They knew since last season that Jackson is extremely wasteful but didn't sign another striker other than Guiu. Jackson is at best a good squad option to play as a backup striker or emergency left winger. There aren't many good goal scorers in this team and they're letting go Nkunku who is one of the few proven goal scorers. Nkunku never got the chance to play as a 10 or second striker in the PL. Palmer could've perfectly played on the right and Nkunku/Félix in the middle. Neto and Madueke are both low end product players so leaving them for the conference league is probably the best choice. Chelsea will regret letting Nkunku go.

Maresca did the same thing in Leicester leading 17 points and in the second round points whittle to almost one point. Maresca has been found out is true. He has only plan A. No plan B. Maresca has to make changes when the intensity drops. You can't tell me that he hasn't worked out that in the last 5 games we play a great first half and then can't muster the strength to finish the last 30 min. Game after game the back line starts to get sloppy after 60 min. Instead of proactively changing Madueke when he couldn't be bothered to get back on side in a timely fashion, he allows him to then lose a ball on the sideline that leads to the second goal. Watching the second half of a Chelsea game is like watching one boxer trying to survive the 12th round while the other guy has only boxed for 6.
