So the basic rules of Stands are as follows: Stands can only be seen and heard by other Stand Users Stands can only be damaged by other Stands Any damage inflicted upon a Stand will damage the user as well, usually in the corresponding place. Stands can do pretty much anything, and are pretty much only limited by the range they can get from the User, or the circumstances required to fully use or activate certain powers Though their effects can sometimes go further from the User than the Stand itself can, like if Magician's Red blasts a fireball, the fireball can go further from Avdol than Magician's Red itself can All of these rules apply at all times, except when they don't.

Fun fact:JoJo was made in 1993 and it has arealy huge influence within the anime community and this is where the jojo joke that everything is jojo refference comes into play since in that time jojo was realy popular in japan and had a large influence with mangaka creators that most animes would have jojo refferences for the popular examples No game no life,demon slayer (the entirety of the anime is litteraly a jojo refference stated by the author the sword breathing styles=hamon breathing),gintama,my hero academia,kill la kill and the legendary god of anime POKEMON
