I saw him at the end of May, right before he blew up. Stood there stupidly for like 15 mins while he kept responding to ppl on stream on what songs he should mash up. Honestly, his busking is more waiting around and chatting than actual singing. But crowd just grew exponentially because everyone so curious on what is going on. Popularity surge IMO a lot due to: 1) During the easing of restrictions where everyone wants to go out but end up remembering they're broke and need free entertainment. 2) queue culture, see people queue and watch I also wanna do it cause FOMO 3)novel thing for majority of younger gen who consume mostly english media.
