ENTP, what makes you YOU? What makes ENTPs tick? What are the building blocks of the ENTP personality type? In this video I'll explain the ENTP personality type inside and out - from their cognitive functions Extraverted Intuition, Introverted Thinking, Extraverted Feeling, and Introverted Sensing to their strengths, weaknesses, and unique gift to the world.
ENTP Cognitive Functions:
1. Extraverted Intuition (Ne)
2. Introverted Thinking (Ti)
3. Extraverted Feeling (Fe)
4. Introverted Sensing (Si)
5. Introverted Intuition (Ni)
6. Extraverted Thinking (Te)
7. Introverted Feeling (Fi)
8. Extraverted Sensing (Se)

FAQ:
Have you heard of the 8-function model?
Yes, I was introduced to the 8-function model in approx. 2015/16, and I have been working on Ti in my personal life which is not in my top 4. My "Inside Out" series touches on it, and I plan to dive deeper in a future series.
Have you heard of socionics, enneagram, tritype, vultology, 4 sides of the mind, interaction styles, OPS, or CPT?
Yes to all. I have a couple collabs and videos on my channel about enneagram and socionics. The other systems I've heard of and studied on a surface-level, and own/have read books on many of the above topics. For one reason or another, none of these topics have interested me enough to discuss regularly on the channel.
Stereotyping:
Any time I say a behavioral example of how a type shows up like "I tend to notice a lot of ISTJs with fitbits" this is to ground the theoretical concept for viewers who have repeatedly asked me to give behavioral examples and to make content less abstract and confusing. However, any time I stray from motives and transfer to behavior, it will lose universal application. Any time I give an example like this, it is not an absolute, it is not a rule, that behavior is not exclusive to that type, that behavior is not the exclusive manifestation of a type's motives, not everyone or even most of the type might do that thing; but it is simply a one-time example of how the motivations that ISTJs share could manifest - not how they must manifest.
In addition, different motivations aside from Si-Te motivations could also prompt someone to get a fitbit, so this behavior alone cannot be used to type someone. In my day to day life, I do not see people with a fitbit and therefore declare them an ISTJ. Any example I give did not come from inductive reasoning which gets applied universally like "I saw 3 ISTJs who wear fitbits therefore all ISTJs have fitbits." In addition these examples can be backed up deductively with Carl Jung's and Van Der Hoop's writing like "Si is finely attuned to sense organs"; "Te likes outcomes and metrics" "therefore an example could be, but is not limited to, ISTJs wearing fitbits, especially when used to measure sense organs."
I have been working on Ti and thus curbing misunderstandings on this front, but in case I say something contrary to this belief, it was due to sloppy Te langauge (or it was a non-serious joke) and not because I believe differently.

This is just what I needed! I am an ENTP who grew up in evangelicalism and I see how I was overusing Fe as a teenager which kept me in church for so long despite always clashing with some of the beliefs/politics. I was 20 when I finally left. Now, I'm 24 and I can see the role of Ti in my decision to walk away and start to shed all these beliefs I had attached myself to in pursuit of answers and community. I always wanted to understand the world around me, so theology fulfilled that need (it was dogma what I had an issue with) until I started higher ed in sociology. I see myself leaning more into the Ti in these next few years as I try to find my way back to who I truly am after religion caged me in throughout childhood/adolescence.

Good job leaving an environment that didn't lift you up. I grew up Catholic. Left as well. After trying to chat with the priest during confession to ask questions instead of confess things (at 8 yrs old. I'm just saying. Confession as a kid is ridiculous). They didn't like it too much. My friends liked my jokes though. But anyway. Respect your journey and that you did what was best for you. I've also felt the lack of community challenging. Still do. But it's not as bad as the whole horse and pony show.

I'm a 24 ENTP too. I left Catholicism, but it is Ti that I overused. I couldn't suffer dogma. The discovery of paleontology, biology and endogenous retroviruses (and I'm keeping this short) have taught me that there is no God. Now, science is what gives me the answers I'm searching for. Yeah, I'm one of those Ti-focused ENTPs, I was therefore initially thought to be an INTP I'm now trying to develop Fe, which I'm still struggling with. I'm genuinely curious about Fe-ENTPs. I know some, and there are some key differences. Their vibe is more "feminine", they are excellent social chameleons, while, for instance, I would fulfill the debater stereotype, by daring to verbally contradict a whole group out of nowhere, even if I acknowledge that it is something that I should alleviate. You said that you sticked to these ideas in pursuit of "answers and community", the ENTPs I know (except the Fe-focused) would violently quit a group if they're not able to impose their views. I have also observed that non Fe-focused are easily mean towards other people and forceful Anyway, I'm happy for you that you did away with obscurantism and found back the path to intellectual freedom Sorry for my bad English, this is not my mother tongue

Im an ENTP and i too had struggles with beliefs, but instead of disregarding it, I instead did my own research on why this was the right path to follow and solidified my beliefs as a result....I then realized i only ever had problems because of the lack of knowledge the persons who were indoctrinating me had(that or they just didnt have the patience to properly break down the info) in the end i remained a christian of gods word and not by a denomination

Thank you so much for this video. This is really helpful for ENTPs to realise that their journey doesn’t begin and end at always having the best ideas, and zipping through life by skill alone, but that we can really harness the Ne potential if we force ourselves to use that Si. I always always grew up being told that, but I (typically of an ENTP) turned my own life upside down multiple times in a few years and always questioned why I never got results. It wasn’t until I turned inward with that “fixing myself” mindset that I started getting my life in order and started actually achieving the things I and everyone else knew I could do. So many ENTPs problem solving is so outwardly focussed because they KNOW they’re smart, but this holier-than-thou attitude REALLY stumps them especially in their teen years. That story you gave about the positive impact an ENTP had on you is a perfect example of what Ne and Ti can do when you have ANY competence with Fe, because ultimately what we want is to be accepted; not just accepted as we are (we hate that shit) but appreciated for what we’ve done. We want to go out and make a positive impact. That’s the ultimate goal of our obsession with Ne. You’ve earned a sub ❤

as someone who consistently tested as INFJ on the internet tests like 16 personalities, after being professionally typed I've come to find out I am ENTP. Once I started looking for more deep-dive analysis videos it began to make a lot of sense.

Same here. I was professionally typed INTP multiple times, and if I took an online test it would come INTP. Also, every time I take the MMPI (taking it many times) the results says that I am being dishonest...I would bet that happens a lot with ENTPs

I study environmental sustainability and systems thinking is HIGHLY used in my field - check out these two FANTASTIC books on Systems Thinking: 1) Donna Meadows "Thinking in Systems," and 2) David Peter Stroh "Systems Thinking for Social Change." The latter one analyzes the first one but it's much more readable than the first. These books literally changed my entire undergrad experience in university. Wishing you well!
