The thing I’m liking so far is that this show and what Loki did really well is showing that Marvel Disney Plus series don’t need to be packed full of action but should focus on having good conversations between characters and doing character studies. Action is cool but it should not be the only good thing about Marvel projects.

It worked with Loki because Loki is talkative and discerning. It was fun to see him in a different environment with him trying to cope with it. Secret Invasion is a spy show involving shapeshifting aliens. Sitting and talking would not be the best method for character study. Both Fury and Talos are not their best in the first episode. Fury going back to the guy he was pre-blip and Talos taking control of the situation would be a better way to depict character growth.

That's one of the many reasons why I love all the Marvel disney plus shows. It started with WandaVision, which has zero action for most of the show and instead focuses on Wanda's journey through grief. Other shows like Hawkeye, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel are beautiful character studies as well.

After one episode, all I care about in the future is more of Olivia Colman and Samuel L. Jackson in the same scene. I want more of that in this show, but I'll gladly take it in any show in the future. They are both absolutely brilliant actors and the way they play off each other sucks you into the story in a way that some of the writing in other parts of the first episode did not when you've seen enough shows to know when someone will be shot or betrayed etc. (I understand it's written for the vast age range that follow Marvel projects).
