I travelled from Sawantwadi to Mumbai on 2nd Nov in 10hr flat including 2 big breaks (Breakfast ~15-20 Min, Lunch ~20-30 min), a couple of natures call breaks. Followed route Sawantwadi - Oni - Sakharpa - Devrukh - Sangameshwar - Mangaon - Pali (Ganpati) - Khalapur - Mumbai. Great road with around 10% bad patch road. NH66 roads are bad between Lanja to Sanagameshwar and Mangaon to Panvel so took detour.

We drove from Goa to Chiplun YESTERDAY via NH 66. I would strongly advise everyone to avoid the NH 66 route. There is actually NO ROADS between Lanja to Sangameshwar. This stretch of almost 60 km is completely dug up and diversions are muddY, ,full of deep holes and dangerously uneven, that too on ghat roads. It is a complete mess and a MUST AVOID. Many other stretches are single lane or two lane with no dividers. NH 66 has been murdered

One suggestion to so called civil engineers: Who builds speed breakers on highways (that too like pyramid) speed breaker can cause accidents for speeding vehicles. Yesterday I came back from Goa and took NH66 all the way till JNPT exit, road conditions are good from Goa to Lanja except one bridge construction at Banda. Lanja to Sangameshwar is very bad only 30% road is good else work is going on everywhere, so better to take Oni-Sakharpa-Devrukh-Sangameshwar route. Then after Sangameshwar to Mangaon roads are good. Mangaon to JNPT roads are 50% ok in some places it's very bad (in Nagothane, Amtem, kolad). Traffic in Mangaon is bad avoid this by taking Pali-Khopoli road to expressway till kalamboli.

1. Does nh:66 bypass all the ghats between mumbai to goa? 2. Are there CNG pumps along nh 66?

1) There are 2 major ghats Parshuram ghar (good road), Kashedi (Now tunnel is ready) 2) Yes, but not as much as NH48

The lanja Sangmeshwar road was quite bad. Please update. Also indapur to pen is terrible. I normally use a diversion from Watul via devrukh that bypass the lanja sangmeshwar section. From Mangaon we go to pali via nizampur onto the Pune expressway at KHALAPUR. Your experience will be very helpful. Im traveling to Goa on the 20 th

It will take 5 years minimum, nh 66 has serious issue which even gadkari is not able to solve, mostly it's the locals at different patches who like litigations for their pass time
