I remember discovering this album the year after I graduated from high school and it absolutely absorbed me and I was immediately a fan for life. My brother, who fell into the emo scene back then, disliked Rou's vocals particularly his uncleans. Admittedly they are quite raw and rough by comparison to their later material but as an aspiring musician it made me hopeful that just about anyone would listen to something different. People can have their different opinions, but this album helped encourage me to keep up with my vocals as much as I have this entire time since.
