Well what did you expect? Sure, they stopped Skynet by destroying all traces of it…including the proof of why they needed to do that. They never once tried to explain to the government or even the UN why they needed to stop trying to create AI, but instead they decided to simply destroy the progress they were making. To the outside world, they were a bunch of terrorists who decided to bomb a technological company for “peace” or whatever reasons they’ve speculated. Of course history would repeat. There was no one to try to educate everyone on why they should stop. Hell, WE are continuously researching AI in the real world now, despite the fact that we all acknowledge the very possibility that a real Skynet could become a reality one day.

Credit where it's due, this film is a bit better written than the other Terminator movies post T2. Grace throws the rebar pieces at Rev-9, when she see's that isn't working, THEN she opts to destroy the tires. She might be an augmented soldier, but she's still human and capable of making mistakes and learning. Rev-9 on the other hand is a machine devoted to logic. When he lands on the car his first action is to destroy the wheels. As is logical. At least the characters act more like you'd expect.

This movie is the epitome of so many negative tropes, such as "jumping the shark" and "the worf effect". "Jumping the shark" is when a series is becoming less and less popular, and it tries crazy gimmicks in order to try to remain interesting and relevant (often forgetting its own roots and what made it so entertaining and good in the first place), but which only helps to accentuate its own irrelevancy. In this case the "worf effect" would in a way be kind of a "reverse worf effect". Normally the "worf effect" happens when one of the good guys who's supposedly really strong and tough is inadvertently made by the writers to look weak and powerless because the bad guys always incapacitate him first. (What the writers are usually trying to do is to show how dangerous the villain-of-the-week is by having him easily incapacitate the toughest hero without much effort, establishing the villain as really dangerous and a very serious opponent. However, when this is done again and again, what ends up happening as an inadvertent side effect is that the supposedly "tough guy" doesn't look so tough anymore, given that his ass is handed to him so often.) Here it's the villain who gets the inadvertent treatment of "he's supposed to be really tough, but ends up looking really weak". After all, an old woman easily fends him off with a couple of shots. Doesn't really speak of "extremely dangerous nigh unstoppable scary villain".
@adamushu4 жыл бұрын
I think you might not be getting the right idea, the end of this clip doesnt show how weak r9 is, but how badass sara connor is. We know how powerful r9 is, then sara connor shows up and deals with it like a badass.

@@willnicholson18 She is an old woman, who is experienced and manages to fend off an advanced terminator by herself dispite her age, why does her age matter anyway. Salvation was supposed to have two sequels also set in the future war to finish the franchise, with them eventually destroying Skynet for good at the end but not resetting the timeline, just living in the post nuclear world. But it was a box office failure so the sequels never got made. Genisys was also supposed to have a sequel with Matt Smith playing embodied Skynet as he already appeared in Genisys and being a sort of super terminator that they'd have had to defeat to end Skynet. Also a box office failure so the sequel was flushed down the toilet. And Dark Fate probably won't have a sequel since it is the second lowest grossing Terminator movie of all time, the lowest being T1 but it was much cheaper production and a different era for cinema.

Times are tough for Linda I guess. How else can you explain this decision of hers to be in such a garbage movie full of woke, political nonsense. I love how they kill John and the angle of "this person is going to be the savior", nevermind that in reality, even if that were the case, someone else would naturally fill that gap; it's how reality works. But instead of taking the franchise in a new direction like you think they would to justify the killing off of Connor, no, they do the same tired bull but this time it's a mexican girl who's character arc is she can't even drive a car at first but by the end of the movie you're supposed to believe she is the new Sarah Connor or something. Then insert a woman protector, you know, so they don't look unwoke and wonder why this hot dumpster fire trash bombed at the theater. To me it's no surprise at all.

Underrated action sequence. The only thing missing, and I expect this is due to budgetary constraints, is the sense of danger to, and because of, the surrounding traffic. I mean, there's traffic there and then there's none. When the hybrid soldier gets flung onto the road it would have been better to have traffic screeching by, just missing her. There's a sense that the action is detached from the surroundings and this takes some of the drama out of it. A shame because the bones of a top notch action sequence are right there.

What's underrated about it? Bad looking physics that are off, questionable cgi, little practical effects and generally monotonous with poor cinematography.

that's quite a big thing to miss for a movie about dangerous robots-killers. T1-T2 managed to be way scarier despite limited effects. because effects cannot replace good writing, they nearly improve it.
@BradPham Жыл бұрын
@@oldcat1790 I doubt it was actually missed. I expect that it was not budgeted for. Inspired writing lays a great foundation for a movie. T's 1 & 2 had the liberty of writing the "mythos" of the franchise. The first set the groundwork and the second turned it up to 11. The later movies seemed, in my opinion, to be caught within the franchise's rules. Limited by them - must have this much action, include a bit of quiet reflection, then more action, and so it goes. One of the best sequences, I felt, was MacKenzie Grace's character reflecting on the battle incident that left her a wreck. That was an intense sequence!

