A quick work-in-progress demonstration of the Master Systems Display graphic on the command bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-E, as seen in Star Trek: First Contact. Base MSD graphic provided by Doug Drexler, with modifications and animations to match its on-screen appearance in the film. Blinking shapes are all approximations based on video clips from the film. All models, textures, and graphics by Donny Versiga. Modeled in 3ds Max, Textured in Substance Painter, graphics created in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects. Rendered with Unreal Engine 4.

wow, great work. it's nice to see all the LCARS Animations integrated in the Bridge. And thank you very much, that you used the TNG/VOY we saw in the First Contact and Insurrection and not the blue Nemesis ones

Agreed the DS9/VOY colour scheme is much nicer than the Nemesis LCARS 😁

I did not expect the lighting reflections to move with the 'camera' angle. Extraordinary.

Love that. Where does the bridge audio loop come from? Wild to think the TOS sonar ping is still buried in there.

Amazing! I’m humbled by the amount of details and work this must have taken. Do you have any tips for aspiring artists on how to make models look real?
@DVersiga1984
@DVersiga1984 3 жыл бұрын
That's a hard question to answer briefly, but if you want your models to look "real", then invest time into building your texturing skills. It's an often overlooked skill by aspiring 3D artists, one that took me years to properly invest time in mastering. My work really started to take off once I learned how to make realistic textures for my models!

This is absolutely amazing!!! The details are staggering!!!! I have been trying to find the Enterprise E bridge ambience for years since the 1990's game "Star Trek: Captain's Chair". Are you able to make a longer ambient video of the Enterprise E? :)

Donny, would it be alright if I used your beautiful Enterprise E renders in a Star Trek music video featuring a reimagined version of the TNG movie theme song?

This is truly amazing sir! Are those 4K textures for the animated displays? How did you animate them? After Effects? What format did you export them out to, if you don’t mind me asking. I’m happily impressed.
@DVersiga1984
@DVersiga1984 3 жыл бұрын
Most of the animated displays are just 1k videos. No need for 4K for those. The video resolution of the animations on the MSD is a 4k video. Animated in After Effects, exported as MP4s.

Where'd you get the Enterprise-E audio loop for the bridge? Rip it from a game?

Hmm looks like they lost all communication with deck 16. Communications, internal sensors, everything.
