This place has quite the history as a national historic site. There is also a very good Wikipedia page. It seems to survive the dissolution of the monasteries of few times. But it does denote that it never officially had an abbot. The good condition of the stonework for the windows is a hint that it was reconstructed a few times. I also noted there was still metal work for window framing in a couple of the gaps. Nice to see that they're keeping the ruins in good shape. Definitely a lot safer than a few of the ones you've been to. Very good content and an enjoyable tour.

Really a beautiful location and Friary. It's sad how sometimes entropy effects things fast then at other times slowly. Nothing escapes it. Even underground gets effected by it. So glad you shared this place and as always be safe and most of all stay healthy! Love and hugs from Chicago IL USA.

Omg, there was a Flaherty last name ! My great grandmother ( Nee Margaret Hanlon born in 1888 in Ireland) married a Patrick Flaherty. I wonder if we're related on my mothers side. Tysm for showing this beautiful place ! As always, a great job GV and Sue.

What a beautiful building. Some fascinating history there. Really detailed stonework that has lasted well in all winds and weather over the years. I'm guessing that was a carving of a newt or salamander or something similar on one stone. It seems that the river and it's wildlife was very important and hugely respected by people in that area. Wonderful video. Thank you.

I chose cremation for myself years ago after watching some true crime shows and seeing exhumations, and they explain what happens with some Graves. Flooding and seeing coffins actually rise up out of the ground after an area has flooded. Plus cannot see spending so much money on a coffin and grave site to just be buried and rot in a box. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. So much cheaper to be cremated and I have no family anyways that would come to my grave.

It's bleak to think that the bones of the deceased are left to the four seasons .I want to be cremated so my children don't have a grave to tend.A really nice graveyard GV .Can any family have a vault or just those with money. I did like the headstone with the ship on it.Great achievement getting 50k ,well done and well deserved. 😊 xxx

It was hard to tell for sure because of the camera movement but in the center, on the floor closer to the door, I thought I could see a pelvis and spinal column.

I loved this video! I always like exploring ruins. They are beautiful and I like to try and picture what the rooms looked like when it was whole. I love the carvings on the vaults, Could that reptile be a turtle or tortuous? It was very unusual. I wonder what it symbolized to the family. And the first carving looked like a cat to me, but a fox seems more likely. Thank you, GV, for sharing with us.

The "reptile" above the 2 Lions is actually a River Otter. They have rounded faces and thick tails. I'm surprised no one knew this or mentioned in the comments. Guess they aren't animal knowledgeable.
