Torben H. It actually made me think of the second episode from the first season, where they have to cycle on a stationary bicycle in front of the screen of their choice (pretty similar to the VR helmets here) in order to provide some energy. One day, the protagonist sees what's wrong and tries to change what's happening, but he gets caught himself in the system and eventually becomes part of the images the cyclists can watch. So yeah, looks like it was inspired from there!

Man, this song and video just hit right in the feels. This is exactly how I feel, beeing a common worker with no purpose, striving to scrape enough money for a vacation now and then, being fed what happiness is through social media and when this system gets you down - take a pill and smile. I know ES have acknowledged how glad they are to be able to do what they do for a living, but the fact that they do so while striving to spread important and meaningful messages is so inspiring!

they're legit the nicest dudes. Out in the U.S they aren't as big and mainly play small venues. Saw them once as they were making their way into the venue when I was smokin with my buddy and chris was walking by with rory. No one seemed to notice them but we were like Yo Rory! he stopped and gave us a quick fist bump but was like "I'll be right back I gotta put my stuff down". We didn't think much of it but he came back like, 5 minutes later and just shot the shit with us for a couple minutes and thanked us for the support. amazing group of guys.

I suffer severe anxiety, last year I heard they were playing in Norwich for the first time in 4 years on the 20th Jan. I had noone to go with so decided to "kick anxiety in the teeth" and went alone. Once in there when these guys were on I really wasn't alone. I was one with everybody else including the band themselves. It was an amazing experience and this song sums up the experience for me. Before going I was scared as hell for weeks, once I got that queue though I was in the zone and l rewarded with this being a perfect finale. Was a truly life changing night for me. Never let anxiety stop you from doing something you really love, don't let it rule your life.

take the concept of the lyrics and the concept of the video together, then realize how amazingly the poppish music goes hand-in-hand with the escapist theme of the song. and even for a "pop song" it has strong songwriting and does what it aims to really well. one of the most brilliant singles they've put out, incredibly hyped about the new album

Does the following make sense? There is a street with a retirement home on the one side, and a kindergarten on the opposite side. The speed limit is 40 km/h. You speed down that road going 120 km/h and get caught by a law enforcement officer. The next day you are in court trying to defend yourself. You tell the Judge ‘’Im sorry I will never do it again’’ to which he replies ‘’by keeping the law in the future does not make up for breaking it in the past. There is a penalty that needs to be paid. If I let you go now, the penalty will be unpaid and no justice would be served.’’ The penalty he gives you is massive - you cant pay it because you don’t have that kind of money. You go to prison. Later that night, your 1stnight in prison, the warden comes and open your cell door telling you that you are free to go. Someone paid your fine. Will you accept the payment or will you remain in ‘’prison’’? You asked the prison warden ‘’who paid my fine?’’. He says some guy went and sold all he has in order to pay your penalty. You say ‘’cool thanks, I don’t even know the guy’’. What would you do next? 1. Climb into your car and drive down that very street again @ 120 km/h, knowing or assuming this stranger will pay your penalty again because he might have some other stuff to sell to bail you out again? 2. Try and find out who this person is and get to know him and thank him for what he has done. Also not to do what you did that caused you to land up in prison because it cost this person who paid your penalty a lot - He made a massive sacrifice for you. If the fine was $ 100 000 000 and you took out a loan to pay the penalty (hypothetically speaking), you would still be & 100 000 000 in debt. Only someone without debt can pay your debt. Jesus was without sin. Adam and Eve were naked in the garden before eating the forbidden fruit. They did not notice anything strange of their nakedness - to them it was normal. Once they ate of the forbidden fruit, their eyes opened to their sinfulness - they disobeyed God and realized they were naked. ‘’ The woman saw that the tree was good for food and delightful to look at, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. ’’ Genesis 3:6-7 The fig leaves they sewed together can also be seen as ‘’self righteous works’’ to cover up their sin - the fig leaves won’t last forever as they will dry out and wither, exposing their nakedness again. God provided proper clothing for them to cover their nakedness properly…….. ‘’The LORD God made clothing from skins for the man and his wife, and he clothed them. ‘’ Genesis 3:21 This is the 1st time anything died / was killed. It was killed so that the skin of the animal could be used as clothing for the 2 naked people instead of them using leaves. During Passover the Jews had to sacrifice a lamb each year to atone for their sins. The lamb had to be spotless and without blemish. Jesus is called THE LAMB OF GOD as He was without sin, YET HE was slaughtered so that his BLOOD could cover our sins. Our good works (fig leaves) wont do. *For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift-9 not from works, so that no one can boast* Paul Ephesians 2:8-9 *And just as it is appointed for people to die once-and after this, judgment-28 so also Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him* Heb 2:14-15 *According to the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness* Hebrews 9:22 Islam and all world religions = DO DO DO DO DO DO Christianity = DONE

News flash - every Enter Shikari song is different. love it
@kitkatkristy337 жыл бұрын
Da Steelerz I can't fully agree. Most of their songs have similar elements, even with mixing different genres of music and Rou's occasional shouting. This was rather same-y throughout, kinda like Radiate. It's good, but isn't as strong as a lot of their other songs.
@dasteelerz74137 жыл бұрын
Well isn't your display name just perfect for you. ;-) I'm saying as a band, each song of theirs is something different - as they are not afraid to try new types of songs. Many highs and many lows. That's what I love is that they try new things often. They do stick to a "rock music genre" of course. For example, compare zzonked with Constellations. Warm Smiles with Ssnakepit.. They use certain elements but use them beautifully to keep things fresh. That is what I appreciate.
@kitkatkristy337 жыл бұрын
Da Steelerz I'm not salty about it. The song is actually growing on me, just like other Shikari songs I wasn't sure about, but I still don't feel this is a strong song for them. It was repetitive and they're at their best when they aren't. This was new for them, but they were always different to other bands. This didn't feel different.
@omfggtfoyq7 жыл бұрын
It sounds repetitive and pop-like for a reason, and the video kinda syncs up to it very well. I don't get how that's going over your head.
@kitkatkristy337 жыл бұрын
It hasn't. I get the contrast between the Orwellian video and happy sounding song, which is why I like it. I just don't think the song on its own is them at their best.

