@Scarlett.Granger3 жыл бұрын
I know it as common practice amongst editors to charge per page instead per hour, but you however are so right, it already is like nothing! Most basic editing would be 0.80ct per page at minimum. That's about 450$. Still these people complain it's so expensive. Eww.
@adelucas48243 жыл бұрын
I have a friend who has written hundreds of novels. All of which are dreadful. He thinks editing and rewrites are for amateurs. I've tried explaining that all the writers he loves do several drafts, rewrites and self edits before putting it away for several months then coming back to it with a fresh eye. Then rewriting it again. Which is why most published authors rarely produce more than 1 book a year or two years. He writes a book a week. It's so bad he forgets where he was, conversations loop, plots repeat after a hundred or so pages and he loses his thread and goes off in all directions with no resolution. Yet the publishers are wrong for refusing to buy them. Readers are wrong when they buy them on Amazon self publish then demand a refund. He is right and everyone else is wrong and can't see the genius of his writing. Delusion of talent is very common and many people think they are better than artists who have honed their craft for years.

One of the other relatives liked it so much that they asked me if I would film an event for them. I am not a professional photographer. I am a web developer who has had classes in photography and videography, my response was "how much you payin?" he looked at me all deadpan and that immediately ended the conversation. As he walked away I said aloud "if you are good at something don't do it for free". Even my own siblings pay me in kind for fixing their computer problems. Whether it be, lunch, dinner, movie tickets, or cold hard cash. One time, my sister paid for my Security Suite subscription even. Warning, might be too long to read. I dealt with an entitled person a few weeks ago myself. I work for a major e-commence company in one of their distribution centers. In my department, we are the smallest of the Inbound or Outbound teams. There are maybe 25 people at the most. Anyways, my friend in my department decided to throw an appreciation luncheon for our department management team. On the day of the luncheon, I was helping out a different department. I asked my friend and another department member if they mind coming up to my work area later on to get my car key so they could get what I had brought and be able to start the luncheon on time; to which they had agreed to. 20 minutes before our first break, they both came up for my key. I showed the quickly the controls, told them where my car, and the stuff was, and ask when they were done to lock up my car. After break and our department luncheon. A lady who is from a different department came up to me because she had eavesdrop on my conservation from earlier. I told her that some of us from my department had brought in snacks for my home department and management to show our appreciation to them. After that, she had the audacity to ask why her department did not get any and ask if they were chopped lives to my response that they were. Again, keep in mind that my department is small while hers is much larger than mine. This lady had also been getting on my nervous all day as well. If something broke or happened at her work area that she did not understand; she would ask me. Meanwhile, I had my own work to do as well. I think she realized that I was annoyed with her that she left me alone the rest of the day. At least the luncheon was a hit!! 🤷🏻♀️ But people are gonna people.

It makes me sick that everyone expects something for free these days. In many cases the people they're asking for services have paid money and spent time out of their life being educated and trained on a specialty Life photography or painting, and then the customer wants to come in and get $200 worth of work for nothing. How do these people live with themselves?

I've been working on my books going on 21 years, I have 38 altogether. About to publish my first one hopefully by the end of this year. And the reason its taken so long is I work full-time jobs so I won't become a starving artist, also they aren't as perfect as they are now, I'm glad I waited. My editor will cost me $2,500 just to make sure it's up to snuff. Right now I'm back into drawing and am working my way on doing commissions to be able to afford his prices as well as equipment to progress my work further and faster. People like the first one makes my blood boil.

Look, the city (aka YOU) is paying my rent, but I’ve got a whole ass list of demands. Bottom line though, as long as my huge dogs can trot while they have the trots…we should be solid. But also, I smoke inside. Also, also, I find most things - especially more than one person - annoying. CAN’T WAIT TO BE ROOMIESSSS!!! XOXO 💋
