As a wedding photographer for two decades, I actually came across a woman that delusional. She told me six months after the wedding that she was unhappy with the poses and group photo decisions (she had made) and she wanted a refund. I generously offered to refund her, after she paid me for the wear and tear on my equipment, and my car and gave me my precious time back. After a very long pause, she apologized and that was the last I heard from her.

Story time: I used to bartend at a “popular” chain restaurant and when I bartender I also manned the phones. My favorite customer complaint came from a woman calling in and asking for a manager. The manager was busy so I told her I was the manager, since I was a backup manager when we had call outs, I was not ready for this woman’s complaint and was so naive to think I could handle it professionally. So she starts off by saying she needs me to refund her entire order and pay for her car to be detailed. I asked her what happened and here’s her story. She and her family were there less than an hour ago and had dinner with us, they finished their meal and decided to get dessert, she ordered a chocolate cake covered in hot fudge and icecream. They paid and left and while on the way home this woman got an upset stomach and lost control of her bowels all over her car 🙃 . I apologized that it happened but still didn’t understand what she wanted me to do. She said that we were negligent in giving her that chocolate cake with icecream because she’s lactose intolerant and we needed to fix this. I lost my composure and began cackling into the phone and looking around trying to figure out who was pranking me, nope she was serious and angry I had the audacity to laugh. She hung up on me after saying she was calling corporate. I went back and told my manager through laughter and tears, he texted his DM to give him a warning. This woman did contact corporate and they sent her a 100 dollar gift card as an “apology”. I still chuckle about that shituation and it’s been 10 years.

I had to get my lawyer involved too. He has also successfully sued the city bus company afte they had the audacity to allow my wallet to be stolen when I had forgotten it on the bus seat, and I have sued all clothing stores I shopped at several years ago since I no longer fit those clothes anymore. The wedding dress story really made me cry. My sister asked me if she could use my wedding dress for her wedding. I didn’t understand why her fiancé could not afford one , he was a dentist ( a really lazy one). First I said no, she insisted. I told her that our bodies were very different and she would need to altered it and I did not want that. She told me that they have figured out what to do so that she could wear it without doing any alterations. I told her not to marry that guy (even the day of the wedding). He had the money but didn’t want to spend it on her dress. My husband was a poor graduate student when we got married but he put money together to buy me my dress. After a lot back and forth I said yes. And yes she altered my wedding dress and I never saw my wedding dress after the wedding, nobody knows what happened to it. @@tessaritter5339 and what about all those brides that jump from store to store trying on gowns without buying them, the designer is still getting paid and the taxman is getting his cut. I was on a budget and it worked for me so yes I was being very smart and looking at alternatives to gowns that are priced three or four times higher that what the designer charges. Who benefits from that? Not the designer but the store who yes have overheads and wages etc but what price are these smaller designers paying? They don’t get any of that extra money? The designer has a sale direct to customer and the customer was and is happy. I would encourage people to look online and find a dress they like and make contact with the designer and bypass the stores altogether. In my experience the gowns I looked at in one particular store were absolutely filthy and I didn’t put them on, the gowns are not clean in lots of cases have only sample sizes which are usually too small for the average bride and trying on a gown that’s too small doesn’t give you any idea of how it’s going to look on your day. I used to feel insecure that my wedding wasn't as extravagant as others I've been to. I made my daughter's wedding dress, sage green and white dupion silk, with tiny aventurine stones stitched on the neckline. I also made her braided silver and quartz point tiara. It all cost under £100, plus my labour. I may have told this story before and if so, apologies. I went no contact with my sister-in-law after the final straw of her berating me for being a "bad daughter" because I didn't include a special sister-in-law only flower laying ceremony at my mother's funeral. But well before that special little incident she asked to wear my mother's wedding dress. My mom's wedding dress was originally hand sewn and worn by my mom's grandmother and has been worn by every female descendent since except me because I'm too small for it. (It's Edwardian in design but my both my grandmother and great-grandmother were over six feet tall and my mom was 5'11".) It's an heirloom, it's delicate and while my sister-in-law is taller than me she's not that tall and there were other sizing issues. She and I had already gotten into it for things like me not paying rent to her when I was living in my mother's house and not rehoming my cats because she doesn't like cats and my brother at this point wasn't talking to me but also had expressed to my mom that he didn't want to marry her and was doing so only out of a sense of duty. So she asked my mother if she could wear the dress since - according to her - I would never get married or have kids. My mom was TOO nice so said she would ask me if it was okay. I of course said no and my mother seemed relieved. But of course because of that the sister-in-law threw a massive fit and she and my brother waited until my mom was out of town and eloped. My mom wasn't happy about them getting married but wanted to be supportive and let my brother make his own decisions so she was pretty heartbroken over it. When mom was diagnosed and given six weeks to live, I tried to move my own wedding up with my fiance at the time so my mom would be able to attend at least one of her children's weddings, but unfortunately she went too quickly for that. After my mother passed I had to get a lawyer to get that dress back and the sister-in-law tried to stake claim to a number of sentimental little bits and bobs JUST to hurt me. tl;dr it's not about how much the dress costs, it's about insinuating a relationship that doesn't exist. My sister-in-law was trying to get me out of the picture and be my mom's new and only daughter. The woman in this story is less evil and it's a bit about money, but she's also trying to fabricate a relationship between her and the sister that she couldn't be bothered to put in the effort for.