You won't believe me, but that is what happened to me since i found the song yesterday, today i woke up and it is a very fresh, wakening song. It is not about what kind of music it is, but who makes it, people say it is Pop and that makes it bad, but who cares, Bob Marley was Pop too, there was a lot of great Popmusic in the '80's, just because all this sluts on "mtv" fucked it literally up, doesn't mean Pop is bad.

i genuinely dont understand why this band is disliked at all they have honestly released a more than unique back catalogue of incredible albums, bending genres and making them their own with politically charged lyrics that have powerful messages, interesting and unique grooves that mix in a drum and bass style of playing. playful bass lines that highlight certain areas of the songs when everything is dialed back a bit. and guitar work that is held back when it needs to yet fenomenally complex and explosive with its riffs when the song requires it. plus screams that fit in the right songs and singing and harmonization that is heavenly. top this off with great synthesizer samples and atmosphere building effects and you get simply one of the best modern bands in the last twenty years. even if you disagree with everything ive just said you cant say anything sounds like this band. these guys deserve to become classics in the years to come and i hope other people will see that and celebrate their discography as much as us fans do now.

I want to live outside, live outside, of all of this I want to live outside, live outside, of all of this I want to live outside, live outside, of all of this I want to live outside, live outside, of all of this I keep taming, keep training, keep taming the horse But it's wild, it's feral and it's running its course Patiently madness waits in line In the reception room of my mind Waiting for the thought to be left Unattended and open for an unwanted guest And it's so busy I'd be surprised If I even noticed I want to live outside, live outside, of all of this I want to live outside, live outside, of all of this I want to live outside, live outside, of all of this I want to live outside, live outside, of all of this No they don't even know about us They don't even know about us No they don't even know about us I'm gonna live outside, live outside, of all of this I'm gonna live outside, live outside, of all of this I'm gonna live outside, live outside, of all of this I'm gonna live outside, live outside, of all of this now I'm gonna live outside, live outside, of all of this I'm gonna live outside, live outside, of all of this I'm gonna live outside, live outside, of all of this I'm gonna live outside, live outside, of all of this now

Is it this neuron buzz is on another level? Like an English expression of getting buzzed like getting high or a buzz of coffee, just wondering
@bricktopgaming57507 жыл бұрын
not quite neurons are a part of your brain and being on some drugs can make it feel as if you're "buzzing" which is an english colloquialism for being in a euphoric state. you got the meaning but its not an expression used its a euphemism.

Once again shows shikari are just an extremely talented bunch! The song is great and it does grow on you, it won't necessarily set the precedent for the entire album, as the new album was described by Rou as "our most intense". People have shat on every shikari album and eventually loved it. The same will happen here.

Man, Enter Shikari has been a step ahead in terms of genres since they formed. They doesn't make music of a genre, they make a fucking NEW genre in almost every album.

Anyone else remember when everyone said they hated Common Dreads? I'm honestly so used to it now I would actually be concerned if people didn't complain about a new Shikari song lol

I'd be surprised and concerned if Shikari didn't try new sounds and experiment with a new album.

Jon Martin it's not so much that people don't like it, people just moan non stop. Shikari are really diverse, think him different Ghandi mate ghandi is to stalemate or slipshod is to system meltdown. Some people want the exact same song over and over again but that's so boring.

my first listen to Common Dreads brought me to tears, no lies. Such a good album.

Shikari always dabble in many styles & often mix and match styles that haven't really been done before, which means not everyone will like it when they try something new. Listen to TTTS then Common Dreads back to back. Stylistically, they're extraordinarily different, and its not surprise that people didn't like it, because back then noone knew what Shikari was about, and that every album would be a totally new sound for the band. They're one of the few bands that can really push their creative abilities into many styles but still keep that unique essence that makes their songs Enter Shikari songs.

Can't see what all the fuss is about. Alls I can see is a mosh pit full of smiles as we nudge off each other belting that chorus out. And the deeper message to this song is very relatable to a lot of us but I guess it's all personal preference!

I love this so much. In a pretty shitty place right now, both mentally and financially and this song and this video just depicts exactly how I feel right now. Slogging through daily life with that vision of "something better" but it's all just an illusion fed to you to keep you content. Listening to this on repeat is breaking the system and putting a smile on my face when not many other things are. So I thank Enter Shikari for once again being my saving grace when I need it. It's only the 3,000th time you've done this for me and I definitely owe you all one. 💜💛💜💛 much love. ✌🏻️

This song is almost the prime example of worker alienation as the surrender of the self and self agency. Due to being pressured to work oneself to the bone for a figure they barely even see let alone relate to on a human level. Losing your humanity through constant repetitive work. Not even being aware of how depressed and removed from your sense of self worth and well your human potential till it's already gone. Feeling closer to an automaton rather than a independent human being. Another cog in a gargantuan machine you will never be able to understand let alone overcome to reclaim your humanity and idea of the self.

I understood the meaning behind the music and the music video for the very first time today. It makes me feels so many emotions. It makes me miss and hate and love, and makes me wants to go to war with a reality that makes us unable to reconnect, to rekindle, to undevide what we devide in. How do we defeat a system...that tricks into thinking there is nothing to defeat?
