EOTU 4.1 Cold Blood Insane

4.1 cold blood has been beaten on insane difficulty. This took me some time to do but is probably my favorite level in EOTU. at least it wasn't as bad as rising tide. That level is the bane of my existence.

Gotta say I'm completely impressed with this playthrough. I went pervasive and got SUPER stuck. Night 3 was complete AGONY with so MANY toads I ended up just stopping. I had about 60 ants on pervasive, i was able to steal 4 aphid nests, didn't really matter to the toad's XD. Can't wait to see your guide for the 4.2 challenge. Thanks!

no problem, I tried so many times with pervasive, but when I did a head to head test in the arena, found only 10-15 vigorous died so I decided to try it out and it went way better. Keep on trying and good luck on beating it!

Yep, that worked. Your strategy was similar to mine, except with the vigorous modifier, you can afford to be more aggressive. I hadn't tried it on insane, yet, because I struggled to beat it on hard before, but your strategy worked.

Tip don't look at the frog at all and it won't eat the toads and salamanders and in turn it won't regen

In my opinion the best way to do this on pervasive is start off with soldiers immediately to get strength and make sure your gathering food from outside atleast you won’t lose workers so much xd

I guess my problem was I never upgraded them. I literally had 60 workers and the rest of the entire colony filled with soldiers. It was like 900+ soldier spots with a little food storage. And even on medium i lost. I had to wait a long time to build them up and in that time the bullfrog went to max health, which was fine because I still killed it no problem. But once the hoard came out it was such an ungodly amount of amphibians in the nest my queen was surrounded by dozens of frogs, it was just a big mass of frogs on the death screen and I kinda rage quit ngl.

yeah it was a bit of a tough level to figure out. Upgrading fire ants is so worth it. Not only are they a lot better, you get two ants per lvl 3 tile. for every 120 food you get two lvl 3 ants compared to three lvl 1 ants. They are much better in combat and food efficient

If you want max upgrades for all of your ants you can use speed tiles to get all of your ants to level three in a 19 chamber

I died on the last amphibian wave, WITH 265 VIGOROUS FIRE ANTS, that was bad from my part, but also from the game, BECAUSE SOME WORKERS JUST GROUPED LIKE FROGS THAT THEN PROCEEDED TO MASSACRE ALL WORKERS and i died on numbers. Had around 4000 food. Very sad =(.

Yeah sometimes the last wave destroys you if they group up too much, a little ring but if you micro you can do it

With prob over 120 soldiers i couldnt take those ants with the super majors (Ofc, they were level 1) so i upgraded many to level 2 and 3 and i believe i had around 150+… Still struggled but i were able to take it eventually. I had no ants to fight after… I had all my ants aswell as new ones, some food so i decided to go after the big toad… Killed that, realized there was a invasion after, so i took all the food the big one gave and ended up having like 2000 food… So… Around 200 where most are level 3 and 2… Around 2000 food… And i couldnt survive the invasion, considering there were probably 15 toads +, 10 Salamanders + and probably something more or whatever (I didnt actually count, but there was a ton) I were on normal difficulty…

they are brutal, try to clear your brood chambers of toads. If the workers are able to replace the eggs then you should be fine, unless five of them are clustered in which case you might be toast

i lost like 5 times even tho i managed to get up to 150 soldiers level 3 after raiding both colonies in night 1 and 2, the toads would kill me in night 3 but i was fighting them all at once and always in corridors, this level is very hard idk if ima be able to do it

The final amphibian wave has to actually enter the nest through a northern or southern entry way, you can keep them from entering on insane with a total of 4 groups of 19 fire ant tiles (2 at each entry way) the victroy condition checks if there's hostiles in the nest in 2 minutes, if you delay the amphibians enough you can win while your army is still fighting.

Not sure if there has been an update to make it harder but I had about 400 lvl 3 soldiers and over 100 workers making I had loads of food but I still got completely smashed during the final assault after killing the bullfrog my workers could not keep up with delivering eggs and my battle force just keep getting wittled down until I had nothing left. When I finally lost I still had over 1000 food.

No they have not changed it, you might be letting them get too bunched up, if they started clustering together then you’re toast

yeah you need to be a little proactive about taking them out before they group up too much, and maybe a little luck

Seeing this strat is quite different than mine. I have a similar start as you showed, but I usually invade the little black ants nest by day 2. Its a great addition to food stores and as long as your ants don't get bad rng (big headed ants attack day 2, enemies not aggroing as often) you will be able to easily defeat this lvl on insane.

it's not a tough level as long as you have an idea of what you're doing, fun and the right amount of challenging
