I am 32 and have a disability that is not visible to others. I have a permanent handicap tag for my car. I was leaving the grocery store and getting into my car and an older man walked up to me, put his hand on my car door (preventing me from shutting the door) and yelled at me for parking in a handicap spot. I told him I clearly had a valid tag to park there. He said "well you don't look handicapped..." So I told him "well you don't look like you are wearing underwear" 😂

I am 30 with an invisible disability (though I sometimes use mobility aids) and this is a constant fear of mine. People are SO rude and also the ignorance around invisible/dynamic disabilities adds and extra layer of stress in just navigating the world. I'm sorry you had to deal with such a jerk, and well done for reponding so well under pressure 😂

I am genuinely curious what kind of disability requires you to use handicap parking that cam't be seen? Because before I read this, I would have frowned upon someone who can clearly walk fine using one as well before I read your comment!

@@suomynonaanonymous I was born with a condition called Tarsal Coalition. I was born with it in both of my ankles. I have had over 7 surgeries to correct it on my left ankle and all have failed. So I had a triple fusion which made it to where I have no movement in my ankle. I don't use a walker or wheelchair but it is extremely painful to walk far distances so I use the parking when I know I'm going to be walking alot like grocery shopping. You can't tell from the outside that I have anything wrong but walking can be super painful ❤️

@@suomynonaanonymous I have a chronic illness called POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) in which my blood doesn't circulate through my body properly so if I stand or walk for honestly more than a minute or two, I run the risk of passing out, getting a migraine, getting nauseous, and all other loads of not fun stuff. I use a cane with a seat attached to it or other mobility aids (wheelchairs, walkers) sometimes so I can have somewhere to easily sit and don't have to deal with the indignity of sitting on the ground (which is also difficult for me to get up) but technically my legs function properly. But my heart and nervous system (which no one can see) do not. There are a lot of chronic illnesses/disabilities like that! Many folks with Long COVID also fit into this category! It's difficult, but hopefully with the internet and opportunities like this, more people can learn about the various challenges people face that aren't immediately apparent (and maybe more money can go into research to help find cures to these illnesses 🤞)

Many smaller bathrooms have the changing table in the accessible stall. It’s accessible. It’s not off limits. If there is a line, use it. As a mother of a disabled preteen, we’ve had to use them for years. We always get looks. Usually people that should myob and not people effected.

My parents used to give away my room as a child... Now as a woman in my 30s with a 14 year old, I ask my child's permission. Ever since they've had their own room, I've always asked permission. Even if its my parents.... And i make it clear my kid is allowed to say no without explanation. Boundaries are important.

for the wedding slip one, i think the kid rule is TOTALLY acceptable. she didn’t ask for there to be no kids and she didn’t say that kids would be kicked out if they were rowdy. all she said was that she would like for them to be taken outside for a breather. i work in theater and it is so rude and disruptive when a parent refuses to take their screaming kid outside for a minute to calm them down. it’s disrupting the show for the rest of the audience and throwing off the actors & crew. same goes for a wedding.

For the AITA about the brother moving in with his sister and wanting a room to himself... Idk how it works outside of the USA, but we get to deduct office space from home so long as it's not multi-purpose, like someone cannot be living in that room for it to also be deductible. If she consolidates her offices, she might not be able to claim deductions as planned. He seems super entitled. Be grateful for the couch and work on getting your own place.

For the first one, the mother is not the asshole, but the place they were at definitely was. Bathrooms should be washed on a regular basis, this includes the baby change table. And I doubt that the literal crap on that change table was just from the last 15 minutes. But also, the parent/person who didn't try to clean up after their child exploded on the thing is an asshole too. Also, most places are assholes for only having one accessible stall. They cheap out, make the other stalls ridiculously tiny, don't think about the actual utilization of what they have built and are designed so poorly to be ineffective.

