Ep. 019 - Ugarit in Flames

This episode will conclude with the city of Ugarit in flames. Before we get there, we'll look at two Hittite invasions of Cyprus using borrowed ships, Egypt's first battle with the Sea Peoples, and the practice of using human hands as accounting units. After that, we'll delve into the causes of the Late Bronze Age Collapse: earthquake, climate change, drought, famine, and invasion. With each of these causes we'll look at the evidence as it comes. Finally, we have recovered letters from many cities like Ugarit, cities that were ultimately destroyed. These letters open a window on to the actions and fears of kings and merchants as the Bronze Age World collapsed underneath them. Heady stuff!

Check out the report of Wendiamun (Wenemun)...the sea prop6le sure as heck abdolutely did pay attention to Hattusa...marched right to to it after Ugarit from Alashiya sacking and burning everything. Pelaset witness told the whole story to his Egyptian integrator! Pelaset with Tjekkar (These two dressed identically and lived on Cypress as neighbors) and a handful of Shardana. The Shardana snall band that flipped sides last minute had been mercenaries employed by Ugarit til that last minute. Simuotaneously other Shardana were very active elite soldiers employed by Egypt. All this tells us a lot of things.

Man... Cyprus was like Iraq, Iran And Saud together. It was about bronze back then. 90% of bronze is copper... copper, cyprus. Hello?!? Ugarit was more like Dubai... until it was not anymore anything.
