the pouches on the back aren't for ammo, they're for sustainment. Typically a poncho/BASHA with line kit, canteen with cup, jetboil with cup and hygiene kit, and one for food. The admin pouch also normally includes a big ass cheat sheet binder the brits are fond of hauling around. Filled for fighting moreso than training these kits can comfortably carry 2l of water, 6 mags, 100rds linked, commo (152+battery, fox tails, signal panel, multiple flares and chemlights), 6 frags/smokes. If you're going to look at brit belt kit though, you really need to understand how they use smocks, because the two are inseparable imo. The smock will usually carry everything needed to keep you alive and semi/comfortable, the belt kit carries 48-72hr of sustainment and is your fighting order, you might have a small assault bag for a hydro bladder and extra munitions, and your ruck is for camping edit* sidebar: those plastic cobra buckles are seriously slept on

Typically the 4 rear pouches will contain a jetboil, rations, canteen with cup and some misc items like wooly hat, spare gloves etc. the ammo pouches hold 6 out of 7 basic load mags on the correct hip for reload ergos.(They make lefty versions too) The Commanders pouch on the right side is for aide memoirs, signaling kit, various other items that a leader might use. All in all it’s a solid rig that many of those who only have served in the GWOT-attach-everything-to-your-bodyarmor-era have a limited understanding of. See some vids from Ukraine and how much ammo and grenades are being carried in a real war and you will appreciate the carrying capability of this rig. Jayjays did a custom order for me in 2001 for 3 Danish M/84 camo Ops Vests from my design input and the quality was on par with issued PLCE stuff, so bombproof.

I used this and the patrol yoke covered in red painted pouches and reflective material cut from a hi vis vest for my forestry rig. I have double the storage of everyone wearing a cruising vest and I have much better thermoregulation because of all the mesh and open sides on the patrol yoke. VERY comfortable and, as you can imagine, I'm climbing logs, crossing streams, climbing up and down obstacles and hills and humping countless miles. I see lots of SHTF prepper/ minute man types using Brit surplus belt kit and I tell them: Genuine JayJays is superior by every metric you can ask for. The material doesn't seem to fade in the sun and dirt, either, which is rare

I bought a genuine jay jays patrol yoke and hippo belt and molled on spiritus systems pouches. Got a couple Jay jay gp pouches too. Like you said, absolutely the best. I wear it all day long. I work 12+ hr shifts and even then, I can’t wait to just don my rig. I hike on all my days off, mountain bike, garden, lumberjack and do some ruck running for fun. It feels like a blankie to me. Silly, I know, but you forget you’re wearing it. And I just love wearing it. Do I need an extra 30 lbs of gear on me? No, but it’s so much fun and it’s so comfortable. The Brits definitely created a benchmark kit. Leagues better than ALICE or any plate carrier-but a plate carrier is intention-driven or purpose-driven. Just like this gear.

Just thought we'd drop in with a comment! 1. The radio straps can be adjusted. 2. Yes, wear it low on your hips. This one is currently set up far too high. It's designed to have a Bergan / full back pack over it. 3. It's not Asian (ouch!); it's designed by veterans in the UK, made in the UK and the fabric is also not Asian. 4. The two rows of molle on the ammo pouch - this is more than enough. It's designed for grenades and when fitted correctly, they will never loosen. 5. The drag handle is more than capable - it is also covered by our Lifetime Guarantee (which comes as standard with everything we produce.). This has been tried and tested by soldiers over 2 miles and held up perfectly. (We have a video on this on our channel.) 6.The utility pouches are not optimized for ammo. They are designed to carry general purpose items. 7. Also, we've noticed the Velcro is coming away on the admin pouch insert. Could you have the owner drop us an email to have this resolved. Please do get in touch with any other questions - we're always happy to discuss our kit! Thanks again for the review.

I've been using this kit for a few months and have loved it so far. It is pretty expensive, though. For the belt kit and yoke to go with, it ran me $440.49 after it was all said and done. Still way better value than if one were to take the spiritus split rig and upgrade it with the butt pack expansion, proper magazine, and nalgene pouches. The crossfire rig was what i was going to get, but it was out of stock, and i was impatient. From what I've been hearing from people running that rig, it's solid.

