Hello Max, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. I have been looking forward to seeing your progress, I was blown away with what you have already achieved. Awesome first video of 2025, great editing, the video really captures a seasonal feeling around your cottage with the gorgeous light. The stonework is definitely the best I've seen, you obviously have a talent and eye for it. Great progress again, greetings from Cape Town.👌❤️🇿🇦

I am always totally blown away by the quality and production of your videos. This one especially is beautiful, more so maybe because you yourself are a bit of a mystery , which adds to the atmosphere you create. Beautiful music, light, shots of nature - I’d award you an Oscar! Look forward to the next one.

Hello Max, Greetings from Plessala. Beautiful vlog and great to see the lovely Semintal (could not find the correct spelling, my apologies) cows resting in the field. The are cows of my childhood from NZ. Stone work looks beautiful, well done you. Jobs keep coming and springs is just around the corner and the garden is calling and the buds on the trees are swelling so the sap is rising as the earth gets ready for another season. Today is heavy fog here in Plessala and currently sitting in at 1degree

Hi Kim ! Same here: 1 degree. A cold winter really gives nature the rest it needs, and it’s great for keeping parasites in check. And yes, when the first buds start to show, it’s like a sign that spring is finally on its way!

Am I seeing this right, an outer & inner wall with an air space between? Twenty four inches (61cm)+/-, is that typical? You can heat the cottage with a candle. Hope by now you have the walls done and sealed up and the candle is burning bright and keeping you as warm as the days you filmed this. Fantastic photography!

Thank you for your comment. Yes, it's an outer and inner wall with an air space in between. Strange! The wall collapsed in episode 02, then I renovated the outer wall in episode 03, and in this episode, I demolished the inner wall.

Thank you for noticing! I try to find my own rhythm and storytelling style, but if I had to name one source of inspiration, it would definitely be The Lord of the Rings! If you have any favorites, I’d love to hear about them!

Very nice. What kind of morter do you use to build the wall?
@MyFrenchCottage
@MyFrenchCottage 10 күн бұрын
I use lime mortar. It allows a stone wall to breath.

@MyFrenchCottage thanks. My house in the Eifel/Ardennes is also build from such stones but with a putz on it. It is officially from 1860 but the village historican wrote about my house in the village glossy and he writes that it must be from about 1777. 20" thick walls. But now I know what to use when necessary. On my attic the stones are visible but now I know what is between them. I have enormous slate plates on the roof. Keep it up 👍

@@gerhard6105 The history of an old house is very interesting. In France, the Napoleonic land register is a precise map of the beginning of the 19th century. My French Cottage dates back at least 1832.
