The bridge position relative to the inner nicks is lined up with the Back Edge nearest the player . In the Australian maker site he lines up the nicks with the Middle of the bridge ,not the back edge . That is then related to the soundpost position .

Thank you for the great videos, I have one question if I may, what effect does moving the soundpost towards the F hole have? I was told it makes the G and E better but the middle strings suffer. Is it correct? Thank you.

Hi Edgar, thank you for all the tips. What is the correct vibrating string length for a 3/4 Cello? Pirastro says 60.4mm on their site, but my Gliga's is 64.2mm! However my bridge position looks correct... The F hole's inner notch is about centred with the bridge's feet.

Hello!! I would like to ask if I did something good... My violin's A and E string was like shouting while G and D are Deeper toned.. but after I moved my bridge back a bit from the inner F holes, the A and D became calmer and G and D became brighter

I HAVE GUANERI VIOLIN FOR THE LAST 60 YEARS.LATELY SOUND FELL & IT WAS REPLACED BY A KNOWN VIOLINIST. BUT I DIDNT GET THE USUAL SOUND AS I HAD BEFORE. BASS SIDE MORE VIBRANT THAN TREBLE SIDE. ANY SUGGESTION TO SHIFT THE SOUND POST? SOUND POST IS 5 OR 6 MM AWAY FROM YHR FOOT OF THE BRIDGR. SOLICITING EARLY REPLY.

Hi Mohamed! Check first the string length! Should be 328mm You might have to move the bridge!!!! If it still is weak on the E Move the sound post closer to the bridge foot All the best Edgar

Should I put the little plastic tube on my bridge on the e string? because on my violin it was on far back at the tailpiece O: Now I am not sure for what that plastic tube actually is and if it's nesessary :)

I have a violin I love for many years from a local maker. From your vid, I now discover when the bridge is centered between purflings, the strings run off-center down the fingerboard! :( I cannot tolerate to play on E & G that way, so I center strings down the fingerboard, by pushing bridge off-center to the left (G-string side). So depressing! Is there anything that can be done? (Can a sound post adjustment possibly compensate?)

Neck adjustments are necessary. Professional luthier required. Problem will be solved. Sound and playability improves.

Hello Edgar - I hope you are well :) Perhaps you could answer a question that is troubling me - it is about the correct bridge postion / vibrating string length. Regarding the string length, there seems to be no set agreeent (but surly there must be to get the right finger positions) I see suggestions 30cm, 28cm, 32.5cm, and these are then often contridicted when using the MENSUR way to measure, and again when trusting to F hole notch positioning.......What is it that ACTUALLY determines the bridge position / vibating string length?? I would very much value your thoughts and opinion. Thank you :)

You are right, Finally I have ordered a new camera to make the videos, a nice Gun Microphone and as you suggested two tiny Clip Microphones. Keep tuned and I am going to do my best together with my two daughters. :)