The good thing about these is that pouches don't flop up and down slapping your thighs/ass when you run. The bad thing is that the belt pad is massive and it completely covers your hips. I've been searching for a happy medium between this and a jungle harness for years. Everything either doesnt carry enough or its floppy or it's massive.
@ExplosiveFetus
@ExplosiveFetus 10 ай бұрын
I have a Bae Eclipse belt and it solved some of these problems for me. It's only two rows tall, so it doesn't cover your hips as much, it has dense foam padding so it keeps pouches on the hips more stable than a belt with soft padding, but the back section is really wide and acts as a lumbar pad, so it keeps my buttpack pretty stable.

Try adjusting it up a bit, or the yoke a little higher. I did that to mine and I love that it actually hugs my pelvis. And I don’t have a typical flat guy ass. I have junk in my trunk, and that’s coming from someone who bodybuilds: 5’11”, 189#, 32 waist, 46 chest

The rear pouches aren't for mags. They're utility/general purpose. Focus being, 24hr sustainment. Ration bits, socks, canteens, even a jet boil will fit in them. As for the radio pouch, it's for the prc 354 bowman. As for the belt pad height and wearing it on the waist, it acts as a waist belt for the issued bergen. Which rides higher and doesn't have a weight bearing belt built in. Honestly, the styling and layout is a hold over of doctrine from the 90s. Same doctrine they're teaching at the infantry battle school in the Brecons, where jayjays is based.

Left handed shooters can purchase the Chameleon. Allows you to place mag pouches on the right hand side and the admin pouch on the left. The most comfortable harness is the Patrol Yoke. Which also allows you to add pouches (radio) to it. Used properly - this is the “gucci” of LBE. Their customer service is awesome!

Best thing in the world for doing true infantry shit. Some folks run them higher up, closer to chest rig height. I prefer to let them ride lower, the interior belt right on top of, or directly over the trouser belt, hugging the hips. The tall hippo pads get a little warm, but they carry 20~30 pounds very comfortably, very stably, and the better ones (DZ rig) wick sweat/moisture away from the body, helping prevent chafing in warmer climates. They're also meant to get gear off your torso for moving about in hot weather. JJ's is among the best out there, and the price reflects that. Though, it's not overpriced straight from JJ's when compared to other top of the line web gear, it's a better rig than the VelSys jungle belt, but the additional ~$50 for shipping to the US is obnoxious, and possibly import fees, as well. Radio and sidearm are the most annoying things about most belt kits, most folks molle a radio pouch to the side of one of the other pouches. Sidearm is more difficult to figure out. Crossfire DZ rig is a slightly lower priced alternative already available here in the US, equal in quality, but with a few different features, along with the best designed pouch closure method I've seen. They're set up like JJ's "chameleon" with molle at the ends of the belt pad, and canteen/sustainment pouches hard sewn. I'd highly, highly recommend taking a look at one of those if you get the opportunity, I can't say enough good things about it.

I don't see that you've reviewed the ATAPS panel yet on here. I have one I think you'd be interested in checking out. It's a weird rig. I like it, but it seems to suffer from an identity crisis on whether it wants to be a chest rig or whether it wants to be a belt kit.

I’ll be frank this video doesn’t really do justice to the product and broad concept *because* of the ad-hoc style of presentation. If anything it would be great if you did a second take, supplemented with additional surface level background research. Anyway I think Jayjay’s is probably one of the best versatile one and done belt kit packages you can get on the market without going custom nor building on a molle system because it’s feature rich without going overboard. It’s expensive, but it’s got just about everything or most of what you’d need for a 24hr rig alone. I’d definitely take this over some belt kit you find especially stateside.
@EODFish
@EODFish 10 ай бұрын
Feedback noted and appreciated. Fully admit this style of setup isn’t my cup of tea so doing it justice by using all the GP space as just that wasn’t exactly the goal. Rough capacity using items of a known sizing should help folks figure out if could work for them but I do regret not thinking to try a jetboil in there.

@@EODFish personal preference obviously plays a role, but I'd argue that the webbing should sit at least below the body armour(soft armour, not just plates). It's hard to tell exactly where it would sit without seeing it being worn.
