PMIS means the software platform that are available within an organisation to conduct the project. Since in most cases, the project will be allotted a PMIS, which is internally available and the project team has to consider this in their plan, we can conclude that PMIS is an internal EEF.

Isn't PMIS part of the internal process of an organization ? Usually PMIS is maintained by PMO office...could you help me understand how PMIS is classified as EEF please?

Simple ans...because the PMBOK Guide says PMIS is EEF :) Here is the proper ans: 1. OPA are some sort of documents, PMIS is used to store documents but it is not a document. 2. EEF influences the project but project team or project organization (PMO, other projects, senior management) have not control over it. These system are present in the company as they are and they have to be used. 3. Refer to section 2.2 of the PMBOK Guide - All infrastructure and IT software are part of EEF. Also refer to section 4.3.2.2 of the PMBOK Guide - PMIS is a collection of IT system and tools. A PMO may maintain the documentation stores in PMIS but that does not mean PMIS becomes an OPA. Hope it helps.
