In 97 Nimrod let a piece of himself fuse with a human and he would become Bastions father (And in a real way create a A-Mutant, or Artifical mutant) Bastion would gain a advanced Technomage ability that let him hear robots, and download there being. When Morph killed Master mold, he downloaded himself into Bastion, ie Nimdrods son.

I never knew Nimrod and the original cartoon had such a history with time travel. Xmen-97 is much easier to understand.
