You're an inspiration, I spent 30 years dreaming of being on a sailboat. 2 weeks ago, I had my first sail. In 2 days I take possession of a beat up old 27 footer. I will fix her and sail her! Thanks for the motivation skipper

Watching "this rubbish" (Seriously, you're selling yourself short) is one of the highlights of my week. Your banter, your humor and your spirit is infectious. Keep at it, you're doing great! Greetings from a Norwegian sailor wannabe. Got the boat, working on it. What I DON'T have is the first beginning of a clue about sailing.
@BumblingSailor4 ай бұрын
Thank you! I didn't have a clue either. Sometimes it's better to watch some stuff, talk to some people, then learn while doing it! 👍👍

It's good to hear your chuckles 😃 especially with the dolphins. I am so glad that you made the mooring ball so perfectly, that should give you the confidence that you have actually learnt a lot on this trip so far and your bumbling sailing days are now moving behind you. ... you can still bumble around and we wouldn't want you to stop, but you are becoming a good sailor.

Great video showing the real life at sea and well done for pointing out people doing radio checks on channel 16 rather than 67 or 65 as you pointed out. Its constant in the Solent it must drive them Coastguards crazy, the worse of it is they are probable not even leaving the Solent 👍to you

Those dolphins seem to be a resident pod for the New Quay area as we have spied them frequently quite close to shore there. Good filming and congrats on the solo over nighter. Thanks for sharing.

I think you should source something like an inflatable kayak to use as tender when mooring in more secluded bays. I believe some even come with a stabilizer float, though that limits the way you can approach the boat.

Love your stringy thing, is that course to steer, or bearing to the wind 🙂 only jealous cos I know I can't use that on a motorboat. Dolphin's were cool. Dolphin's smart cookies too - well according to Douglas Adams in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Great video! By the way, don’t call it a full English breakfast 😮. It’s called a traditional breakfast in North Wales. 👍
@jaygee56934 ай бұрын
In NZ it's called a "full English breakfast", but it's probably not "full" to you, because there is usually no black pudding. Often includes mushrooms, and usually the tomato is halved and grilled (or fried) instead of mushed.

I know that feeling winds from nowhere, I have been stuck on the Isle Of man for a couple of days longer than expected, waiting for less wind. I am always solo and find best to reef very early and go a bit slower, reefing sails solo in 30+ mph winds is not fun

Well done on your night passage. Dolphins were great. The doo dad being towed was probably a target from Aberporth range. Just out of curiosity are you keeping a log of how many hours you are under sail as opposed to motoring.
