The caddy's boss is Brian Doyle-Murray (Bill's brother). He was the mayor in Groundhog Day. Fun to recognize him. Rodney is fun in Easy Money with Joe Pesci too. 🤑 Fun to see you enjoy old favorites. You'll never look at a Baby Ruth the same way again. 😄

Man, Porky's was one of those movies that had a scene that burnt into my memory as a little kid. And then I hadn't watched it again for years, until I was an adult. The scene was so strange that I was questioning if I was remembering it correctly, or if it was my bizarre little kid mind that made it up. Well, turned out that I did remember it correctly. The scene I'm referring to deals with showers.. If you know, you know.

"Hey everybody, we're all gonna get laid!" Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Lois Kibbee. Location Location Fact: The producers chose Florida as the filming location over Los Angeles to keep studio executives from interfering. Super Fan Fact: Tiger Woods so adores this movie that he played Carl Spackler in an American Express commercial that included references to many of the movie's most famous scenes. No Respect Fact: Rodney Dangerfield was new to acting at the time and had trouble following along. Due to his background working with comedians, Harold Ramis was able to assist him throughout filming. Cinderella Story Fact: Bill Murray improvised the "Cinderella Story" sequence from two lines of stage direction. Director Harold Ramis simply asked Murray to imagine himself announcing his own fantasy sports moment. Murray simply asked for four rows of chrysanthemums and did the scene. Rat Farts Fact: When the Bishop, played by veteran actor Henry Wilcoxon, is having his best round of golf ever during a thunderstorm, he misses an easy putt, looks skyward and yells "Rat Farts!" and is immediately struck down by a bolt of lightning. The background music in this scene was from Cecil B. DeMille's classic The Ten Commandments (1956), in which Wilcoxon played the part of Pentaur. When Worlds Collide Fact: The memorable scene that begins when Ty Webb's golf ball crashes through the window into Carl Spackler's ramshackle abode was not in the original script. It was added by director Harold Ramis after realizing that two of his biggest stars, Chevy Chase and Bill Murray (who did not get along due to a feud dating back to their Saturday Night Live (1975) days), did not have a scene together. The three met for lunch and wrote the scene together. Although it has nothing to do with the plot, it is widely regarded as one of the funniest scenes in the movie. This is the only time that Chase and Murray have appeared in the same scene together.

My first year in college in the mid 80's in a semi rural town, our student apartments got only 2 local channels so we got a VHS player and had only 2 VHS movies, Apocalypse Now and Caddyshack. We had them playing nonstop on a loop during the day whether anyone was watching or not. So basically my roommates and I had those 2 films memorized. They're still 2 of my favorite films.

The butter thing is just old school dining etiquette. You are not supposed to take butter (or other spreads/sauces) directly from the serving dish and place it on your bread/food. You are supposed to put it on your plate and then take from that to spread on your bread. You still see it at super fancy restaurants or in my case when you have to go to an officer's dinner for a family member in the USAF.

Funny story about the ending explosion… they movie heads took the golf course execs out to lunch b/c they weren’t allowed to blow up the course so while at lunch they shot the explosion scene. I believe it was just outside of Ft Lauderdale Airport and a plane on final reported that the plane in front of him had crashed b/c he saw the explosion. Rodney had a hard time filming this and thought no one liked his performance because he was not getting a response from the other actors when he delivered his punchlines like he does on standup. They had to teach him that they were staying in character and actually were having a hard ass time not bursting laughing.

Brian Murray is Bill Murray's brother. Brian was a writer for this movie, and he promised he could get his brother on the set. Bill was on SNL at the time and one if the hottest actors at the time. But, Bill agreed to do one day of shooting. So, they crammed as much shooting as they could in a week. In fact, much more shooting then they had dialogue written. So, most of Bill Murray's scenes are just ad libed. The caddying for the Dali Lama, hitting flowers, cleaning his ball, au revior go phor. Filning all those scenes were basically Bill shows up on a new location, they point cameras, and they said, "Do something!" The movie was totally changed during shooting. The original story was about Danny and Maggie. But, it wasnt funny or compelling. Every night, they rewrote the script. Lots of times they told the actors, "just do something funny." Half of the time, the entire crew was partying until 4 or 5 in the morning, and they didnt start shooting until after noon. One night, a gorl took Bill Murray home with her, and he woke up in the afternoon several hours away. Its a miracle this movie got made at all, and even more so that its really funny. Oh, and they really did blow up the golf course. Bushwood was a real golf course in Florida, near Cape Canaveral. It was scheduled to close for a season for overhauling renovations. The studio rented the course for the summer. Harold Ramis, the director, wanted to blow it some C4 for practical effects at the end of the movie. The golf course said absolutely not. But, Ramis said we're still going to do this, despite no permission, and a lack of pyrotechnic expertise on the set. A few days before the set, Ramis bought the golf course owners gift certificates to a great steak house in Orlando, and scheduled reservations. They owners accepted. They used much more C4 than they realized. When they blew it up, it practically created a mushroom cloud. The news went live reporting there may have been a NASA accident at Cape Canaveral. The owners of the golf course were dining when all the tvs in the restaurant tuned to the local news. And thats how they found out their golf course blew up.