In addition to the little sentimental things she tried to get my mom's house free and clear of me as well at which point I got myself a lawyer. Part of the settlement was me getting the dress. (Apparently the judge scolded the opposing lawyer because there were some shenanigans involved on her side.) I think at this point I am going to have a conservator look at it and I might consider allowing an appropriate museum to acquisition it. I'm not fully ready to part ways with it just yet, but if I do it will be to a museum that can take care of it and display it from time to time.

@@mxm7647 I think it could have to do with the societal concept that women “lose their value” as they age? Like I know growing up I saw people looking differently at women who were over 30 and unmarried, as if there’s something wrong with them that no one had married or “claimed” her yet (in the sense that women were considered property for a long time). So the pressure for young women would be to get married young so they can be on that path and also because a lot of women still want to be married before having children (if they want them) and women do generally have a biological clock/timeline we need to follow in terms of fertility so that can feel stressful as well 🤷🏻♀️ Just some possible reasons

Dude, the wedding industry is NUTS. I don't think people even realize its possible to spend so little bc all the major wedding brands and websites will have you believe it's impossible to get married for an actually reasonable price. I was playing with on of the marriage apps as I plan to get married soonish and jfc, there was almost nothing under $1,000 that it suggested for me. It honestly had me discouraged to and ready to just elope bc even the most basic wedding packages were projecting well over 10k. I can splurge a bit, but man, the wedding industry is greedy af.

I wore two wedding dresses (one for the religious ceremony, one for the party). The first was a rental as it was a specific design for my husband's religion, and the second was $100, which I later resold for about half the price :) Why people choose to buy a $1000+ dress and then just keep it in their closet forever baffles me, but if it's within their means, then all the power to them :)

Friends of mine got married in matching white overalls, she wore a high necked lace blouse and her mothers headpiece & veil and he wore a tux shirt w bow tie & cuff links under his. It was actually adorable and that choice helped them from going into debt . Great choice

My husband and i wanted to get married straight away so we had a courthouse wedding. Parents and siblings came, and he wore a suit he already had and i bought a 15 dollar white boho dress from Ross. We saved thousands of dollars and we're just as happy ♡

I've been married twice, My 1st dress was a "conventional" wedding dress and I paid $300... My 2nd wedding I found a GORGEOUS lace white dress that I paid $3 for at a thrift store!!! I added teal lace to it to add a little extra, I spent less than $10 TOTAL!

It's pretty common that people read ebooks and then return them. There even was a tiktok trend regarding that. People, unless you absolutely hated the book, don't do it. Writers have stopped writing/publishing because they've lost a lot money because of that.

One of my bffs got a $4,000 dress from Davids Bridal for $90 because the was a half inch tear on the inner silk slip. Couldn't see it, was easily fixed, & she looked stunning. Like Charlotte said you dont have to spend a fortune on a dress to look beautiful.

