We stayed at an air bnb with 1 bathroom that didnt have a lock. There was 5 of us and we just kinda all agreed without saying anything that if the door was shut somebody was in there. It isnt hard when you have common sense and respect.

I saw a person recently talkin about naming. She said remember you are naming a person that will be an adult one day not just a baby. Some names may seem cute at the time but eventually that baby will grow up and have to get a job, can you imagine your child walking in to a interview saying "hi my name is Airwracka or Flight inspector"

I loved this episode! Jewish people usually do not want to be cremated because of the Holocaust where their ancestors were burned alive. My mom's side of the family is Jewish and we didn't have the money to do anything when she passed 6 years ago so we had to ask for donations and we only got enough to cremate her. Because it was our only option and because one of her good friends told me that more Jewish people are choosing to be cremated because of the cost we felt it was ok to do it. The only Jewish cemetery in our town, it cost $10,000 to bury someone there and that was just the basic cost. It didn't include the casket, the Rabbi, flowers, etc. And the gates were only opened for a funeral service so we'd never be able to visit her grave. It only cost around $2,000 to cremate her including the urn we chose (which was just a very simple wooden box).

It’s also just not allowed in the torah. The holocaust might have something to do with it but by jewish law burial is correct.

@@teshuvatolchin5938 Yeah I was so unsure about us cremating her at first, but it was really our only option. Even if we went with a non-Jewish cemetery, it would have been at least 3 times the amount we had. I really wish we had been able to take her back to Michigan and bury her in the same Jewish cemetery as her parents and both sets of her grandparents were in, but we're in California so that definitely wasn't an option.

Thumbtack a notice saying Bathroom Occupied. Stay dressed with the door unlocked. Run water if she feels like it to sound more realistic. Get comfortable and wait to see what happens. If the Mother in Law ignores the notice and opens the door then she will know that every time she came in it was deliberate.

I would’ve gotten my husband in the shower with me in a compromised position. She wouldn’t walk in again or my husband would finally get why I need privacy in the bathroom and actually speak with her.

So as a person I love learning different things to cook. I was a CNA and did home health and one of the things I did was meal prep/planning. I loved being in the kitchen with my own grandma and loved being in the kitchen with these adopted grandma's. But you know what that's me. Put me in a overcrowded club where I'm uncomfortable no.

Also I had a friend that named their daughter Alex hunter I was like is Alex short for anything...no it's not. I told her while I don't think the nake will do well in the real world if she's a girlie girl and she may get bullied I will always love her and support her

I like Rachel's thought that he should go in the kitchen. If he cares about his girlfriend, he wants to break the sexist tradition, he wants to stand up for her, and he doesn't want all the judgement to go to her then he should cook in the kitchen with them and make a statement about how he thinks the tradition is sexist. Then they can go and participate and she doesn't get all the hate.

If that is their family tradition I would just look at it as an opportunity to get to know and bond with the family. And I would hope that he would then participate in my family tradition even if it made him a little uncomfortable.

I have severe adhd but have ZERO ability to visualize anything at all in my head. It’s wild. I explain it like a computer with the monitor turned off. Like it’s fully functional but like differently. I can’t imagine my life with visuals in my head. My adhd is so severe I think I would be in adhd paralysis 24/7. Who knows tho. I don’t know anything different. I do have internal dialog tho but absolutely NOTHING visual is going on XD

In the first one, I actually don’t think either of them are the ahole. I think from his perspective he’s trying to bring her into the family and set her up for being welcomed as much as possible. He knows his family wouldn’t like her if, in their minds, she doesn’t try to bond with them in their tradition (however sexiest it might be). Unless they plan on going no contact which seems like an overreaction, these are people they’d both interact with for the rest of their lives. Smoothing the relationship with the family from the jump is protective her feelings in the long run. She’s not wrong for not wanting to do it, and he’s not wrong for asking her to seriously consider it regardless. Temporary discomfort for long term comfort is a stance I’d probably take

The one about the cooking in the kitchen and gender roles … i think the girlfriend should want to get to know the family and participate in their traditions whether she agrees with the gender roles of it or not … kinda like if your boyfriend has a certain hobby, you should do it with him and vise versa just because you care about him. idk you’re not gonna change the minds of people who have thought a certain thought all their lives. i think that’s how i would view it … more of me just being nice and trying to bond with his family rather than being mad that cooking is stereotypically a woman’s “job” and refusing to participate
