It cannot be understated how outrageously freaking epic it was to see Vader unleashed like that! To fans going all the way back to 1977 we had to wait 40 years to see Vader like that. In the past he always held back, either because he still felt some semblance of emotion for Obi-wan or because he could not bring himself to kill his son. But here? These men meant nothing to him and he went in furious! Lord Vader in ALL of his menacing glory!

Cassian's "I've been in this fight since I was *six* years old. You're not the only one who lost everything." cuts really deep after the Andor TV show. He's by far the most interesting character of the Disney era SW.
@LA_HA

deiwi: For me, this movie's best aspect is how it shows the bleak, dirty, and heartbreaking grit of War. It's Never black and white, right and wrong because we witness bad people on the side of the rebellion, and good people on the side of the Empire. They all have their stories and reasons, with differing measures of validity than shown in previous Star Wars movies. It's not more war-like than the other Star Wars movies. Just more realistic because it shows the grunts, the people who get swept into things they don't survive, who are nameless to most fans. And that's how it is in real life. It's a sad movie... Except for the end when Vader turns this space opera epic into a horror film

I saw this 4x in the theater. Everytime Vader appeared in the hall, everything got silent and you could hear a pin drop, then we erupted in cheers when the lightsaber engaged. What's EVEN MORE DOPE is he's deflecting blaster shots, throwing people around the room, seizing blasters, AND THE WHOLE TIME he's also using the force to keep the exit door from opening!! Vader is such a badass mofo he's MULTITASKING his force projection. Just pure power!

The one character you were questioning in the film was in fact CGI. Peter Cushing played Grand Moff Tarkin in “A New Hope”. He is killed on the Death Star, when it is shot by Luke using the intel gained here in “Rogue One”. The actor (Peter Cushing) died in 1994, so they had to resort to using CGI to bring his integral character back to the screen. Likewise they used CGI to de-age Leia for the final closing scene. Their images are a little clunky looking, but they serve the plot well. Love this flick!

SOOO glad you decided to react to this, in my opinion this is one of the last really good Star Wars movies that came out, the new trilogy wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Also, to explain the difference between Clone and Storm Troopers. - Clone Troopers were introduced in the prequel trilogy of Star Wars (Episodes I-III where Anakin turns to the dark side) and are genetic copies of the bounty hunter Jango Fett who was killed my Mace Windu. A good way to tell them apart is that Clone Troopers wore white armor WITH colors and markings to denote their units and ranks. - Storm Troopers are introduced in the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV-VI), which takes place after the prequels (where we meet Luke, Han and Leia. Stormtroopers wear all white armor similar in design to the Clone Troopers, but with minor differences. As for the whereabouts of Clone Troopers, they either 1. Joined the Storm Troopers after the Clone Wars 2. Went into hiding or 3. Simply retired. Hope this helps!

I love this film. It's such a dramatic shift from other Star Wars films, a hopeful tragedy if you will. It also dares to show the truth of rebellions, that they are never pure and clean. There is always human tragedy and evil deeds done in the name of good. It all depends on how desperate the fight is, and being a member of a small force of rebels fighting a massive galaxy spanning empire with potentially quadrillions of people would make anyone feel a little bit desperate. It also manages to do something no other Star Wars film has ever dared to do, kill the main characters. They all do the noble sacrifice in the end, and by said sacrifice, they ultimately save the galaxy.

The old guy that "looks so weird" is Grand Moff Tarkin (played by Perter Cushing). He looks weird because he is CGI. He was in the original Star Wars and died in 1994. Since this is a prequel to the original story (which leads directly into where the beginning of Star Wars: A New Hope begins) Grand Moff Tarkin's role was important in this film, and they used CGI to include him. They (obviously) did the same with Princess Leia's character at the end.

@Sandlund93

Episode 7 is actually quite decent. But it's too much of a homage to Episode 4 imo. I see why they did it but there was no need to tell the same story twice. I could accept that, as long as they upped their game for 8 and 9. The problem is that they did the opposite, first with 8 and then 9 trying to correct the blunders in 8, making both of them a complete mess. It's sloppy at best. My only criticism for 7 is that Disney completely disrespected the Force in it, which they kinda did in all three movies tbh. That's why both Rey and Finn are way too proficient with a lightsaber. They both should have sliced off their own limbs by mistake in seconds, considering the situations they were in. If we compare with Luke and Anakin they had 3 and 10 years of practice respectively before their first duels, including being mentored by another Jedi. And they both lost their first duels. I know there is a bunch of stuff inbetween movies that are covered in books and comics and whatnot but I don't even know if that is canon anymore. Ohh well.

To make that Vader corridor scene even crazier is the FACT that it almost never happened! It was just a few months for the film to come out & a camera man, yes, comes up with this idea of a scene! It was never in the script! This camera dude felt that they should have Vader going full beast mode to wrap up the film & just because "why the hell not!?" This moment was a last minute idea out of the blue from a person without any creative control what so ever & is now regarded among the top best scenes in all of SW! The "T-15s are obsolete" chitchat was a reference to the stormtroopers in A New Hope who were chatting about the new T-16s when Obi-Wan distracted them so he could disable the Death Star's tractor beam. My buddy Rocky and I are massive Star Wars fans. His favorite was ALWAYS Empire. Until this movie. His common phrase is "Rogue One is best one." Lol Great reaction! Glad you really dug this one. It's my second favorite just behind the original Star Wars.

The CGI guy is ‘Grand Moff’ Wilhuff Tarkin, Palpatine’s lapdog. He was from ‘A New Hope’ alongside of Vader and the actor passed away years ago.😎

Something that I loved about this movie, which is something you kind of caught onto as well, was this isn’t a movie about Jedi. There is no superhero. This is literally just individuals, soldiers, outcasts, making a difference. There’s no mythical Force to save them. It’s one of the most gritty and human of the Star Wars.

Now I know you don’t react to shows but if you really want to see more Vader then the Kanobi series is something of interest, great video

Vader, in his prime, casually cutting his path through that hallway was a prime example of baddassery. The theater, collectively lost their shit. I had such VERY HIGH hopes for Disney Star Wars after this and TFA but, well, to each their own right? Still, that hallway scene is just as amazing to me now as is the hallway scene in a Disney+ show I hope you watch. Also iconic in my head. 🐾

Ben Mendelsohn, who played Director Krennic, also played another great bad guy in Ready Player One; Nolen Sorrento. He also portrays Talos, the shape-shifting leader of the Skrulls, in Captain Marvel. In another MCU tie in, Jin's father, Galen Erso, was played by Mads Mikkelsen, who was also in Dr. Strange as Kaecilius.

"Glorious" is the perfect word for that Vader scene! As epic as it was makes it even crazier that the next lightsaber fight in the timeline is that underwhelming and rigid duel between him and Obi-Wan in ep 4.

I am SO thrilled to hear you say you are "going to watch everything Star Wars" because The Clone Wars movie (the forgotten theatrical Star Wars film), The Clone Wars Micro-Series, The Clone Wars (the show), Rebels, Bad Batch, and Tales of the Jedi are all great, too. Together, the Clone Wars and Rebels IS the Vader show you need in your life!
