There's just NO way that Shayne actually thinks it's pronounced like that... I've had a fraction of the education he had, and even I know for a fact that it's pronounced k-asm. I'd say it's likely some weird unspoken bit that nobody is laughing at, or Shayne has jokingly been saying chasm the wrong way on purpose for so long that it stuck.