As a full time wheelchair user, I’m conflicted about the first one. I don’t think op is the asshole though, because she didn’t really have another choice. The old lady however… she sounds like someone who would just use the accessible bathroom stall just because it’s bigger. I would never be that rude about someone else using that stall, even though it’s the only one I can use. However, I would like to ask that unless it’s an emergency that you don’t use the accessible stall because it takes disabled people longer to get on the tollet.

funny wedding story: when my aunt got married, she mostly went for the "no kids" rule with exception of her nieces and nephew and a few out of town guests who wouldn't have been able to attend if they couldn't bring their children (8 kids total). Three of us (me, my brother, and 1 cousin were in the wedding party. However, my great aunt that was at the wedding noticed there was children present at the wedding and stormed out FURIOUS and walked home because her grandchildren had not been invited. She had 9 grandchildren that were all from the area so were able to get babysitters for the night so no big deal to those parents, but the grandmother was so mad that she didn't even tell anyone she was leaving (including her own husband) and he stayed and partied the rest of the night after realizing she walked home lol

Use a wipe to clean the changing table and put your mat on it, as a disabled person you have just said hold your pee. Well I can't hold my pee as a wheelchair user and don't want to use a dependable. I have had to wait loads to use a accessible toilet and many times have seen young people coming out of the toilet when the other toilets don't have anyone waiting. It's quite annoying.

Pleasssssse do not use the accessible if you don't have to!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a mom with multiple medical issues some being mobility and incontinence!!!!!! I can not count the number of times i have had to help her get cleaned up because someone with no mobility issues or children were using that stall and she could not wait. Alot of times when we go to Wal-Mart there is a employee that comes out for the family🚼 / ♿ accessable bathroom in the back of the store, we have even gotten " there's a bathroom right over there" when they come out because we knocked a couple of time. You may not think its a big deal but to the people who can ONLY use that stall it is a big deal. Also by using that stall a person with a walker or wheelchair who uses a regular stall has to leave the wheelchair or walker outside in the way of everone else. So unless you can not hold it and you are about to pee your pants please, please, please do NOT use that stall if you do not have mobility issuse or a young child, baby &/or adult who needs your assistance .

As for the wedding I relate to that. My older sisters last year I had to work around my family because my mum and sisters basically abused me verbally over phone cause it was easier for them if I got organised at my mums instead of my home however it is not okay for anyone who has to go through that. So unfortunately I did it to avoid more fam drama. The morning turned out well and my hubby got organised with his party at our home. Now I no longer have a relationship with my older sisters because my whole adult life they never pleased with my achievements and all over me on wedding night. Haha I'll tell ya life is so much better without them. As for the invites i was the same with the kid situation but I put it in a polite way and we had kids there but they took kids around outside area so that it went smoothly during vows.

With the situation with the favor with the sister, the sister could have felt insecure or like a burden already and could have read the silence and comment about the things on their mind as confirmation of her feelings and felt rejected. This might be why she got upset. Their sibling doing the favor did nothing wrong. Their feelings are valid. You don’t always have to be on. It takes work to come to a place where you don’t feel the need for people helping you to be overly happy about it so you don’t feel like a burden. I would remind the sister to remember that if their sibling really didn’t want to be there or was being inconvenienced to communicate those feelings to you. If they don’t, there’s nothing you can do.

I’m sorry Rachel, but no on the first story. Myself and others have bladder and kidney issues and are literally told by our doctors not to hold in our urine, so no, the lady couldn’t just simply hold it and wait or shouldn’t of had to. There’s no reason the mother couldn’t have set the table up right where the baby table that is already Mounted was so that they didn’t have to take up a stall. I will agree and say, though that the accessible stall is for visible and invisible disabilities.

This is poor design of bathrooms though (or cheeping out as most do), and the establishments lack of keeping bathrooms clean. Its an unfortunate situation but not one the parent caused. Get mad at the right people. Not others poorly effected by the situation. There should be more than one accessible bathroom, but companies aren't legally required to offer more than one, so they don't. I bet that dirty change table hadn't been washed in days and that is a health code violation. Either staff being lazy, underpayed, or not enough staff hired/on shift. It all boils down to greedy companies. Not the mother who just wanted a clean space to change her child.

I don't always comment on your stuff, but I watch your channel a lot from my TV! However, while you and Joy were talking about the mother forcing her daughter out of her room so her cousins could stay triggered a memory of mine. My eldest sister was pregnant and was living in the family house back in 2014 with her husband. My brother and his boyfriend at the time and myself also lived there. My eldest sister had her best friend come and live with us for a few months until she found her own place, and my sister expected me to give up my room so her best friend could stay. I was forced out of my room and I slept on leather couches in the lounge for a whole month. I got really bad back pain from that. My sister was also very abusive and narcissistic and we haven't even talked in 3 years now, and I had no privacy and my sister didn't give a fuck. Eventually I told her that I'm moving back into my room because I don't deserve to sleep on the couch just because her bestie moved back. So her bestie ended up sleeping in the tiniest room in the house, but I got my room back. Thank fuck. Fuck entitled family members. Ask first, it goes a long way.

