🌎 : NISHINARI, OSAKA (8.6/10)
This is my first viral video. The day was jam packed with excitement. I met a colorful Ex-Yakuza gang member, stumbled upon Japan's largest hidden red light district and drank Shochu with many interesting people, many of whom warned to be careful in this area. After watching Sabbatical explore this area, I wanted to check it out for myself and boy was I pleased i went to Nishinari 西成 slum in Osaka. Enjoy the video and watch it 100% with a cup of tea.

Dan. Sooner or later i'm gonna be a corpse in the ground, worms eating my body and my atoms will disassemble and move off to finds new uses elsewhere in the universe, probably to create a turd. Why take things so serious, why work a job you hate, why listen to people telling you to do things you don't want to do, life's too short for any of that foo foo. I create exploration videos in the hopes of inspiring others to travel and see planet earth. Waterfalls, Aurora Borealis, Curry, Pyramids, Lions, Live Music & Laughter. How Bout That?

Dan, I have to first say, this was a fantastic video. I'm tuning in from the U.S. & I'll be traveling to Japan in October for the first time for a month. I favor videos/vlogs like these where people travel to places that more locals frequent over touristy areas/attractions (no shade to them lol). But your interactions with the locals were pure, funny, and just wholesome. I get that everyone will have their own experience while in Japan, but this is exciting me even more; to truly exchange culture, language and outright respect is a major goal of mine. And the text at the end, "Why have a 9 to 5. Life's too short.", man, I was meant to see this vlog. And with that you just earned yourself another subscriber! Continue to build life-long connections! Peace!

Hello from Oregon, USA -- I lived in Osaka from 1993-2008. From midnight to 5:00am, Nishinari-ku and Shinseki become very different beasts compared to daytime hours and were my favorite places to hang-out when I missed the last train of the night home. Lots of stuff goes on when the night people come out.

A guy from South Korea got followed and stabbed multiple times for his wallet, and then was thrown down a flight of stairs where he died from a broken neck. There were cameras that captured the whole thing, but they still never caught the culprit. Not only was no one convicted, the entire thing was kept hush hush to prevent scaring away any tourists. Crime happens everywhere, only in Japan you just don't hear about it. Never let your guard down. The dad of the South Korean guy tried to seek justice, but was told to f-off by the police... it's a damn shame.

@@whereisdan yeah I know, and you can't even carry your own pocket knife over there either because it's illegal... so everyone is just a sitting duck with no way to protect themselves and police that don't give a damn. Knives are basically like silenced guns with infinite ammo, that poor guy got stabbed up in a public crowded area and no one even noticed. He was traveling alone, so he was a prime target.

Feel sorry for that korean victim. Actually not only crimes but other embarrassing stuff in japan are often underrated and hushed up systematically.

Walk, Hitch Hike, Bus, Cycle and Drive across Japan. Start from Waijima, go to Noto Peninsula, go to Gero Onsen, Go to Mt Fuji then head to Satsuma, Honda City, Go to Matsumoto, Go to Gifu, Go to Seto City, Go to Toyotashi, Go to Imaike, Go to Nagoya, Go to Nishiki, Go to Sakae, Go to Kyoto, then Go back to London. Better you stay ignorant and only learn basic Japanese manners and the basic common words and have difficult things written on paper by Japanese people for you if you need specific things i.e. accomodation etc stay away from tourist areas anywhere you go. Japan is safe and a great country for sight seeing and to travel on a low budget. Oh Yeah Kanazawa is cool also Iga City in Mie Prefecture and neighbouring Koka City in Shiga Prefecture, two areas jointly considered to be the birthplace of ninja arts.

Oh yeah. Always show gratitude to Japanese hospitably and they will really care for you and over extend their generosity. Speak slowly to them when speaking English and use really basic English phrases. Also use Google translator and it will say in Japanese to them on loud speaker. Regards, Australia@@whereisdan
