I'm an INTP. I'll share with you my take on Ti and Ne: Briefly, Ti builds the internal model that makes sense of the world, and Ne collects the empirical evidence to support and validate the model. To elaborate: They work together like they are joined at the hip. Without Ne, the Ti model is just a hypothesis, blue-sky and impractical, not a full blown theory or functional model. Without Ti to organize the Ne data into a coherent model, Ne is just a box full of random pieces like a jigsaw puzzle that has not been assembled. Working together, these two functions allow an INTP to synthesize, which is the process of turning an unknown-unknown (an invisible gap in the model), into a known-unknown (Oh, I need something that looks somewhat like 'this'), and finally into a known-known (Ah! Got it!) Synthesis ability is the real nature of fluid intelligence. Memorization ability is *NOT* intelligence, it serves to support intelligence by keeping relevant information readily available for the synthesis process. An intelligent person cannot synthesize from a position of ignorance, but will be driven to use Ne to fill the deficiencies in data knowledge if sufficiently motivated. A person who is a superior memorizer but has only average fluid intelligence will not be very good at synthesis. Ne never turns off. It will work invisibly in the background, bringing the conscious attention into laser focus when it finds something that might fill a need for new information or evidence. I can specifically ask my subconscious to look for things for me and it works in the background continuously, apparently even as I sleep. So, I disagree to some extent with your application of the switch analogy. I think one function goes into the foreground, gaining more conscious attention and energy while the complementary function goes into the background and operates in the subconscious. The gateway between the conscious and subconscious is strange. It is sometimes "visible" to me, but it seems to be something like a dark well that my conscious mind cannot see into. Your description of Si is somewhat helpful, but rather too verbose and my model of it is not yet fleshed out. I will give an example of a possible application from my own experience: I took up dancing about 14 years ago. I found that when I have learned a specific dance pattern, all is well until I try to learn another pattern that is too similar, but different in critical ways. Then this new pattern is much harder to learn than was the first pattern because I keep getting parts of the two mixed up until I eventually sort them out. It also applies when I try to change a pattern that I have learned into something a bit different, like for the development of a choreographed routine. I also think that it is Si that tells me when something about a movement does not feel right, like it is clumsy, uncoordinated, jerky or awkward for some reason, but does not tell me why, or how to fix it. It just signals *where* in time and space something needs to be fixed with pretty good precision. Sometimes, the Ti-Ne diad can give me a possible solution, but often I need a third point of view like the opinion of a coach, or a review of a video clip to solve the problem. Hope it's not to late for you to see this, and hope you find it helpful.

I agree that comfort sensing is Si. But outside the comfort zone is Se not Ne. Si-Ne go together. The more comfortable you are the more oblivious to reality you can be in Ne.

Socionics Model G shows the Dominant (1st) and Critical Parent (6th) are what we prefer to use most on the job. And we prefer to use the Beebe Parent (2nd) and Inferior (5th) in our favorite hobbies. That means we INTPs pefer Ti-Ni stable introverted jobs. But off the job we become more extroverted and prefer to jump into our creative Ne - Fe. INTPs use Ne-Fe to share ideas in close range. Which, as an INTP (LII), I am doing right now in writing this comment. ----------------------------------------------- I encourage you to dump mbti in favor of the much better and more accurate Socionics. -------------------------------------------- Socionics is easy to convert from mbti once you understand the mbti introverted sensing cognitive stack error. Observation & Socionics proves ALL mbti-SJs actually lead with judging. ALL mbti-SPs actually lead with sensing. Including the introverts!!!!! So: Mbti- ISFJ = ISFj (ESI) leads with correctly defined FiSe = Relations enforced through external sensory actions like nursing. Mbti-ISTJ = ISTj (LSI) leads with correctly defined TiSe = laws enforced ✏️ 📝 . Example: Accounting. Mbti-ISTP = ISTp (SLI) leads with correctly defined SiTe = Sensory pragmatism 🔨 🛠 🪛 🔧 Mbti- ISFP = ISFp (SEI) leads with correctly defined SiFe = Sensory mood 💋 💄 Note: Thankfully Mbti only has the 4 introverted sensor's leading 2 functions wrong. Thankfully, it has the other 12 type's leading 2 functions right after doing a J and P switch ONLY for the introverted intuitives.

