So sad to see old graveyards neglected. Most kin are gone or too old to tend them. I would love to travel back in time when the church was useable and the church filled.

These cemeteries are like a magic kingdom, everything is so beautiful, kind of scary, but the headstones and mausoleums are just amazing and beautiful to see. The Beehive mausoleum is just fantastic, I’ve never seen anything like that before. That’s so interesting that the nurse was buried with them, she lived longer than either of them. Thank you so much for this very. Interesting video, loved it ❤

Thanks for the hard yards you do through lank growth and brambles, often wet and clammy with hidden footfalls and decaying ironmongery to bark your shins. I respect the idea of reincarnation but I thought it supposed the eternal cycle of an immortal soul. So would a sole come back as a bee with its life expectancy of 2 months? "Hey Mildred! Don't swat that fly. It might be Aunt Agatha!"

There’s a church near me in Pennsylvania built during the civil war (mid 1800’s) with a spire like that. It has a huge lovely graveyard. And across the street is a brick walled graveyard full of revolutionary war veterans. It’s really neat!
@angietunstall25557 ай бұрын
Very interesting, GV. D8id you discover WHY the church was abandoned, and why there are no dwelkings in the immediate area. When i first saw the position of tge church, i thought it had been originally situated in a Plague Village, but the 1700+ build date would not bear that out. So, I'm stumped as to why the church and its cemetery are situated on their own, so far from houses. You be careful plodding about on wet grass and the like, GV, and the autumn leaves make grave hunting an racen trickier. Good grips on your shoe soles, and a firm grip on your arm by Serenity Sue, when the weather is too appalling to sally forth! 😅

as time goes on ; they will be digging around these sights like ancient egypt; we wont be here; its very strange; me being morbidly curious since childhood about death tombs etc; and now at 65 the very visceral sensation that that is to be my new home soon for the rest of time and how many generations we walk on that are dust; we are here for a brief instant ( im hope theres something nice after ) ; beckett says in ' waiting for godot " the light gleams for an instant and then its night once more "

Hey GV. I came across this little beauty when researching beehive structures around the UK a while back. The mausoleum was restored by a group called Follies Trust. The follies being "joyful little buildings that aim to please". They have a book out over there. I loved the church spire and overgrown building. Absolutely amazing history of the Cooke & Reynell families, I was mesmerized while perched on the edge of my armchair taking in every word, you certainly know how to tell a yarn, such a beautiful graveyard even in it's dilapidated state, I can almost imagine how it would look & feel in the bleak of mid-winter or a misty autumn early morning, to be sure a wonderful place to rest in eternal peace. The beehive mausoleum is most certainly unusual alongside the 17th century design of the John de Baptiste church, riveting viewing and Thanks again for this fantastic explore, on to the next adventure👍👍👍