What budgetary constraints? It cost about $200 million to make plus another $100 million in marketing. Terminator 2 cost less than $100 for production and marketing. Even factoring in inflation it's still over $100 million cheaper. Top gun maverick cost $170 million and they filmed on real fighter jets. This movie just sucked. Bad story, bad script, terrible character ideas, lame sets (like this) bad CGI, bad practical effects + virtue signaling and pandering. Okay the rev-9 is so cool! And the level of autonomy between its social skills and own method of fighting outside of its robotic norm gives this terminator a level of individual identity that i think could of really been amazing to watch as the terminators become people separated from each other more and more. Also the concept is really really cool and the design is bad ass but terminator movies didn’t need to upgrade the terminator every movie the original t-800 with skin that decayed and rotted away on its face in the first movie was terrifying and badass on its own, then the t-1000 the advanced model that is everything the t-800 could of been just the originals were amazing but to me as the newer models are upgraded they aren’t bring in anything new that we couldn’t see before. Remember when the t-1000 walked through the metal bars in the hospital in t2? Yeah that’s what we wanna see, something new and mind blowing for example what if the rev-9 was so intelligent in the end it was able to resist its default programming and become a separate being nor human or skynet? it would be so cool to see how machines become so intelligent that they lose what makes them just machines Shame the worst movies have the coolest terminators

Well, I think inventing new terminators the way they did since T3 is just a way to hide the flaws of the stories they are trying to tell because there's basically nothing left to tell about those time travelling robots anyway. I feel like T2 was the best way to close that narrative arc and trying to revive it makes no sense. New robots, even if they look beyond cool are not bringing anything new. They are just cosmetic improvements to distract us from the fact that the movies have nothing to say anymore. I rewatched T1 and T2 last weekend, and hell, when you're watching T1, you see how outdated those special effects are, how clumsy the animation of the t-800 endoskeleton looks compared to today's standards, but the story is 10,000 times better than those we see in Genesys or Dark Fate, and that's the most important thing to me. The story you are telling is way more important than mind blowing CGIs and special effects.

Same here. I think most of these peeps are hypocrites. I mean look how many views these T Dark Fate have!

So it will be a T1850 when combined?

Many here hate it cuz women even though the franchise has had strong women since the second movie

@@gabrielgomez6898 nah, the T-X had a mimetic polyalloy that acted as a sheath to the endoskeleton. If it was separated from the endoskeleton, it couldn't function beyond that. The Rev-9 on the other hand, it's literally like a T-1000 and a T-850, working together. They can both act independently from the other, but still manage to function cohesively when grouped together.

I like how all the cars keep driving behind them, even after the truck rolls over and there's a person being dragged from the truck. I guess they have places to go.

What I like/hate about this franchise is the underlying moral: Fate can't be avoided. No matter what they do, Judgement Day (in one form or another) will occur. All they can hope to do is kick it further into the future. This, combined with the almost-stable time loop (or time spiral, if you will) keeps making slightly out of whack time lines...meaning that the franchise will NEVER run out of movies, so long as people are willing to put up with them :D

This is supposed to be after Terminator 2. Let that sink in for a bit
@gamongames4 жыл бұрын
whats that supposed to mean?
@volebien4 жыл бұрын
@@gamongames this movie was supposed to be Terminator 3 which means that Terminator 3, 4 and 5 means nothing here. It is quite strange, it is the first franchise to take such kind of route.
@gamongames4 жыл бұрын
no, it isnt? every single one of those after T2 is in a separate timeline 5 even has different timelines inside the same movie.
@gamongames4 жыл бұрын
of course not, everytime they did something the future changed. everytime doomsday is delayed or a character comes back to save someone its a new timeline. just look at the dates for skynet's activation, the origin date each time traveller comes from and skynet's destruction. if you try to match details, dates and memories from all movies, games and spinoffs on a single timeline they contradict each other.

this might be my favorite terminator movie, it explored the humanity of the robots and the implications of time travel more than the other movies, and it sucks that people hate this movie

It is complete garbage, a clear feminist message, it breaks a lot of logic, and it is nothing original, they only changed Jon Connor, a heterosexual white man, for a feminist Mexican woman who is probably also a lesbian.

Say all you want about this movie, but in my opinion this is the only sequel that is loyal to the fan base and the fact it takes place after the second movie makes it even better. Also Rev 9 is just more of a badass than T-1000 or 3000 or even X