Mbti is not correct about the cognitive stack. INTPs are better at feelings than sensation. Socionics shows that INTP's correct cognitive stack is: Mental Ring (conscious): Ti - Ne - Fi - Se Vital Ring (subconscious): Fe - Si - Te - Ni To understand more google Wikisocion

Socionics Model G shows INTP (LII) progresses by becoming more like an INFJ (IEI) in public and an ENFP (IEE) in private. ------------------------------------------ INTP's Socionics Benefactor is an INFJ. INTP's Socionics Supervisee is an ENFP. Each type progresses by looking more like their Benefactor and Supervisee. Detached INTPs progress best by becoming more internal like an NF. They will never be good at external ST activities. And are so so being involved in SF activities.

Thank you so much, it was a pleasure to listen. I feel stuck after watching the video. My problem is, I have no big life dreams I absolutely want to achieve. Beside of being comfortable in my life and stay with my hubby until the end. There are some lifestyles/outgoings, which I like, but they are quite different and I do not prefer one (living at the coast or living rural, big family vs. cat mum). There are some smaller goals I would like to meet, but these are mainly getting better at hobbies (drawing, sewing) - not becoming a professional artist. 🤯

At 22 I was a teacher for 3 years. Planning lessons killed me. Then I stayed home and was a mom. During that time I worked on Te habits (I do better with the flexibility of routines than schedules). Now I’m 40 and all my kids are in school and I’ve never been more passionate about life because I parse out my days for writing poetry, writing articles on whatever I’m fixated on, painting, and meeting friends. My first self-illustrated poetry book will be published in a month. My new growth track is frightening - marketing myself! I hate that so very much. I also know I need to learn to put value on my creations and start making money on them but I don’t know how to do that and it freaks me out… but I will get there. I can’t yet wrap my head around what I need to do or not do with my Si.

I glazed over your text a couple of times before I could just sit down and focus. Probably due to the speed of your speech and mostly flat intonation. I suggest more pauses, intonational signposting, some simplification to your script and slower speech. Also, get a mic and don't be in the corner where the lens distorts your face

I just started learning about all this personality stuff the other day but so far it is amazing how much this tracks with me. Until this video I really only knew about the primary function stereotypes and everything was like yeah I do this or think like this but after hearing about the secondary function is when it started to get real weird. I might be starting to grow into my secondary function because I booked my first long trip across the country a month ago purely our of curiosity, I decided I want to get out and do things and see things. I also literally just bought a Hawaiian shirt today so it was weird to hear you mention that specific example.

i’ve seen a lot of similar comments saying they’re between istj and estj, and i completely agree! Around my friends in school i’m very extroverted and most of the time a leadership role , who „gets it done“. (sometimes even doing their work, in an unhealthy way) but i also see myself being very VERY introverted around some people.

This has been so helpful. I've been following another KZbinr for years, scratching away at it and trying to dig out the truth, but I kept getting stuck. I only recently realized that I could try other sources. The way you explain things has expanded my understanding of the cognitive functions so much, and I am more confident about my type now. Also, as someone else said, encouraging me to pursue the multi-passions gave me such relief and excitement. Everyone in my life beats up on my Ne.

About the being too probing, some people get uncomfortable when I friggin breathe in their presence. On the other hand I find curiosity a very attractive personality trait, I very much like if someone is a bit probing in other people's eyes but not in mine. It means they're actually interested. Which today is a rare occurence.

INTP - I had snakes, tarantulas and a 3m tank with large iridescent sharks. I used to hop between jobs every 10 or so months until I studied law and mediation. It's demanding but always a new case on the rise. Just found your channel and love your videos! It's accurate with lots of novel information on things I thought I fully understood before. Sometimes I feel like Ne is a curse, maybe my Ti/Si judges it, but videos like this help me see the good impact we all make using it.

In my teens, I ignored that Fe function. As a guy, having gentle traits gets frowned upon. I had mistyped myself as an ISTJ not understanding the cognitive functions. Really, I was stuck in that introverted loop. I always felt unbalanced, but didn't understand why. It wasn't until my mid twenties that I realized I was ignoring a part of myself and started developing that function.

This is the best advice I've found that properly describes how to create goals that are goals you'd actually want to achieve. Every other video just assumes that you have goals. Even if you have goals, I'm constantly wondering why those are my goals. Although I'm not totally sure about attack 1 goal at a time, I think the goals need to worked on somewhat together. I can't just become a business owner in 1 year. That could take 10. I could also focus on becoming a better cook at the same time.