5:21 my brother is a professional photographer and not only would he have this in his contract, but he also has a behavioral clause in his contract. if he is doing a photo shoot, and the people at the photo shoot are misbehaving and causing him to not feel comfortable being there. He is legally allowed to walk and they will be on their own to find a photographer. This clause came in handy when he was working a wedding, and the sister of the bride got a little bit drunk and started to get very flirtatious with him and keep in mind. My brother is married and is not the type the fact, he was really not interested so he went up to the bride and had to remind her and the groom about the behavior clause in his contract to which they both told him they would deal with it and got a hold of the drunken sister. It was a much more affordable option to get the sister contained versus in the middle of a wedding having to come up with a photographer because the one they had was forced to leave for his own safety

My sister felt she absolutely needed a ceremony (perfectly fine. I understand) she wore a nice all white suit and she is going to finally have her dream wedding this year since she finally is doing well enough that she can afford her dream wedding. I can’t wait to be there and see her in her dress and smiling and just so thrilled that she is finally going to have her “REAL WEDDING” (she says this, not me lol) instead of a suit inside of a courtroom. Her husband rocks! We are all so pumped and she is wanting us to toss some ideas around for it and there is NOT a requirement for you to bring a gift, and you absolutely will not be made to pay for a seat or food or whatever. If you want to bring a dish then you can of course! She said maybe some won’t like or be allergic to the food I pick so I won’t be offended at all if they want to bring something. She just wants us to all be there for her big day and simply celebrate. I want mine to have the same exact same thing. We live in the South and we are just southern bells who just want to include others and we find it crazy to make guests pay for anything. We want them to enjoy themselves just like my husband and I will.

I live for these vids! I like to watch them to see if was anything like these bridezilla during our wedding last October... Only rule I had was don't piggyback off our day! No promotions no babies no declarations of love 😂. Ps I need to edit this. Secondly at least people got their pictures! Our link stopped working a week later and have yet to get updated one! Number three, my dress from David's literally cost under $500 bucks and it was gorgeous and beautiful and perfect!!

If someone from my family said “it’s just a dress what’s the big deal?” about my wedding dress, I’d not let them see any future children of mine and when they complain I’d just say “they’re just kids, what’s the big deal? Go to the park to see kids if you want to see kids that bad”

My honest reaction to "it's just a dress" is cool, than you shouldn't mind that I said no since it's not a big deal 🤷

LOL. I love the pettiness. But yeah, it would be messed up to say that about any dress that didn’t belong to you but a wedding dress? Especially a wedding dress that costs thousands of dollars and would need to be altered and could potentially be ruined.
@jaybee2337 Жыл бұрын
@@fireflower44 yes, and if “it’s just a dress, it’s no big deal” then the bride can wear any old dress since, as she said, it’s no big deal.

Growing up most of the weddings I attended, were well planned small Intimate weddings. A couple were even potlucked, by the immediately family. They just wanted to be married, they did what they could afford. There is no shame in that. I was a ring bear for one of them, and the bride split cost of my dress with my mom and trailered my dress herself. I think I even wore it’s a costume one year. 😂

I actually got my wedding dress from a goodwill for like 50$ and honestly... That shit was stunning ❤ after a small cleaning fee from a local dry cleaners that baby was good as new and fulfilled all my wedding dress dreams. I actually found it by chance and bought it I wasn't even engaged lol it sat in the closet for a few years. Hence the need for it to be professionally cleaned 😂 STILL I wouldn't let some rando wear it. It's for my daughters should any of them want it. If not it will die in that closet 😂

When my ex and I got married her mother found a wedding dress at the local thrift shop. She knew how to sew so she altered the dress to fit and made changes to it's design which cost $75.00 total. My ex cherished that dress and had it sealed in case our future children could use it if they chose to.

To my knowledge, once the service has been rendered, and a period of 4 years has past, there is absolutely no legal standing for refund!!! Omg that poor lady is cray cray!!!

My dress was $70, in total my husband and I paid about $180 for our wedding. If you are in love and want to get married why does it have to cost an arm and a leg? We got married in the park where we met. It was such an emotional and beautiful moment, everyone cried.
