Really interesting to see a more relaxed side to Alastair and Rory, and to hear what they are really like away from politics. Rory loving clubing was interesting. I love Rory's leave a boring party conversation line about "I mustn't monopolise you" and his diplomat Father leaving through the kitchen. Great stuff

Half way through and this is great. Never listened to your stuff before Grace but your dad is very complimentary of you and I can see why. I’d love this to be a regular podcast. Your dad and Rory are a great duo and I think you add to the dynamic.

@sharpvidtube2 ай бұрын
I would be more shocked if he didn't like to dance. Is there a Tory that doesn't like dancing? They we're doing it during the lockdowns, Theresa May did it walking on to her conference speech, Michael Gove seemed to be out clubbing every night. Not seen one that's good at it, but maybe Rory is the exception.

I came here from the Rest is Politics, loved the softer side and the insight. I’ve also subscribed. As a Labour member, there’s something homely and almost a bit of a joke about the parties with cheapo wine, egg sandwiches and a bit of veggie quiche - something really unintentionally British about it and those of us outside of London find big flashy parties a bit tacky if I’m honest. Completely agree about the smoking areas…. They’re that good that all the bloody non smokers come and sit/stand there too!

Grace your dad was part of the government which provided the best educational opportunities for working class kids my 3 children are so confident have great paying jobs and the confidence to stand up for what they believe in I had the opportunity to go to university at the age of 40 gain a degree due to the Labour Party
@sharpvidtube2 ай бұрын
It was better before the 90s, most people could get grants to go to university at one time. I went in the late 80s, when the grants had been cut, but were still enough to live on. That was after years of the Tory cuts, university in the late 70s must've been amazing.

I really didn't like that comment about how you just couldn't bear to go on holiday somewhere like Devon and pretend to enjoy it. For many people, that's the only kind of holiday we could ever have. Smacks of privilege, comes across rather entitled
@TheMissCorky3 ай бұрын
It’s literally way more expensive to spend a week in Cornwall/Devon than most of Europe, the weather is shite 98% of the time, food is average (and expensive) and there’s nothing to do if you don’t have a car. If you can afford £1000+ for a 5 night stay plus £200 9hr trains then you’re far more privileged than most. Politicians have to go there to show they’re supporting the shite British tourism industry 🙄
@skenksnfmela27492 ай бұрын
@TheMissCorky I couldn't afford that, not everywhere is that expensive for a week's stay. In fact, we wouldn't stay in one place for a week straight, but go between budget hotels like travelodge. Plane tickets for a whole family would way outmatch the price of driving to Devon or Cornwall (not to mention car hire as most places abroad need). The UK has some truly beautiful places, one of the rare good things we have going on here.
@stevecampbell96862 ай бұрын
