Hi Ali, congrats on passing the FE exam! I’m about to start studying for it and I’m really anxious!! I’m just curious, what is your education background? Were there any topics in the FE that were new to you? And how did you prepare for it?
@ENVAli2 жыл бұрын
Hey Armkon, thank you! Don’t be anxious, as you continue to study you will build up your confidence with the material. I got my BS degree in environmental engineering (I graduated and took the FE about a year after). Maybe it was just my exam, but I found there were a few more soil questions than I was expecting. There is a soil section in the Civil portion of the FE Handbook, so thankfully I was able to work through them. I shared everything that I utilized for the exam in this video, I promise I didn’t leave anything out lol.

Thanks for sharing this info! Can you share pictures of the flashcards you made? Would be a great study reference for me! :)

Hey Isabela, thank you for tuning in to my video! Unfortunately I couldn’t attach the index cards in the description box :/ I was hoping to be able to attach a PDF but I wasn’t able to on my end. I would encourage you to have a spare piece of paper next to you while you study, write all formulas you ever use down and organize by topic. At the end of your study session for each section, review the formula you used and what I did was to write on index cards any formula/equation that I wasn’t 100% clear on. I hope this helps!

Thank you Ali for this video! Do you have any digital material with practice exercises that you could share with me ? I haven’t find much material for fundamental principles ;(

A civil engineer does not only environmental engineering but also many other ones...

I'm an Environmental Engineering undergrad senior, and I genuinely believe that my program lacks the necessary courses I need to to take to pass the Environmental FE. What classes must I take? What subjects are covered?
@heckleyeah3992 жыл бұрын
Sorry, you cover the subjects later on in the video. But if you could suggest what are necessary engineering courses to take, I would appreciate it!

Hey, thank you so much for your comment. (Sorry in advance for the long reply lol) The section breakdown from NCEES is a good place to start but I can see how it’s a bit vague. I’m sorry you feel your program is a bit lacking, I sorta understand how you feel; at my university, the program only had 3 professors. Rest assured, there are many ways to learn outside of university! Classes I took that I think directly apply to the FE: - Calc - Intro to Environmental Engineering (took this class with the textbook I showed in the video - super helpful for a general overview) - Probability and Statistics - Fluid Mechanics - Thermodynamics - Engineering Econ - Air Quality/ Pollution - Solis and Hazardous Waste - Water and Wastewater Treatment If you feel you have low confidence in your courses, I’d consider using PPI. It’s pretty expensive but it does give a ton of practice problems and explanations. It’s sorta like Mathlab or Physicslab. I used it as a requirements for one of my classes, I personally hate online questions like that but it was valuable and you know the questions are being curated. Please let me know if you have any additional questions, I’m happy to help :)

@@ENVAli Thank you so much! This is super helpful. I am taking thermo as an extra class, and I will have to see if any kind of solids waste is taught outside of the Engineering college. I'm taking materials and mechanics of solids as well if that helps.
