Thank you for pointing out how harmful it is for girls on tiktok to try and "call out" people for looking at them. It really does diminish the real problem. I've been followed, harassed and at one point had to get the cops involved to handle a guy I rejected at the gym. Stop filming yourself for clout in hopes of catching someone glancing in your direction.

One time my sister went into one of the more private aerobics rooms to do her stretches and light bodyweight exercises, and when she changed her view and could see the door. A dude was just standing there at the door (it was glass) watching her, and before she could even say anything he ran away lol It happens, and it really sucks, but it didn’t happen to the person in the video. If someone is really staring you down like watching your butt on the stair machine or every time you do anything they’re looking at you, you can definitely call them out tho, embarrass them for being gross

The most self-centered people in a gym are the ones who think they’re the main character in anybody’s else day. A trainer who works the floor at a gym as a professional responsibility to look around to make sure people aren’t doing dangerous stuff that may get the gym in trouble.
@FitLabb2 жыл бұрын
Regarding the genetics talk, it doesn’t matter that much unless you’re planning to compete in a bodybuilding competition or if you’re an elite athlete. The best way to think of genetics is that in terms of your physique, it determines where your muscle origins and insertions are located, which can play a decent role in the overall appearance of your muscles as you build yourself up over time, & it can have some degree of positive or negative impact on strength due to where those attachments are. “Genetics” are used far too often by too many people (fitness influencers & the general public) either to convince people to buy some product or supplements they’re selling geared towards “your body-type”, etc. (which is generally always complete BS), or it’s used as an excuse by the person in the gym to help rationalize why they aren’t making good enough progress towards their goals (while they’re just not doing one or more things properly), or as some false justification as to why they feel they should start using PEDs. In the end, we all have the same ballpark ability to build muscular size, strength, endurance, or lose weight, with some degree of natural variation from one person to another. By far the biggest determinants of whether you’ll achieve great or poor results comes down to if you’re putting in enough effort in the gym consistently, training smart enough by keeping an open mind & continue learning something new every day, eating properly to fuel reaching your goals, & resting/sleeping enough to properly recover between workouts. Genetics simply defines the absolute potential or limits of what you can achieve if you do all of the above optimally for a long enough period of time, which hardly anyone will ever actually achieve.

I'm old enough to remember when cameras weren't digital and good film was expensive. Back then we had different rules, cameras had the right of way and we were more mindful not to walk into someone's shot. It still happened but we would apologize and move on. Now that cameras are digital and we all have them in our phones it's harder to tell when someone is filming or taking pictures and people have the right of way. I still wait or apologize out of kindness and habit but I recognize that it's not a big deal anymore.

I agree. Genes do help in body shape and certain areas being able to look lean/muscular. I am very lucky in that I’ve always had muscular legs. Even when I was obese, my legs looked pretty nice. Now after losing 50lbs and lifting/running almost every day, my legs are SO freaking defined. However I’ve had friends in the past who have naturally skinny legs. And even after exercise, they still have skinny legs. Their muscles are literally skinnier no matter what. I have HUGE thigh muscles, they are naturally large so when I do a little bit of work they look diesel. However I can’t get my arms to gain muscle. I know eventually it’ll probably get better but I’m never going to have ripped arms.

It’s rude to stare. People can stare and get the wrong impression but can be verbally called out for that too. Men aren’t going to be uncomfortable with women looking at them the other way around is more likely and there’s a lot more to it than men and women like you like to gaslight.

@@Va13chka I agree it’s not ok to stare too long. I should have stated that. But I meant that it will naturally draw my attention at first, but of course I would look away and not keep on staring. It’s not a crime to stare at people, if you don’t want anyone looking at you stay at home. But if someone is being creepy and really making you uncomfortable then yea call them out. @Va13chka2 жыл бұрын
@@Diana-wk9qv That guy gave out creepy vibes for her probably I didn’t really see it other than common courtesy not to stare🤷♀️. She can call him out if she wants too but she was extra. We all look away after an awkward mutual eye glance with the opposite sex and we automatically don’t look again for some time to not make it obvious. We been doing this shit since childhood a grown ass man has no excuse and not get that. He has his own business at the gym to attend instead of starring at her. People have main character syndrome and so because they are the main character in their life they always think that other people are noticing them or looking at them but in truth, since everybody is a main character in their life everyone’s mostly focused on themselves and not others. That being said, as bad as her behavior was in this, I can kind of see how this might’ve been an overreaction to experiencing some of the things that women tend to experience in spaces like gyms. A lot of women have to deal with unwanted interactions and attention from men in exercise spaces and I can see how the irritation from those interactions could bubble over and result in a huge overreaction like this. I’m not defending her behavior because it was ridiculous and she should have apologized after over reacting. I think overreacting can sometimes be a valid response to previous experiences but it is never an excuse for bad behavior and should always result in an apology

I have one small dumbbell that goes up to 9,7KG but that only goes so far. I have crippling social anxiety as is and knowing that THIS is what other people potentially think or even worse do (filming stuff) just makes it impossible to muster up the courage. I'm still a really big woman even after dropping close to 20KG. (around 44lbs i think? used a converter so.. idk) and to be quite frank I struggle a lot with the way my body changed. I want to do certain things and thats why i keep working out but the visual part? Yeah.. naah...not confident at all. Guess I'll just stick to my one dumbbell and my resistance bands and stay the hell away from people like that. It's just so sad because a lot of gymn people seem to be so damn nice and helpful but all it will take is one shitty encounter and it'd crush years of personal work on my already shaky confidence. One of the things that has made me fear lifting is those negative attitudes. I'm a TaeKwon-Do boy. I have legs that most gym bros dream of. But I was required to stay around a certain weight to compete in my category. Adding muscles to my upper body wasn't worth the weight gain. But now I'm out of TaeKwon-Do and into climbing, I really need to work on my upper body and it's beyond pathetic how weak I am compared to even an everyday dude who has never set foot in a gym. I'm in my 30s and never, ever successfully done a pull up. Yes - EVER! I just never really did anything substantial with my upper body my whole life. Add to that the fact I'm transgender and so people staring at me makes me worry they've simply clocked I'm transgender and might wanna start something, especially if they're jacked and I'm projecting nothing but weakness. So all that happens is that I feel very self conscious about my upper body, but too scared of toxic gym culture to address it. It's kinda sad to know that a lot of us have to do a lot mentally to push ourselves to do what I need to do just because a minority of assholes make us fear being that struggling beginner in the background of their ego video.

So I was just driving home and something caught my eye. I look over and there is a woman who is full on naked right by the side of the road. She's messing around with a pair of leggings and as I drove by appeared to be putting them on. But she was 100% nude right out in the sunshine in full view of late afternoon traffic. You better believe my head went on a swivel. I didn't even mean to--it just was so surprising, my eyes locked on and wouldn't let go. It happens when people are doing something we don't expect.
