Let me tell y'all something -- John Amos is an icon of my childhood. His character,James Evans , was an amazing father - he was strong and hardworking- a protector and a provider. He might not have been materially wealthy but he had a rich character and he was dignified. He would get knocked down and get right back up. He would struggle but he was ALWAYS there for his family. He never abandoned them- he would stay in the fight with them and for them. He would be firm when he needed to, and be tender when it was necessary. He would love on his wife Florida and act like a teenager with her. These varied images of what a black man is and could be , still resonate today because they completely break the mold of stereotypes that black men are often bogged down and limited by. I love good times to this day- Thanks John Amos for giving us James Evans. Rest Well Sir...❤🙏🏽