Thank you for pointing out the concept with adult tasks and adult respect! I think it's so common for parents to pull the "my house, my rules" shit when kids quite literally have no choice in the matter. Especially in this scenario when the child is paying bills. That notion absolutely does not apply. It's her house too, and doesn't deserve to be put out when someone else decides to have company over.

@@clearlyseverely3155 I mean even if the child wasn't paying the rent, they're still legally obligated to be there. Even if the child wasn't helping with the bills she still wasn't the asshole imo. That is her space. Being voluntold by a parent to give up her private space isn't okay. Parents who act like their kids should be grateful for simply existing because of them, shouldn't be parents. When you have a child you signed up for clothing, sheltering, feeding, educating, and loving that child until they are capable of doing it themselves. That is the deal. Children, especially teenagers need access to privacy, just like any other human. To forcibly take that away, even temporarily, is gross. If the parent wanted the guests to have proper beds, give up their own first.

I'm confused why she was able to put the diaper changing bag on the floor but not the changing table... both would be gross but one won't put disabled people in negative situations

It all depends on perspective. My nephew is in a wheelchair and has a hard time holding his urine (he waits to long)if someones in the only large stall then he will have accidents. Maybe not the ass hole but there are other solutions.

As a disabled person, I get really get annoyed when able bodied people use our toilet/bathroom. If a toilet area is dirty, then report it to a staff member to sort it. We can’t use a normal stall. As a British person, your toilet stalls with the massive gap under the door would be illegal. I won’t travel to America because of your toilets/bathrooms.

My problem with this thinking is a lot of people APPEAR able bodied & won't use the stall they actually need because they don't want people to be annoyed at them :(

I think if there is not anyone already waiting to use the stall then its fine, if they take an hour of course be annoyed but u dont get a free bathroom pass just for being handicapped, they aren't incapable of holding their bladder for 2 minutes (unless they are) and its already a low chance a disabled person would be actively waiting

@@DeathDragon5861 Part of it is that it takes time for someone in a wheelchair to get on the toilet. Far longer than for abled persons to just pants down and sit. So they already have to 'hold it' for longer than the average person. Some also medically cannot hold it for health reasons. However, this means that there should be more than one accessible bathroom. Companies cheep out because they aren't required to have more than one legally. The fact that we, as a species, give such little care to the human requirement to expel waste is ridiculous. We need to demand better, for everyones sake.

Qatar a disabled person, yes she was tje asshole. No, I don't judge her for it, but this is the only stall disabled people can use and you take that away from them. This is one of those things where, its not really the mother's fault. Many places put baby changing in disabled toilets. They shouldnt do that. It means two people with competing needs both will need to use the space. It should be separate.

Then if a disabled person comes in they have to wait for the only stall they are able to use comfortably while there's a whole row of open stalls that you could have used. The only time I use it is when I really gotta go and all the other stalls are full, and even then I get nervous

1. The accessible bathroom...not an asshole. Im overweight and using the regular stalls makes it difficult to properly clean myself because of how small they are. Technically, not disabled, but I need it. For someone to use just because, yes annoying, but for those that NEED it for whatever reason, not an asshole. The older lady that approached her is the asshole. Calm down, Karen. 2. I get why youd rather be asked first, but its not like she made you sleep outside. Just be accomodating. Its only one night, if it were multiple nights, Id get it. Not an asshole, but not really a big deal in my eyes. 3. The bride to be is the asshole. How are you not going to ask permission to take over someones house?! 4. Its supposed to be temporary, so why should she uproot her surroundings to make a bedroom? AND it doesnt sound like hes going to pay for things?! Absolutely not! 5. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. The woman is responsible for homing their dog. 6. I agree with Joys opinion. 7. All the sister had to do was ask for help. People arent mind readers and assume you can handle things unless otherwise said. Im the quiet one in situations and people take quietness for being in a bad mood. 8. Keyword, she "requested" they wear certain colors. Then, you cant EXPECT a child to be on perfect behavior. At the end of the day, its your wedding and you want things to go without a hitch, if people cant accept that, they don't need to be there. 9. Vacations are meant to be relaxing. Sharing a room is NOT relaxing.

I consider having a child a disability. So the mother was right to use the handicapped stall.
