If you don’t get a pass the night before. Get up really early like 4:30 and get into the area you want before 7:00. Not 100 percent sure if they will have a gate or not to those areas. I know you can do that into the park but you want to go to the other places.

Yes, you can get in before 7 if you don't get the reservation you need. I cover that near the end of the video :)

Bring back the skiing at Paradise. It was great.

Yeah, they haven't even had the sledding open very much these past couple of years. Not sure if they'll keep things going :(

Great answers for many questions I had! I have a few more: If I wanted to go sept 20, I don’t need a reservation of any kind, but still need to buy some things right like a pass or something? To either sunrise or paradise, which would be the best option for driving only with little hiking? (As in just park on side of road, maybe trek a few hundred feet to see a good view.) And in contrast, what would be best options that do include some hiking?

You will still need to purchase a park entrance pass when you arrive. We just released a podcast episode (you can find it here on KZbin) that talks extensively about Paradise vs. Sunrise, so that will help you decide/answer your questions!

Thank you so much for this amazing video! Quick question...when they open up, are they always at 300 tickets every time slot? Also, the 2 hour window is just for entrance, doesn't mean you have to be in and out in 2 hours right? Thank you!
@DirtInMyShoes4 ай бұрын
Yes, they always release a specific number. And the 2-hour window is just for entrance...you can stay as long as you want.

Question. If I do the reservation for Sunrise Corridor. Finish visiting Sunrise let say at 16:00. Can I drive from Sunrise to Steven’s Canyon and then west through Paradise? I’m staying overnight basically 2 minutes away from the Paradise entrance.
@DirtInMyShoes7 ай бұрын
Yes, as long as it's after the reservation hours.

Thank you so much. I'm going in August. Wasn't sure because right now google maps doesn't gives me the option to drive in that direction.

What would be the best way to access the Tolmie Peak trailhead?

You'll want to use the Mowich Lake Road to get back in there!

Very informative video. New subscriber. Question... Planning to go to Mt Rainier NP in mid-September. I was planning to do paradise one day and sunshine another day but not a lot of housing options. Can I do this all-in-one day? I read that it would take 5 hours to drive the loop. We are not big hikers; 1 mile hike is plenty enough. Your thoughts please.
@DirtInMyShoes7 ай бұрын
If you're not planning on doing much hiking, you could get to both areas in a day!

You can learn about the backcountry options and how to get a permit here: www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/wilderness-permit.htm The Wonderland Trail is the most famous/popular backpacking trip in the park!

Thanks for all the information, Private vehicle entrance tickets are greyed out from May1st till September 2nd of this year. Do we get day pass when we arrive in park entrance? Do we have to only reserve corridor time slots? Please confirm.
@DirtInMyShoes6 ай бұрын
You can pay the entrance fee when you get there...I wouldn't bother doing it in advance. But the vehicle reservations do need to be done online in advance. Good luck!

Hi! Great Video! Do you happen to know how early the park rangers are at each of the entrances if we are attempting to purchase a visitor pass before 7 AM? Thank you!

No, they don't publish their hours and it varies from park to park!

If you want to go from the Paradise Corridor to the Sunrise Corridor in one day, do you need to get two passes?
@DirtInMyShoes7 ай бұрын
Yes!
@eastwestpicayune82007 ай бұрын
Were you able to make it all in one day? How long was the drive from Paradise to Sunrise Corridor? Looks like there is a short cut but most You tube videos I watched, people were driving back out from the Paradise corridor loop then to Sunrise (2 hour drive) Like to do it in a few months.

Mt. Rainier is a national park. So it's also my tax dollars being used. I dont mind a $2.00 charge.

It will be interesting to see how much it helps with the crowding as the summer gets busier!

They did this in Colorado and it is an absolute Sh!t show!!! Now City, County and State parks are doing the same. Basically everyone who lives in the state cant use the parks they pay for in Taxes!! That is unless you schedule months ahead. Next they will eliminate ALL camping without reservations. Yes. Colorado did that also..and so will Washington. 😢
@DirtInMyShoes7 ай бұрын
The reservation system can definitely be super frustrating. It's a hard balance between managing the crowds and not keeping people out!
