I'm actually studying Marine Biology and Oceanography at a local community college to be able to transfer out to a 4-year University and being from San Diego California I'm so fortunate to be living in sich a Coastal community and have access to various beaches here on the West coast!! I recently applied for a PAID summer internship at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography at UCSD (University of California San Diego) and while I currently have very little experience, in my current college we have been conducting labs, observing different plankton/fosh species under the microscope and studying the effects of microplastics that make their way up the food chain I'm very excited and hoping so much to be accepted for this internship opportunity! I've loved the ocean ever since I was a small child so Marine Bio is a dream field for me.😍 To be more specific however I'm pusuing Marine Ecology (the environments not necessarily the fish).

You posting a fisheries observer, would be great. Currently look at jobs no and been seeing a lot of mix reviews for being an observer.

If I may ask what are some suggestions for someone that is older looking to get into Marine Sciences? I am interested in things like lab/technician work maybe some biotech in the future. I am just trying to get an idea of what I should be focusing on and what is realistic. I live a minimalist lifestyle and I want to travel and potentially do work abroad.

If you have a Masters degree or higher, will that help with hiring preference as well??
