I'm finally getting my 13A marriage visa stamp on Nov 29th after applying through an accredited agency back in mid-July. The wife and I did the probationary 1 year visa on our own in 2023. I returned to the US for about 6 months to take care of some things. On my return this year, I got the permanent visa application started just in time to not have to start all over again. They've had changes in the immigration bureau and its gotten a lot more complicated.

I feel your pain regarding getting the entry permit from the BAI…I think we had at least 3 rejections as well😳 The online application is not user friendly and it’s difficult to get to the bottom of a rejection….in the end if you can communicate by email directly to the BAI it will help…. We were successful in bringing our Cocker Spaniel in on Emirates from Dubai as “checked luggage” so all’s well that ends well 😊 btw, one thing that caught us out was the requirement to “home quarantine” the dog for 30 days….we got told by the BAI officer at Manila on arrival….may not affect you but we needed to bring him from Manila to Mindoro and we couldn’t get the necessary vet certificate for the ferry until the 30 days was up… Bearing in mind I’ve moved dogs and cats to/from UK, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia in the past, I found the Philippines requirements quite reasonable by comparison…it’s just the clunky online system that caused most stress 🙄

One has to be careful as the Philippines is not for everyone. They are a developeing country and they have issues with electricity, drinking water and internet connections. The Philippines have a lot of "brown outs", that's what they called when you lose electricity. It can be very frustrating. Things don't work like the West. You could be waiting for 20 minutes or longer for your food in a fast food restaurant. Most of the time lots of basic commodities are out of stock and they have no clue when they will hace it in stock. Paying an electric bill is not as easy as in the US. You may need to go there in person to pay it. I think one issue a lot of people complain about is the noise. One has to experience it to know. Poor infrastructure so the roads are not the best. And sadly the Philippines suffers from a lot of natural disasters from typhoons, earthquakes, flooding, landslides,etc. And unless you live in the capital, medical is a nightmare in the Philippines. It is best to live for 3 months and see it is for you.

No outwards ticket required. It's assumed you have a year to apply for 13a.
@jackmeloff33359 күн бұрын
You may have to explain it to them and ask that they look it up, it’s on the website for travel information. Some airlines don’t care and some do.

Yes as others said no return ticket required. Just be ready to explain the balikbayan visa and also have proof of your marriage. The airlines get confused sometimes about it. They didn't want to let me board in Korea because they said my stay is longer than allowed by Philippines. I had to inform them about the balikbayan visa and they looked it up. Immigration in the Philippines may ask for proof of your marriage.

Does it bother you moving to a country where you are treated as a lesser class of citizen? I was looking at the options for integrating to become a Philippine citizen, but the major dilemma for me was that no matter how good of a person I tried to be, and no matter how much I worked to integrate into the society, even after decades of living there, I could never earn the same rights and privileges as natives, such as the right to own land, or the right to have any opinions when it comes to anything even approaching a political discussion. For me, I guess that's where it ended. I have the utmost respect for everyone in the Philippines, their way of life, and their government... but I decided I couldn't live in a place that would never be willing to treat me as an equal. Likewise, I would want anyone who emigrated to the country I live in to be able to earn the same exact rights and liberties that I enjoy, once they have gone through the naturalization process.
@maximus66219 күн бұрын
If you became a Naturalized Filipino Citizen you have the rights to own land and vote. Who told you that you could not own land if you were a Naturalized Filipino? You would probably have to renounce your citizenship from your birth country unless you have Filipino blood and can become a dual citizen.
@MiniDevilDF9 күн бұрын
@@maximus6621 I was told that natural born filipino citizens still hold special rights and privileges over naturalized citizens, one includes land ownership. I was told that while a foreigner may own the house itself, the land that the house sits on must be owned by a filipino. I was also told that another example of special privilege that exists is that even after losing or renouncing citizenship, a natural-born filipino may still own land.
@maximus66219 күн бұрын
@ A foreigner that has Naturalized Filipino Citizenship os now a Filipino and has the same rights as a Natural Born Filipino. A Natural born Filipino that acquired citizenship in a foreign country and is no longer a Filipino citizen can still own land but has limits in size of property one can buy. No limit in inherited property.

@@rayintoledocebuphilippines5517 a foreigner becoming a Naturalized Filipino Citizen usually means giving up citizenship of their birth country i.e. USA. Ever looked at taking a pet to another country? UK quarantine is 6 months. Thousands of dollars. I personally wouldn’t do it. I don’t suggest it to others. At the end of the day it comes down to the well being of the family and a pet, it’s not a child. As much as I love my pets, there is a difference and a limit. Find an alternative home for them. Make sure they are cared for but a line needs to be drawn in order for people to move on.
