Nikhil, this is not meant to be critical for the sake of it, but genuine feedback: if you want to know what the real Gen-Z is thinking, please reach out to the people that take out massive loans to go abroad and land up in jobs that make them unhappy, those that are studying for 5+ years to get into IIT/NLS/AIIMS and then don't make it, or those that struggle through engineering college/MBAs to get into jobs that are part of the corporate rat race because that's what their vision for "traditional success" was. The members of this panel are exceptional in their own way. Privileged or not, I'm taking nothing away from their accomplishments. However, I'm someone with immense privilege myself and even I found this conversation "out of reach" from my personal experiences.

@ankurbiswas9073 Жыл бұрын
@@Sevenwik 1. Nikhil is the CEO of a company that employs PMs, SWEs, Data Scientists and Product Marketers, many of whom will fit this background. 2. If he can get VC Directors, CEOs and Founders on this show, surely he can get people from these backgrounds as well. 3. If he put out a simple LinkedIn post with these parameters he would get hundreds of applicants with these backgrounds to choose from. How he makes the conversation interesting is dependent on his skill as a conversationalist and how comfortable he makes his guest. That bit is completely on him but surely it can’t be harder than talking to Ronnie or Tanmay or Tara.

Coming to amazing insights that podcast shared: - Some people always favor convenience over economics (UPI - Navya's thought process, over credit cards - Nikhil's thought process). Clearly the goods at all such stores that accept credit cards are priced to include the credit card MDR (fees merchants pay to financial ecosystem for accepting credit cards). - KV is relatively so silent throughout the conversation. We need to give him more time to speak. He feels like the silent wise person, who waits patiently for opportunity to talk. - Really amazed to learn about backgrounds of all the guests on the show. People jump into judging individuals (as Navya said, she knows what people are thinking of her before she walks in the room full of those very people) but do not care enough to learn about their individual backgrounds. - Aadit's awareness about economic principles, about investment ecosystem, and the overall business acumen he demonstrates is quite wow for someone at his age. I totally envy this much intellectual growth at such as early stage in life. Nikhil's point about so many things, - like going deep deep down, childhood influences us in very deep way, documenting thoughts - 🤯, - the perception of our actions that were once just a joke (kinda JK) eventually can be misconstrued into something totally different. - Eliminate drama in your life. - Situations are often dramatic but more often than not people are dramatic and they draw that into your life. - Document and then eliminate people who bring unnecessary drama (Charlie Munger says - Exceptions to this are always there, e.g. family - so be mindful) All this advice, I kinda feel I have also observed in one form or another as a result of listening to Annual Meetings of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger (BRK Annual meeting recordings on CNBC)

One of the most important thing that all of them are missing behind all these entrepreneurial marvels (apart from hard work) is: LUCK. You can do whatever you can, and most of them are doing it AND most of them are failing as well, despite doing all the right things, because your luck is not with you. Not everyone is lucky.

Tara doesn't belong to the profession they all are somewhat a part of . She is not a business person and I think it would be unfair to expect her to know the ins and outs of the business world or what the middle class wants. Despite that I feel she was very articulate, as always very beautiful and above all very genuine and real. Her story of being shy , fearful and slowly finding her confidence yet being not cool and awkward is something I definitely relate to. We have to realise not everyone is very practical and a go getter...I definitely am not and hence the most I related to was Tara. But I understand the nature of this podcast and most viewers perhaps came to seek something else... something Tara couldnt offer.

As a mother of the gen z , my opinion ( with my kids in the same school in dubai ) Our generation has done well and as parents have indulged the gen z, bcaz of which these kids do not feel the need for any material stuff. Material stuff is actually handed to them before they even ask for it, by these indulgent parents. These kids who do not have this greed for material stuff, can have the mindspace to think about renting stuff , going after careers after their heart, can afford to drop out of stanford and all such risky acts. They have the confidence of parental support. You need to even interview kids who have tried going down this path, starting with the confidence that things will work out, but it hasnt, and now are living a miserable life. What are they doing now? Do they regret not having giving themselves an alternative. Or having gone in for the education they didnt
@maithilydesai1415 Жыл бұрын

When you say "living a miserable life" then it's obvious that they haven't calculated the risk well. I think it's good to take risks when you're young and have parental support as backup is also good but one should take calculative risk and should also know their risk appetite. Even if they fail they learn a lot but for that too one needs a learning mindset. Taking risks is not bad but taking non calculative risks makes one's life miserable.
@jaydoshi6824 Жыл бұрын
@@pcodes see you are right but if the parents are economically very strong then it becomes easy to take risk. In case that risk leads to the loss in future, still the parents are supportive because they know that the loss will be similar to the penny + mindset my child going to learn something and create something by his own hands. If you mirror the whole case then you will find that although the failure probability is 1%, a middle class one fails to have such audacity because the one is afraid of that 1% instead of being confident for that 99%.

There’s no such thing as “one thing didn’t work out and hence they will live a miserable life forever,” humans have always extricated themselves out of the worst of situations and rebuilt their lives many a times in one life. Even my parents failed, experimented, fumbled, tried again, and then tried again, in the 80s, irrespective of how much their parents supported them (or not). They came into success and more stability only after 35-40 maybe. Human life isn’t as simple as we try to reduce it to be, in order to scare our children into doing what WE want them to do :)

If people really listened keeping judgements and prejudices aside you will pick up on some great resources that folks have mentioned here. The 21 year founder of Zepto knows way more about business and economic trends than a seasoned finance professional or an economist. That level of knowledge comes from being an avid reader and learner. The privilege doesn’t buy knowledge, mindset and drive to solve problems. Personally. I think there are plenty knowledge nuggets to pick up on if your truly tuned in.
@rookiej55878 ай бұрын
haha no, it comes from having finnace professionals who work for your parents on your speed dials. Privileged doesn't mean he didn't work a bit rather the ease of doing what he did. I think you must acknowledge that. He will easily secure a better deal than the guy who "reads a lot". Another thing is that the market insights are not something you'd find reading books and newspapers rather being in touch with the internal data of actual businesses who are in the market. That's where rich kids secure an edge.

I believe one thing. Even though all the panelists are well off and come from privileged families, they do have a distinct personality and strong opinions. One can have a head start but consistency working towards a goal is what will make you better and successful. They are figuring their way out, hustling, trying to prove themselves in a way. And real hustle is pure and its so powerful that with or without privilege doesn't make a difference.

I don't know why people are having problem with Nikhil bringing people from "privileged" class. We all read in news, articles about normal people achieving something, like cracking some tough exams or whatsoever. But what I suppose is Nikhil trying to bring people at apex in diverse field and how they are making impact which's changing the world. So I believe people in general would get benefitted from these talks rather than being taught how to crack exams, where to get admission or things at surface level. And not to forget Nikhil has himself gone to the level where he is starting from being from average middle class background. So the points which he discusses is interesting and intriguing by diverse answers. Good going Nikhil.

Instead of forcing everyone to become an entrepreneur, the focus should be on providing high-quality education for all, free and accessible to everyone. Early childhood education, encompassing various sectors, should be encouraged to allow children to explore different skills and pursue careers aligned with their passions and interests. This approach will naturally foster entrepreneurship among those who are truly driven. The ultimate goal should be to create a system that empowers every individual to achieve a level of success that enables them to live a peaceful and fulfilling life.
