At my last job I had a coworker lie about being pregnant when we were allowed to return to work from Covid shutdown, just so she could use it as an excuse to stay home, but still receive pay. When it was discovered that she was never pregnant, she was fired and she had to pay back some of the leave pay she conned.

It is possible they had family drama in the past that caused the OP to go low contact and then just out of family, the OP tried to open up again, but sometimes Drama and Selfishness comes hand and hand from the sounds of the family. Now I'm curious on what type of drama they had in the past.

The best way to get back at someone who steals makeup is to put things that look like makeup from where it is being stolen but instead causes problems. That way you know who it is who is stealing from you and make sure to expose them. This way they get the message and never steal again. Be petty

Story 1: What a moron. The boss could've very easily have just said something like, "Hey everyone, im going to be on a TV show, ill be away for a month or so" and all of this crap could've been avoided. Lying about having COVID like that was just a scumbag move and he totally deserved to get fired. I feel bad for the one co-worked who called him out on him possibly not having COVID during the boss's leave. That co-worker probably saw through the BS then, and he got absolutely chastized for it unnecessarily. Story 2: Good on that professor here. Some people dont like to speak in public for whatever reason, so malicious compliance here was well worth it. You want Mark to give a speech? Well, he sure did! Story 3: OP really needs to find concrete proof of the SIL stealing the make-up befre confronting, because i think if the OP does without it, the SIL will deny it and snap at the OP. It's pretty obvious what the SIL is doing, but unless you catch her red handed, this could cause some extra unwanted drama here. I would definitely keep the make-up under lock and key though, do what you can to keep it away from SIL. Story 4: OP and his wife arent the jerks here. Why would make them sleep on a kids bunk bed? Was there literally no other option? Or was everyone else being super inconsiderate? I don't blame the OP for getting a hotel afterwards. The rest of the family are just jerks and drama lovers. I can see why the OP would want to distance themselves from this family.

@@viviennemorgan7217 I did listen to it. My point was she hasn't physically seen her doing it. So if the OP wants to confront the SIL over this, the SIL is very likely going to deny that she is stealing the make-up, whether it was in her bag or not.

Hahaha .. I gave a speech like that. My very first speech, in fact. 9th grade Speech and Comp class. I was picked to go first. The next student wasn’t ready and begged me to stall. It was supposed to be a 2-4 min speech about what you did last summer. Well, my family had gone on a month long tour of the southwest US. And I WAS prepared. I got a C. The teacher was angry and told me she had said 2-4 minutes, not 20-40. I had used the whole class period.

1:56 i mean... he did have a pretty good point... someone doesn't have covid for 5 weeks... covid is like the flu: it lasts one, maybe two weeks... i got covid once (i couldn't escape it either)... it lasted a week... by the time i had the results of the covid test we did the day i felt ill, i was almost ready to get another one to see if it had gone away

Story 2: No, no, Mark is the YTA here. Every teacher has to do a speech and take turns once a year or so. For Mark to have not done a speech without good reason for that long, he would have had to lie or guilt trip his way out of it (We’ll never know since we only have OP’s perspective). I’m wondering if the other teachers had complained about this to the dean, saying it was rightfully unfair that he can refuse them when everyone else has to do one. So the dean, in fairness, had to act if there is no good reason for him to skip the speech. It’s not like 10 to 15mins of speaking to an audience would kill him. Instead of just doing the normal time of speech and getting it over and done with, Mark acted like a petulant toddler who didn’t get his way and made it everyone’s problem. He wasted valuable teaching time with his antics, knowing it would upset a lot of people who hadn’t done anything wrong to him. And now he’s got what he wanted by being an entitled jerk; instead of either talking to the dean why he has an issue with speeches if it’s a big problem OR doing the short speech and be done with it until it’s his turn again. But asking some people like Mark to act like an adult is too much for them.

16:05 What you do is get an old almost empty container (like one of my fav foundations is Nars Natural Radiant Foundation). You go buy a less expensive foundation that’s similar in consistency, like Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation. Pour until the Nars bottle is about 1/2 filled up with the W&W foundation. Then get self tanning drops. Pour the rest with self tanner. Then when her face turns orange & she freaks out, you say “Ya I mixed self tanner in my foundation for when I self tan, I figured it would work to self tan my face” or something stupid, like playin it off like it was just a dumb idea. Bc that’s what she gets for stealing foundation 😂

If they refused I would say “Okay, then we are going to the Hotel”. Story 2 - I remember when I was in high school, my biology teacher was forced to give a speech in front of the whole school during assembly time before start of first class, like other teachers who took turns. She was so nervous, her voice shook so badly we couldn't understand and the paper from where she read were clearly shivering, I could see even from where I stood at the far back. Poor thing but that was the only speech she gave.

Reminds me of another story I heard. Japanese salary man uses vacation to got to a fighting game tournament called Autumn Stunfest in Paris France. Weeks later he comes back and coworker asks about and he said he won Autumn Stunfest and this causes a bit of a fanfare as I think he was in a small town so the paper tried to get in contact with Autumn Stunfest only to find out it doesn’t exist and he didn’t even go to Paris. The pics he took on social media was either from his apartment/hotel room or a France themed cafe. Now because Japan is kinda anal he was brought up on disciplinary charges at work and I think criminal charges as well. Google “Autumn Stunfest” for more details
