🇲🇲 Entering Myanmar in 2023 here's what you need to know

Hi folks, NatNomad here. An ex-Buddhist monk from Laos with a big dream of seeing the world. Throughout my time for over 10 years being a monk I kept asking myself this one question "What life is like out there beyond the monastery?" And because of this question alone made me take a big step in 2014 when I finally say goodbye to my wonderful monastic life.
And now I'm doing what I've always wanted to do. Though I am not quite sure if I can say that I'm living my dream but you know what I'm loving my new adventure.

This is what you have to provide in order to come to Myanmar. 1. Travel insurance, that covers accident and Covid-19. It is better to book it through the Burmese government. Check out the link below: www.mminsurance.gov.mm/ 2. Do bring some cash, some people got asked to show $1,000 in cash. However, at the immigration they only asked me for the insurance, but when I checked in at Bangkok Airport, I was asked how much cash I have. 3. The proof of hotel book. 4. Return ticket. 5. The Myanmar tourist visa. I didn't need visa because we're ASEAN member countries. Note: Facebook, messenger, Instagram and X are restricted. You can use them if you have the VPN. WhatsApp you can only send messages but not photos or videos. Thanks for following me and my adventure. Cheers!

Sorry but I live and work here. You only need VPN for Facebook. Its not China (where I lived and worked 10 years) TwitterX etc all work fine no vpn. No need for sensationalist thumbnails

I’m surprised that you were not concerned about the ongoing strife in Myanmar… Were you at All concerned about your safety? I would love to travel there, but because of the civil strife and war, it’s a place that I don’t think I could go to… I feel for the people in the culture which is very rich, and I’m sure inspiring… I pray that the day will come that I could travel there

I was a bit worried before I flew to Yangon. But after doing some research, it kind of relaxed me a bit. Just avoid the red zone, especially in the north. in a big city like Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan are safe.

It is necessary to get travel insurance for Myanmar. I purchased online and it costs $50 for 15 days. You can also get it at the airport in Yangon

Why did you do a clickbait thumbnail with information that is not correct? I live and work here along with hundreds of other foreigners. I know drama videos make people click but you need to paint a balanced view. I also run a KZbin and live and work here so I have a bit more of a clue as an international doing this over a decade in places like Mainland China previously.

@@natnomadif you ask anyone in Myanmar big cities like Yangon, mandalay, literally everyone here use Facebook and Instagram everyday (yes, we got free vpm but authorities doesn’t really care we use vpm to assess Facebook/Instagram/KZbin). Anyway, stay safe and don’t go to restricted area like Shan state. Hope you enjoy your stay in Yangon

how much you buy insurance? and do we really need to bring cash? i don't like carrying so much cash because it is not safe, i will only stay for 3 days maybe

I paid $50 for 15 days. for 30 days, I believe it was $85 or something. For cash, yes, you will be asked at some point either at the counter when you check in before you board the flight or upon arrival at the airport in Myanmar. I had only $300 cash and a few thousand Thai Baht, and some bit of British pound last time. And it was fine, as I have purchased the insurance and I have a hotel booking reference as well as the return ticket.

They're not ban, only restricted. You can use the VPN to be able to use them. Grab app is fine and KZbin is fine too
