So many scenes had direct callbacks to specific scenes in the Connery/Moore Bond films. The clear suit was Dr. No, for instance. The scene showing the factories on the map was in Diamonds Are Forever. Many, many others.

KZbin search "Liberace chopsticks," he was a brilliant pianist and extravagant showman in the 60's, 70', and 80's. He was also flamboyant and obviously gay, but was popular during a time when celebrities had to remain in the closet. Your girl Annie Wilkes was a huge fan 😁 Groovy baby! Yeah! Quincy Jones was perfect for this soundtrack 🧐 I know this one's going to be a fun time. A lot of the jokes are even funnier when you've seen some spy movies, especially James Bond movies, which can be fun to watch anyway.

22:20 Liberace was honestly one of the finest modern pianists and performers. Also probably the most flamboyant. RedLetterMedia did a Wheel where "Christmas with Dennis" came up; that guy's performance is a lot like Liberace, except on the organ and for Christmas music, but he's really earnest, and he's got a youtube channel where he still does his thing every year, last time I checked. Anyway, if you want some good ambient piano music, put on Liberace. For real.

Austin Power is OG to me. I saw it in theaters in elementary school with a packed theater and man we were all roaring the entire time. I never expected somebody could make fun of James bond and the genre in such a silly bombastic way, kids and adults both loved it despite it being so raunchy cause it managed to hit some wholesome notes.

"Scott, I want you to meet Daddy's nemesis, Austin Powers." "What, are you feeding him? Why don't you just kill him?" "No, Scott. I have an even better idea. I'm going to place him in an easily escapable situation involving an overly elaborate and exotic death." "Why don't you just shoot him now? I mean, I'll go get a gun. We'll shoot him together. It'll be fun. Bang! Dead. Done." Fun Fact: Mike Myers originally wanted Jim Carrey to play Dr. Evil, but Carrey eventually passed due to scheduling conflicts with Liar Liar (1997). Myers then took the iconic role himself. Happenstance, Coincidence, Enemy Action Fact: Dr. Evil's appearance (bald head, gray suit, scar over his eye, cat on his lap) is based on James Bond's archnemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld portrayed by Donald Pleasence in You Only Live Twice (1967). Ironically, Pleasance was the star of the Halloween franchise where his archnemesis was named Michael Myers. Real Life Supervillian Fact: Joe Son, the actor who played Random Task, is serving a lifetime prison sentence for the torture of a 19-year-old woman in 1990. He went uncaptured until 2008 when a DNA match linked him to the crime. According to the victim, she unknowingly had a copy of this movie in her home until her attacker's identity was revealed. In 2017, he was sentenced to an additional 27 years for murdering his cellmate.
